TTC #1

August 29, 2007

Hi everyone. I am 22 years old and have been trying to conceive for 6 months now. I got off the BCP earlier this year and have not ovulated or had a period on my own yet(it has been six months). I have been using OPKs and taking my BBT to help me determine if I am ovulating and neither are showing positive results. I have been trying Vitex to see if that would be of any assistance to me but so far no results. My doctor also tried 3 cycles of Provera hoping that this would encourage my system to do its own thing...didn't work. Now I am in the process of trying to be put on Clomid to help me start ovulating again and hence give my husband and I a chance at conceiving.

I went to see my OBGYN last week and she said that before she would put me on Clomid that she wanted to get some blood work done as well as an ultra sound. Only after we get these results would she give me an RX for Clomid. She told me that she wants to make sure that everything is functioning well and that we know what we are dealing with. This, she said, could take up to 3-4 months because of ultrasound waiting lists. Well it just so happens that people do cancel once in a while and lo and behold yesterday I had an ultrasound and today I had my blood work done....YAY!!!! Next Wednesday (Sept 5) I have another appointment with her where we will discuss my results. I hope that this time she gives me the RX of Clomid like I want. I think that at this time this may be our only chance at conceiving.

I just want to say that it is nice to have everyone on this forum to relate to. Everyone has been very supportive and Dr.Q has just been amazing.

I was hoping that some of you could share similar experiences with me. I was also hoping to find others who take their BBT and are willing to discuss if they have found this helpful or not.

I wish everyone the best of luck and hope that all of us can indeed finally get what we are all hoping, praying and trying for....a beautiful baby!! Wish me luck!!

Hi Liane,

Firstly l wish you baby dust.

My friend had somehow similar experience but hers is that she micarried in March 2007, since then her period siezed. her doctor told her not to worry, becuase she was able to detect her ovulation.

surprisely she took in July 2007 without restarting her period, but unfortunately miscarried again this month. This is a sad story, but intend to tell you that you are not alone, you will sure have the babies of your choice.

Thanks for the support. I appreciate it.

Hi Liane,

I would like to start by saying good luck and baby dust.

I can relate to you, my husband and I have been TTC a second child for 6 months according to my doctors records. Off the record we have been doing the BD for a year, with no result.

I just want to let you know to keep a positive mind set and prayer is everything. I hope that everything works out for you with the clomid. Who know maybe you will have twins.

Liane, we really are on the same boat...well at least, I was a year ago. Like you, I was also on Provera for 3 cycles to help regulate my cycle, but to no success. Before my doc gave me Clomid, I was also worked up (tons of blood work) and had an ultrasound also. Everything came back normal and my ultrasound at that time showed a hemorrhagic cyst in my right ovary. That did resolve by itself as soon as I got my period that month (with Provera). Then I started on Clomid last June. You are young and you still have a lot of healthy eggs waiting to be released. It's too early to lose hope. I agree, prayer is a big thing. I am somewhat religious and I believe that when it's God's time, THERE IS NO STOPPING IT from happening. But it is hard to mix science and faith, isn't it? hehe! I also just started doing BBT last cycle, and YES, it helped a lot! It took a great deal of discipline to take my temperature around the same time everyday. I set my alarm clock at 7:30 a.m. every morning, even when it's a weekend where I can sleep in, I still wake up at 7:30 to take my temperature (even when I'm half asleep while taking it). I can see a much clearer pattern since I have been taking it around the same time every day.

So, keep hoping, keep trying and have faith that it will happen. I have read very inspiring stories from another forum. There are women who go through a lot of failed IVFs, and just when they think they don't want to do it anymore because they don't have money to do the procedure, they get pregnant naturally. I will try my very best to relax and not to think about baby-making. That might do the trick. :-)

i WAS PUT ON PROVERA BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE MY PERIOD FOR 3 MONTHS AND A HALF .. found out i have PCOS, goo dthing was there were no bumpy things in my ovaries, i'm just hormonally imbalanced, so took provera and had my period after 3 dyas of taking 10 pills. I finished my clomid too which i took for 5 days starting 2nd day of period...Hoping to have BFP early next month!!

September 21, 2007

Wishing you the best of luck, im in the same boat as you are. Except I do have the bumpy things all over both my ovaries, it looked like a bee hive in there, from the ultrasound...it was crazy. The nurses kept saying here are all your eggs, they didnt even tell me it was PCOS...I was excited at first, and then was like oh ok, thats not good. Then did research.

