Over 40- 3 IUI's and 1 IVF

September 29, 2008

I like many started later in life not thinking I would run into this problem of infertility. I have been very healthy all my life and don't feel 'old'...but my eggs seem to say otherwise. My husband and I started trying one year ago and as of March..nothing. I promptly started testing to get myself into a very well recommended clinic here in the city. All blood levels read normal- immume system too- my husband- better then good- my tubes-clear- FSH 8.9.

First IUI-natural, second on clomid, third on Puregon with 9 eggs....nothing

I took two months off to focus on feeling better. After the drugs I had little engery and it was thought I might have a thyroid problem. I worked with CM- herbs and acupuncture as it was found the during my sperm/mucus test the sperm didn't live/swim through the mucus..not a good sign. Then off to work with a naturopath who focused on detox, thryoid and getting my body at a less acidic state.

So off for IVF..right now I am on the second week of 2 weeks after transfer. I had 13 eggs taken with only 6 mature....and only two fert. but were grade 2- 8 cells after 3 days...it only takes one!

So here I sit and wait....wondering if the cold I got the day after my transfer has ended this b 4 it started! Any one else waiting!!!

September 29, 2008

tftloove- you seem really excited....I am so nervous...best of luck to you

September 29, 2008

Kan...so you had a cold after your IVF transfer?

September 29, 2008

I did on Saturday morning (8 days past transfer) and the line was SO faint that I thought I was imagining it then I was off to the mall with friends and every other person either had a baby or was pregnant - it was so difficult b/c I convinced myself that mine was negative. Now, I am not sure what to think but I promised my husband I would wait until tomorrow.

Good Luck Sandra!!

Yes, I had a cold. It worked out well though since I was on bedrest for 3 days.

September 29, 2008

Believe me I am nervous too - I cried and cried all Saturday morning but then I thought I am not out of this yet - tomorrow will be the real test so I can only hope for the best.

Lol...you are good. I would have been POAS on Sunday morning.

September 29, 2008

I was so upset on Saturday that I decided against ruining the rest of my weekend but now I am feeling cautiously optimistic.

Sandra - when is your blood test?

September 29, 2008

tftlove-you are brave...i thought about going to buy a test but then if it negative I feel the journey will be over..is this your first IVF?

September 29, 2008

It is my first and to make matters worse my husband doesn't want me to go through it again IF it doesn't work. So, this is it for now.....I am sure I can talk him in to one more round if need be. Lets pray that is not the case.

September 29, 2008

my blood test is on Friday...

September 29, 2008

sorry what is POAS...I am new with all of this!

September 29, 2008

POAS- pee on a stick:)

September 29, 2008

POAS - Pee On A Stick (A Pregnancy Test)

September 29, 2008

My advice is to wait until then or atleast the night before. Taking the test on Saturday ruined my entire day. Then, I talked to my friend yesterday who is pregnant with her 2nd baby and she said she had negative tests and barely there positive tests with her first. It was so discouraging for me - she is convinced that I am pregnant or else there would have been no line at all. But is it possible that is from the shot? So, instead of agonizing I will wait until tomorrow.

Friday must seem so far away - stay calm and think positive!!!

September 29, 2008

KAN- I rest for 3 days after myself...but couldn't stay in bed the WHOLE time and did go for acupuncture the day after...went back for a 1/2 day of work on the 4th day and found I had a bit of a fever...I was afraid of all the coughing too!!!!! Sorry so you had a positive result?

September 29, 2008

Thank you...you too....a bit of a line is better then none..but what shot did you have?

September 29, 2008

ahhh- thank you all...lol..i have a lot to learn!

Sandra, I think whether you test early really depends on what type of person you are. I know I couldn't handle hearing the nurse telling me my test was negative, so it was easier for me to deal with it at home in privacy instead of me breaking down on the phone.

September 29, 2008

The HSG shot that you take 36 hours before the retrieval - I mean that has to be out of my system by now....so hopefully this is it!