Hoping to get my period in the next day or 2...best of luck Nette and everyone else out there!! Im thinking about all of yall!!!!

baby dust to you and everyone ttc

October 01, 2007

Is this your first time with Clomid, Keysfergy??

I too have PCOS, but just found out August 20th of this year. We have been trying since March, but of course then we didnt know about the PCOS, just knew my periods were all out of wack, and then knew that in July (when I started OPKs, that I didnt ovulate). Then went for a normal Pap, and got put in ultrasound because the doc felt a cyst, then found out that just like you have all the bumpy cysts on both ovaries.

They told me to call them a few weeks later and let them know if I had started my period and if I ovulated, since I hadnt ovulated at all since the whole time we have been trying.

I called them when it was CD45, and no period. They put me on Prometrium to induce my period, and then Clomid to help me ovulate. Im not on CD10, and finished Clomid Saturday (CD8). Im just praying soo much that I ovulate, and have high hopes.

I wish you the best sweetie, because 4 years is a long time. I feel like 6 months is forever. My heart goes out to you sweetie!

Please keep me posted!

October 02, 2007

Hi girls! I'm still BDcing....I won't stop until October 13th, which would be a day after my expected AF...Then I would be testing if I did get pregnant...I hope that by October I'd get that BFp~!!!

October 02, 2007

Did you end up getting a + OPK Nette?

October 02, 2007

This is how things have been going on my journey since I last update...Ok....here it goes:

I went to see the OBGYN yesterday and even after showing her my BBT charts for the last couple of months and telling her I haven't been getting postives on OPKs she refused to RX provera or clomid. She told me that she would rather see me conceive naturally even if it takes 5 years....I was devastated. She told me that if I would like she could refer me to an infertility clinic somewhere else where they could check to see if my tubes are blocked and check my husbands semen. I thought this was jumping the gun seeing that I haven't even tried clomid yet.

Anyway basically she told me that I was risking a lot by going on Clomid and that if I forced a pregnancy on my body that I would regret it because Clomid has huge side effects and I may not be able to have children on my own ever again naturally after. She told me that if I was looking for a doctor to hand out RXs whenever a client asked that I better find someone new. She said that she believes in everything natural from conceiving to giving birth to breastfeeding. Right at this point a huge red flag was waving in my head saying that is it enough.

So, she told me that if I wanted an RX to go find it somewhere else. As you can imagine I was really hurt and felt like I have been lied to for the last 2 months. 2 months ago when I first when to go see her she told me feel that she would put me on clomid. Now I have just wasted my time. I don't know what happened....

So, I decided to call my regular physician and I was able to get in to see him yesterday as well. I explained to him my frustration and that I feel it is time for me to try Clomid. I think after 7 months of no ovulation I don't think I am being unreasonable. All my blood work is fine and so is my ultrasound. I have an aunt who only ovulates 2X per year so maybe I am like her.

Anyway, he told me that he was going to consult with a new OBGYN in another city. Rather than making me wait 4 months to get in to see the OBGYN my doc will treat me himself. He said he will have to do extra monitoring but he is more than willing to do that. He asked that I go back to see him on October 10 to give him sometime to work out an action plan for us to execute. He said he would like to start by inducing a period with provera then proceeding on to take Clomid with a progesterone supplementation. He promised me that on October 10 he would be handing over some RXs to give my husband and I a chance.

The OBGYN I saw told me that by using clomid that she will have to use a vacuum to get my baby out and that I have a good chance of an ectopic pregnancy and that I may develop overhyperstimulated ovaries that will be the size of grapefruits..... I am so frustrated, confused, excited and scared all at that same time. I spent a lot of my day crying yesterday because I felt so lost..... I really don't know what is the truth. She made me feel scared to try Clomid as if it was evil or something. Dr.Q told me that there is a little to no risk with using Clomid and I also went to visit a pharmacist who told me the same thing. I am hoping and praying that Clomid is all my husband and I will need to achieve and maintain a pregnancy. Wish me luck.....!

October 02, 2007

Liane, You POOR THING! Your OBGYN does not sound very patient friendly! I am glad that you decided to go to your normal doctor to see if he could handle it. If that doesn't work, then I suggest you find another OBGYN. I feel so bad for you! I know that now you must feel relieved knowing that they are going to give you Provera and then Clomid. Please keep us posted, you are in my prayers! Good luck to you and your husband.

October 02, 2007

Thanks Jen I appreciate that...it means a lot!

October 02, 2007

Liane,

I am so upset right now! You need to get a new obgyn and never go back to her again. She needs some serious lessons on bedside manner with her patients!!! I trust Dr. Q. 100% and if he prescribes chlomid to his patients then I'm positive it is safe! I really cannot believe that lady!!!! I would have walked out right then and there and told her I will gladly find another doctor, and one that has compassion for his/her patients!!!

October 02, 2007

Sara- I TOTALLY AGREE!!! UGH!

October 02, 2007

Thanks girls. I almost did walk out on her but I was so shocked...I left there speechless. Now I am glad that I have my GP taking care of things. I trust him and know that he unlike her will stick to his word. Thanks for the support.

October 03, 2007

I'm glad you feel better about it and that you're going to give chlomid a try. :)

October 03, 2007

Hi Liane! In my case, I also have PCOS and my OBGYN told methat she wanted me to get pregnant right away so, she put me on Provera for withdrawal bleeding, since i did not have my period from may-august..i did get it sept 14-19 and took clomid sept 15th...it's too early, my seconf=d day at that, but she told me that she want me to get pregnant after the cycle....so I am still waiting to test but stil BDcing..

Anyway, I really think that your OBGYN is stupid to even think and advice you this way....I hope everything goes well and that you get to take provera and then clomid right away...I'm praying that everything goes fine!! BABY DUST!!!

October 11, 2007

Dr.Q, just a question? in pregnancy, when do you usually get montgomery glands? I'm 13 DPO and my OBGYN told me to give it one more week until I get a serum test. I really feel tired all the time, headaches, and some cramps....

October 11, 2007

I hope this is it Nette! Im wishing you the best sweetie and lots of love and BABYGLUE and POSITIVE HPT DUST!!!

October 11, 2007

i hope this is it for you nette! it sounds a little...hmmmm.....keep us posted!

October 12, 2007

I hope this is it for you Nette!! I am wishing you lots of baby dust!!!!!!!!!!!

October 12, 2007

Please tell me what you think?

http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/1302fd

I'm so confused:(

October 12, 2007

Did you use OPKs? You temperature doesn't stay elevated and that concerns me. What do you think girls?

October 12, 2007

No,I should have but I listening to the doctor I didn't think I would ov that soon. So it caught me of guard when had ewcm the last day of clomid.

My doctor is saying that I ov cd 14.

October 12, 2007

In my opinion I think you ovulated CD13, but I could be wrong. Also do you ever sleep with your mouth open?? This morning I noticed it three times before I actually got up, and kept snapping my mouth shut...haha.

Also have you taken a pregnancy test today, because you should be on 15DPO today, but thats from what I think!!

Please keep me posted sweetie, also when did yall bd??

October 12, 2007

every other day from the day they put me on clomid.

I don't know if I sleep with my mouth open, I have to ask DH, That's a good point. Thanks. I think I'm going to take a break from charting and beef up my supply of opk's. I don't think it 's helping me...other than helping me go nuts...I keep saying to myself I can't be pregnant if I were my temps would stay elevated. So I am back to wondering if the clomid actually worked or not...My doctor wants me to come in on cd21 to blood test to see if the clomid is working or not and go from there :(

October 12, 2007

I thought I ov on cd13 too and the doctor told me no it was cd 14. I just don't know....

October 12, 2007

If you did ovulate I would say that it was CD13 because your temp spike was on CD14. Maybe I am wrong though.

October 12, 2007

Yeah I know the mouth open thing can play a big part, and maybe the weather change to.

Also he wants you to come in on CD21?? That would be good because he will test your progesterone levels and stuff.

I would def think you ovulated on CD13, because of the major increase CD14, but im not a doctor, but if you look at my chart it shows.

Also if you didnt have 3 temp increases then you may have not ovulated....its soo hard to tell. I highly recommend doing the OPKs starting like CD6 or so. I know I did, because I was scared I was going to miss it...best of luck sweetie and here is my chart.

I started back on CD12, because I had been doing it months back before I knew I wasnt ovulating, and then quit, but I knew my average temps from then till now, and they were never in the 98s till now.

http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/1c03f3

October 12, 2007

So I'm waiting for af to come so I can start over again...Yeah she wants me to come in so she can test my progesterone levels on day 21 to see if clomid 50mg. is working or not.

Thank you...So much both of you.

October 12, 2007

Well if your AF has shown up yet don't give up!!! You never know Skittles!!! What is hard in your situation in knowing whether or not you ovualted. I hope that all goes well with you. If not this month then the next!!! ****Babydust****

October 12, 2007

Your welcome sweetie and lots of love, and we are praying for you and wishing you the best!!!

October 12, 2007

I'm just down and I need to pick myself back up...

Thank you again ...;)

October 12, 2007

It will all be ok. Think of it this way, in like a week or so you will be trying again. Thats something to look forward too!

Best of luck sweetie and lots of love!

November 09, 2007

I wish you the best of luck. we have not been trying for long it was our first try and i got the positive test 10 days before my period. I can't imagine trying for so long and having that many thing happen. I will be praying for you.

March 13, 2008

Liane- Congrats, I'm so very happy for you :O) Lots and lots of baby dust ***********

March 19, 2008

Just thought I would post an update on our situation. In October of 2007 I started taking 50 mg of clomid. It did make me ovulate but unfortunately did not achieve a pregnancy. We tried three months on 50 mgs of clomid before they doubled my dose to 100mg of clomid in January of 2008. On our second cycle of 100mg and fifth cycle of clomid we finally got our BFP! On March 3rd @ 11 DPO I took an HPT and got a faint line. My HCG levels that day were 20. We got my HCG levels retested on 15 DPO and they were @ 326. My progesterone levels on 15 dpo were @ 192.6. My estimated due date is November 13, 2008. Tomorrow I will be 6 weeks pregnant. We are praying that this little one sticks. My boobs have been very tender and as of Saturday the nausea has kicked in full swing! Our first ultrasound is scheduled for April 15th and I will be 9 wks 5 day at that time. There is a chance that we could be having twins because I did ovulate out of both ovaries this month but we are more than happy to take what god gives us. Deep down though I have a feeling that there is just one in there. So, this is our update!! Hope you enjoyed it!

March 19, 2008

Im soo happy for you and I cant wait for that ultrasound on April 15th!!

Your Progesterone levels are soo freaking high its insane...haha. Is that measured in the same as it is in the US?? I think there is a HUGE chance its twins or maybe triplets, but I know you will be happy either way!

Its soo cool, you found out March 3rd, I found out March 13th, and we are due pretty close, you Nov 13th me Nov 22nd.

I think these ones are gonna stick for us both!

Im soo happy for you!

Love you!

March 19, 2008

Thanks Jolene! Oh yes, I should mention that my progesterone woudl be considered a 60 in US terms. I live in Canada. SOrry for that confusion.

March 19, 2008

Haha, ok but thats still REALLY good though and high! Soo happy for ya!!!!

March 19, 2008

congratulations Liane!!

I am so happy that your levels are so high that is good news...YAY!! two Turkey babies on the way

March 28, 2008

Hey Akt0115! I was on my 5th round of clomid. I did three rounds of 50 mg then on the fourth and fift round we did 100mg. I finally got pregnant on round #5. I was getting ready to take a couple of months off because I was needing a break! Moral of the story: DO NOT GIVE UP!!

March 28, 2008

Thanks so much Liane! I definately don't want to give up. I've been ttc for this long, I can keep on going. Hopefully since I didn't ovulate this month, my doc will up my dose of clomid. Seeing everyone doing well on here is keeping me going. I know God has something great in store and I can't wait for it to happen!

Thanks so much and can't wait to hear your updates!

April 05, 2008

11 dpo it was 20 and 15 dpo it was 326!

April 05, 2008

hi liane and thanks for your help with the pics. i do have one more question.after i copy the pic, how do i use it here? and congrats on your BFP. thank you

April 05, 2008

you need the html code to copy and paste for it to show up on here :)

April 06, 2008

Yes, Sarah is right, just paste the HTML code in the comments box and post it and it should work!! Let me know if you still have questions!

May 08, 2008

Hi Laine, I was reading some of your journeys and I noticed you were taking Metformin. My doctor is putting me on Metformin this time around as well. I took clomid for my first two cycles, first time at 50mg and 2nd cycle at 100mg and didn't ovulate either month. So I am starting Metformin today and will start another 100mg of clomid once AF arrives. Just wondering what your luck was with that and how it worked for you?? Did you find that it helped you get pregnant faster? Were you on clomid too? I would love to hear from you!

Thanks so much and congrats on your double bundles of joy~!! That's sooo excitiing!!!

May 08, 2008

Hi AKT! I was on metformin but it made me quite sick so I quit taking it! I never did get pregnant while on it. My sugar levels were fine and I was not overweight so in a sense I thought it was wasteful being on them anyway. I was taking clomid as well. I did 3 months at 50mg and 2 months at 100mg. I got pregnant on my 5th round! Hope you get that BFP really soon!!! :)

May 08, 2008

Thanks Liane! If I would just ovulate I would be okay!! I don't know why I won't, besides that I have PCOS. Thanks for your support and I'm sooo happy for you!

Please pray for me! I need all the babydust I can get!

***STICKY GLUE TO YOU***

May 08, 2008

AKT ask your doctor about Femara instead of clomid. My RE said that if clomid didnt work they would try Femara because it has higher success rates with PCOS patients...worthwhile looking into!

May 08, 2008

Thanks Liane, I definately will do that. My doctor says that if I don't ovulate on the clomid/Metformin combo for the next two rounds we will try something else. So I'm praying this works!

If you dont' mind me asking, did you ovulate every time with the clomid?? I haven't ovulated at all yet, so just wondering.

Thanks so much for your advice!

May 08, 2008

AKT- Metformin will make you sick, but charge through! :) i have been taking it for about a month now and feel fine now! but it was a rough start, like Lianne said!

With PCOS, its supposed to really help??? (let's hope!)

May 08, 2008

Thanks babyquestions! I definately will stick to the Metformin, especially if that will help me get pregnant!! I plan to take it with meals to help with the upset stomach part of it... hopefully that will help :)

Are you taking clomid?

Thanks for your support! We will get our BFP SOON!!!

May 09, 2008

AKT I took my metforming for about 3 months and it was still making me sick but everyone is different so I hope you are more like babyq and that your body becomes adjusted to it easily!

August 01, 2008

Hey Liane. I'm Jen. I'm going through about the same thing you were going through last august. I was wondering how far along you are?! Congrats! I am being put on clomid in the next couple months and I am wondering if there is anything you can suggest or any words of advice you may have for me.

I am very curious about your journey. I hope to find a glimmer of hope for myself and my husband.

What did you do along with clomid to help your chances? How long on clomid did you cycles change for the better? Did you get an ultra sound to see if clomid was working?

August 01, 2008

Hey Jen!!! I am sorry to hear that you are going through the same stuff that I did, no fun!! I am currently 25 weeks and 3 days pregnant with twins.

When it comes to the clomid my first piece of advice is be patient and relax. I had read that if clomid will work for you that you will get pregnant within the first 3 months (do not believe this, it takes longer for some women...like me!!). Of course I did not pregnant in the first 3 months and got extremely discouraged. I thought I was doomed and that we would never have a baby on our own. I wanted so badly to be able to get pregnant without IUI or IVF. I was starting to panick that these were my next steps if I didnt get pregnant soon.

They started me off at 50mg of clomid for 3 months. I did ovulate every month but did not get pregnant. Month 4 and 5 they upped my dosage to 100mg. Finally, on my 5th round we got pregnant with our babies. It was a year and 3 days to date that we had been trying when I finally got that + pregnancy test!!

The month I got pregnant I decided to try some new things to see if they would help. I am a normally dry person down there and so I tried taking evening primose oil because I was told that it could help with increasing cervical mucous. It worked wonders for me and I would recommend it for sure.

We had been using the "safe for trying to conceive" personal lubricant called preseed but I decided to try canola oil instead because I had read that it was also safe and would not affect our chances. We actually preferred the feeling of the canola oil and it worked also!!

Previous to the month we got pregnant I was taking ovulation sticks as well as taking my temperature. Taking my temperature was really nervewracking so I quit doing that and just relied on the opks. I figured the less stressed the better.

The month I got pregnant I took the clomid from CD3-7. The majority of the other months I took it from CD1-5. I think that this too played a role.

Also, the month we got pregnant my husband and I decided to have a "what happens happens" attitude meaning we werent going to get stressed out things. We booked ourselves a 4 day getaway weekend and it just so happened to be right when I ovulated. It was a very relaxing weekend and I think that played a huge part.

Make sure that you are taking your clomid with your supper meal or in the evenings because it will decrease the side effects. I always ovulated a little later on clomid. They always say that you will ovulated 10 days after your last pill but for me that varied. The month we got pregnant I ovulated on CD21. Don't let that bother you.

Usually with clomid they will let you try it for 6 months and if it does not work at that point it means it is time to move on.

I was never monitored while on the clomid. My doctor only wanted to see me back after my 6 months on it were up. The reason I went on it is because I do not ovulated on my own. I have what is called Polycystic Ovaries and therefore going on medication was our only choice if we wanted a baby.

Just keep your chin up and dont get discouraged. It can and will happen but just might take some more time. The way I look at it now, if it wouldnt have taken us a year we wouldnt be waiting on these precious twins!!

Best of luck and if you have any more questions just ask!!! That is what we are here for!!!!

Liane, I just wanted to say...you are awesome!!! I love reading stories like yours with encouraging words. It helps me keep on going and not giving up. I too have been TTC for a year now, this was my 4th cycle on clomid, this time at 150mg and my progesterone levels on CD21 have been low. But then, like you said, sometimes you ovulate later on clomid. On my 2nd round of clomid I got a + digital OPK on CD30, but AF showed on CD35. I got my FSH level checked this cycle and it was 8.9. My doc said that was good and he was happy with those results. So I'm just praying that this time does the trick. I'm currently on CD15 and no +OPK yet, but I'm praying...I'm also on Metformin 1500mg...

I just wanted to say thanks for sharing your information and giving us encouraging words. I too was discouraged b/c I heard about the "clomid will work in the first 3 months thing" and now I'm on my 4th round....

So thanks for your kinds words and I'm sooo glad your little ones are doing well!

(((HUGS))) Akt and thank you!! I know how hard ttc can be and how it can really bring a person down. It is so hard month after month, negative after negative.

One thing that my ttc experience taught me was to not give up and that it will happen but that sometimes it takes time. When I was ttc I felt betrayed in a way. Now I truly believe that god must have had a plan for us the entire time that we were ttc even though as I was going through it it seemed as though god didnt even know that I existed.

I am not an overly religious person by any means. I dont go to church every weekend or anything like that but going through the ttc process like I did, I have come to believe that someone was watching out for me. I dont know how I got through most of the time because I had a really difficult time dealing with it all. Looking back, I know that something or someone was there to help me through.

If I would have known what I had in store for me I would have had more patience and just let things happen when they were meant to happen and not have worried so much. Now I realize that these babies were chosen just for me and that it just took that extra time to make them. Now more than ever I appreciate how much of a blessing these babies really are.

You will get pregnant, you just have to keep positive and keep trying! Don't worry that it is CD15 and you havent ovulated yet. The earliest I ever ovulated on clomid was CD18!!!! I truly hope that you get your little miracle very very soon because I know how frustrating it can be. Keep you chin up though because when your time comes you will realize that god was just taking extra time making that baby extra special for you!!

Sending lots of love, hugs and babydust your way!!

Liane you are so inspirational. I ready up further in your post that at 6 weeks your nausea kicked it. Was it REAL bad?? Were you vomiting with it? How long did it last :)

I have a chance of having twins I will find out next Wednesday... but I am 10 weeks now, and have had mild to moderate nausea off and on, no vomiting. It is somewhat subsiding now. But my HCG levels quadrupled as well, I saw yours did every two days :) So I'm thinking there may be more than one, but I just wanted to compare with you :)

August 01, 2008

Oh, and you were just on Clomid right??? You werent using anything else when you got pregnant?

August 01, 2008

Hey Maggie!! We did use clomid but that was all that I was on medication wise to get pregnant. We did not do IUI but just bdced normally. My nausea was bad but could have been worse. It was never back enough that I would throw up (although I had a few good gagging sessions). My nausea started to taper off around 10-11 weeks then it just disappeared.

I can't wait to hear if you have one or two in there!! It is so exciting. It is overwhelming at first finding out that there are two but I wouldnt change it for the world. I cant wait until they are here!

August 01, 2008

Best of luck and keep me posted!!!

August 01, 2008

Thanks Liane. You are truly a great inspiration, and just to hear those words of encouragement helps me keep going. I do get discouraged each time I have a negative OPK and HPT, but I try to stay positive and my stress load at work is alot less, so that is helping. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying every day that God knows what he is doing and planning a healthy pregnancy for me very soon.

Thanks so much for your advice. I will keep you posted. I go for a 21 day progesterone level on 8/8/08, so praying for high numbers!!!

Keep us posted with your cute little belly pics!!

((HUGS)))

August 02, 2008

You can bet I will AKT!! :)

August 05, 2008

Just wanted to let you know I got my +OPK today at CD18. I still have my progesterone appt on 8/8/08 which is this Friday, so hopefully they will be high enough. Thanks so much for your kind words in your previous posts. People like you and so many others are what keeps me going and not giving up!!! This is the first time I got a +opk before CD21. Praying this is the month for me!!!

Just wanted to update you and I'll let you know what my levels are on Friday :)

***PRAYING FOR LOTS OF BFP'S THIS MONTH****

August 09, 2008

ITS JUST THE START FOR ME.

MY DOCTOR SAID SHE CANT GIVE ME A MIRACLE PILL TO HELP ME I KNEW OTHERWISE SO I FOUND A NEW DOCTOR. NOW IM ON MY WAY HOPEFULLY TO GETTING PREGNANT

August 10, 2008

Hi Lianne,

Congrats on the babies!!!!!!!!

I am in the same boat that you were in, 3 cycles of clomid on 50 mg. 1st month-no prego, 2nd month-chemical(5 weeks), and 3rd month-no prego. I want to tell my doctor to increase my dosage but I am afraid he will say no b/c I was pregnant once before. What should I do?

August 10, 2008

Hi Ro, I'm sorry to hear you had a m/c :( I just wanted to say that you should talk to your doc about whatever is on your mind. Your doc should be understanding that you have some concerns about your clomid dose and ya never know, he may say yes lets up it or he may say no but have a good reason for it. I hope you post a BFP real soon!!! :)

August 10, 2008

Best of luck ladies!!! Ro, I think Sarah gave you excellent advice!

August 11, 2008

Hey Liane!! Hows the pregnancy?? We need some new pics of ya lol. And I realized just the other day u never told us what ur naming the babies....? =)

Hope all is well!

August 11, 2008

Hi Jennifer. The pregnancy has been going quite smoothly son far! I really can't complain. One thing I can do without is all the comments on my size though....some people can be really rude! I will be taking and posting my 27 week photo tomorrow for you ladies. We wont be finding out the sex of the twins but so far have come down to these names:

Brooklyn Summer Sierens

Madison Nicole Sierens

Nixon Seth Sierens

Nolan Ty Sierens

Zachary Ty Sierens

If it were to be one of each we would most likely choose Brooklyn Summer and Nixon Seth.

August 13, 2008

August 15, 2008

Hi ladies im new to this forum ... everyone congrats on your BFPs!!!

I was wondering if any of you took clomid on cd1-5 before i will be starting on it tomorrow but want to make sure it will work.

August 15, 2008

you are looking great liane!!!!

August 15, 2008

Rubi I did take Clomid on CD1-5 but I didnt get pregnant on those months but I did ovulate. The month I got pregnant I took it on CD3-7 and was taking 100mg!

August 15, 2008

i also am taking it CD 3-7. only 50 mg tho. I hope it works!!!

August 16, 2008

hey Liane, did u take any vitamins while ttc??

August 16, 2008

Hey Jen. I took my prenatals along with folic acid!

August 21, 2008

Congrats Liane...my sister in law has PCOS and is the same amount of time pregnant as you are..she conceived naturally after 4 yrs of ttc. Her baby has spina bifida, and club feet. :( but they are going ahead the baby has a strong heartbeat! Anyway..question about folic acid how much have you been taking and for how long?

August 21, 2008

AWww Smacksie im so sorry for your sister, but that baby will be just as loved :)

I can answer this question for you as Liane had a doctors appointment today, I think it was today, and she probably wont be on for a bit, as I believe her doctors office isnt close to home, but that could have been the fertility place, I got them confused all the time...haha.

Anyways you should be taking a prenatal vitamin everyday. They say starting at like 18 one should start taking them if not sooner. They are very good for you. It takes about 3 months for the folic acid to get into your system. So if you are TTC def start taking them tomorrow.

Ususally one tablet has 800mgs of Folic Acid, and thats what one needs during pregnancy, but its fine to take that while TTC.

I always used the Nature or Spring Valley, cant remember the first name of it from WalMart, its only 8 bucks and the bottle has 240 tables in it. Well worth the money.

Goodluck sweetie and get on those :)

August 21, 2008

Also I was taking it 7-8 months before getting pregnant with this pregnancy. You should take it through TTC, pregnancy, and after pregnancy as well.

August 21, 2008

Jolene, I take WOmen's One a Day multivitamin, but that only has 4000mcg of folic acid. Do you think I'm okay or should I take extra? I got my BFP finally!!! This past Sunday! I've been taking my multivitamin for a year but I saw you mentioned the 800mcg, and mine only has 400mcg.

Any help would be great!

Thanks so much!

August 21, 2008

oops, I meant mine has 400mcg of folic acid, not 4000! hehe

August 22, 2008

Okay..measurements are starting to confuse me I am taking 2mg's of folic acid per day and when I tried to convert online into mcg it said 2000mcg's that seems pretty high when comparing them to what you are all saying?!? I have been taking a prenatal vitamin for about a year. Just ordered fertility aid for men and women but haven't used it yet. I have heard so many good stories about it, but am not sure if it really does anything. My mom was born with spina bifida and club foot so it is prevelant on my side of the family and it is my husband's sister that is pregnant with her baby that has it too...

We are all going to love my sister in laws baby no matter what life brings. The Dr.s wanted her and her husband to abort the baby at 21 weeks I can't even imagine having to even think about that!

August 22, 2008

AKT, def would switch to a prenatal vitamin as a pregnant women should be taking the 800. The prenatal you will see has most of the same stuff your multi does and it will probably be cheaper (WalMart Spring Valley brand in a clear green bottle). Also you could start taking the Omega 3 safe for pregnancy (Expectra), as well. Thats what I have been taking since 12DPO. I have been taking prenatals since June 2007. But yes you really need the 800.

Smacksie, gosh I cant imagine. I had to go through this with my cousin though who had a SEVERELY DS baby and they found out @ 16weeks pregnant, and then she lost the baby not to long after that, it was just horrible!!

I do think you are taking to much folic acid, you only need 800mcg, and thats if pregnant, they say if not 400mcg is totally fine.

I would like I said to AKT switch to a prenatal vitamin and take that, its got so many good vitamins that one needs, and needs to start building up in your system.

Goodluck.

OH and AKT....OMG OMG OMG OMG CONGRATS on the BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STICKY GLUE!!!!!

August 22, 2008

Thanks Jolene! I am so excited!! I'm only about 5 weeks though. And my first appt isn't until Sept 19th. I have been taking the multivitamin for the past year, the one with 400mcg of folic acid, so I will definately switch to a prenatal one!! Thanks for your help and thanks for the sticky glue!!! I need all the prayers I can get!!! It's been a long time coming!!!

I will keep you posted! Luv ya!

August 24, 2008

Cant wait to hear how it goes sweetie, and yeah once pregnant need to start the prenatals, good that you were getting the folic acid though before hand, because they say all one needs pre pregnancy is 400mcg, and during pregnancy 800mcg. Im going to stay one this prenatal until we are done having kids, so I will continue to take 800mcgs after pregnancy and everything.

Im soo excited for ya sweetie :)

Love ya!

August 24, 2008

Thanks Jolene! I will keep you posted and thanks so much for all your support :)

August 25, 2008

Liane how are things?? hows the babies?? hope all is well =) whens ur due date?

August 25, 2008

Sorry to butt in..just happened to read Smackies question on Folic Acid.

Since she has a history of Spina Bifida on both sides, I think the Dr probably Rxd a higher dose of Folic Acid as thats the one known to reduce the risk by 70%. Women that are low risk and dont have seisure disorders usually take 800 mcg.

Smackies, check with ur Dr if thats the reason.

August 25, 2008

Smackies, If your Dr hasnt Rxd you 2 mg Folic acid, you need to talk to ur Dr first. Anything more than 1 mg of Folic acid is strictly Rx strength

August 26, 2008

Just butting in ...LOL

Like Smackies I too take 2mg of Folic Acid Plus Prenatals. My folic acid was RX'd because I have sickle cell. I had RX strength Iron too but it made me SOO sick i stopped them soo after.

August 26, 2008

Yes that is why. Actually my Dr. said I could take up to 5mg's once I become pregnant up to 20 weeks ultrasound, should that happen to me and my Dh! All the dosages do get confusing for all these things!

August 26, 2008

Hey Jenn!!! The babies are doing great! I am 29 w
