Its going to be Looooong, its from the TTC, to finding out pregnant both times, my BBT chart, to doctors appointments and pictures :)
So I figured I would update my journey with everything that we went through from March 2007 of TTC #1 and now being pregnant, currently 22weeks 5days pregnant with a baby boy named Noah Austin Thigpen due date of November 22nd 2008.
Im 23 and was TTC #1 from March 2007 - March 2008 found out I was pregnant on March 13th, 2008, after miscarrying on January 31st 2008 @ 5 weeks pregnant.
Found out I have PCOS August 20th, 2007, and found out I wasnt ovulating from March till I got put on Clomid in September, so about 6 months of trying and couldnt have gotten pregnant. I had to take Prometrium to start all this out and induce my period, because when I went back to the doctor after telling me to wait a few weeks and see what happens I was CD45 and nothing, so they induced my period.
Round 1 Clomid @ 50mgs Taken CD4-8, cycle started September 22nd(CD1). Ovulated CD15, didnt get pregnant.
Round 2 Clomid @ 50mgs taken CD4-8, cycle started October 20th (CD1). Ovulated CD17, didnt get pregnant, but Progesterone level was awesome, 22.2 on 7DPO
Round 3 Clomid @ 50mgs taken CD4-8, cycle started November 19th, did NOT ovulate that cycle, and started Prometrium to induce my period December 14th CD26.
Round 4 Clomid @ 100mgs taken CD3-7, cycle started December 27th. Ovulated CD17, GOT PREGNANT, progesterone was 24.3 on 7DPO, lost the baby @ 5weeks pregnant on January 31st.
SYMPTOMS: Well when my BBT Temp shot up on 12DPO when usually it drops, I knew something was up, so I tested and got my very faint BFP. Went in for blood test and it came back negative. Kept testing each day and still got positives. Couldn’t go back in because we went on a ski trip, and the miscarriage happened the day we got back. Other then my temp spiking my Boobs were VERY sore, and usually after 10DPO or so they stop being sore, but they continued, which was another sign. I started to get a nasty cold as well, other then that was fine.
Round 5 Clomid @ 100mgs taken CD5-9, cycle started January 31st. Ovulated super late CD31, because of the miscarriage from Round 4, and starting Clomid immediately after the miscarriage probably is what caused my cycle to be messed up, as usually after a miscarriage the following cycle is usually irregular.
Progesterone level was 14.3 on 6DPO, which they had me start Prometrium as soon as I got my BFP and took until 12weeks pregnant.
Good thing I waited to ovulate, because I was going to start Prometrium to induce my period on CD30 if I didn’t get a positive OPK that day, and guess what 1 my doctor was out of the office so they wouldn’t prescribe it to me until that Monday, which would have been CD33, but I got a POSITIVE OPK that afternoon of CD30, I couldn’t believe it. I for sure ovulated on CD31 as I had all the MAJOR ovulation pains, and I had a bad cough, and everytime I coughed I felt like my ovaries were going to pop out.
We got Pregnant Round 5, finally with one that wants to hold on. We found out on Thursday March 13th that indeed I was pregnant. I was 12DPO that day we found out, and was still cautious as to what happened last time, but had a great feeling about the whole thing.
SYMPTOMS: Temp shot up on 12DPO like it did the last round, which up until that happened I thought this isn’t it, how could it be, then I woke up on 12DPO took my temp and it was a big rise, and I started shaking. Went and tested and faint but there BFP. I also started to get a cold AGAIN just like the last time, was sneezing a lot. Boobs were extremely sore, which they were of course after ovulation until about 6DPO, and then stopped, and picked back up again around 9DPO, but once they continued and got worse I had a feeling something might be up. I didn’t want to eat lots of chicken anymore, or steak just didn’t taste right to me. Other then that nothing really until I was 6-7weeks when I started to feel sick in the mornings or all day and getting headaches and all that, but that’s about it.
So far so good, and here are the doctor appointments that we have gone to so far, and pictures of my Positive HPTs, Pregnant Pictures, and Pictures of Noah (which will have updated ones from our appointment on Monday July 28th)
Went to our 1st doctor appointment on April 3rd, 6weeks 5days pregnant. Got an ultrasound and baby is measuring as he/she should. We got to SEE the hearbeat via the ultrasound and it was 130bpm.
Went to our 2nd appointment on May 6th, 11weeks 3days pregnant. We got to hear the babys heartbeat for the first time via doppler and it was soo beautiful and I have it saved on my phone. It was 160bpm. Got my cultures, I think thats the name for it done, and blood pressure which was excellent, and weight checked which I actually lost a pound, I was SHOCKED. Cervix he said is perfect and he said my uterus is happy and is expanding as it should...haha.
Went to our 3rd appointment on June 13th, 16weeks 6days pregnant, just had my downs syndrome blood testing done and weight check, and got to hear the heartbeat which now is 138BPM. I was measuring good and lost 3 pounds so far.
Went to our 4th appointment on June 30th, 19weeks 2days pregnant, it was the BIG appointment for the measurements and finding out the sex. Well the second she put the probe on my belly, I said no need to tell me what it is I already know. She asked how do you know? I said because I can tell. She said well what is it then, I said im 100% sure that IT’S A BOY. She said you are 100% right, he is a boy. She said she would bet hers and the offices paycheck on this one…haha. He measured great, only thing she couldn’t get was his 4 chambers of his heart which I will get done at my next appointment on July 28th. I think at this one I had gained some of my weight back, but I didn’t ask the numbers. I will find out on July 28th what I gained for sure so far.
5th appointment to come on Monday :)

I know isnt it amazing. That was @ 19weeks 2days. So I cant imagine the ones we will get on Monday when I will be 23weeks 2days. They said should be more detailed and able to get more shots, but we shall see. Im just glad im getting it done up there and they arent charging me more to do them. I for sure thought I would have to go and get the 4D one, but I have decided to not do it, and just enjoy these pictures :)

Well it was only because I saw it written on a Nursey wall when I was looking for which to do, it was a Monkey one and right when I saw it I said NOAH, thats it his name is going to be NOAH. I just loved it so much, and now Hubby is getting adjusted since we always say Noah now. We love it :)

Yeah Maggie it was bad, after the miscarriage the last time, I had to keep doing tests every other day to make sure they were getting darker and darker, since they didnt want me to come in and do Betas. But I figured it was good for others to see thats why I did it as well :)
UPDATE:
So far so good still. Noah didnt want to behave in the ultrasound. The tech tried so hard to get him to show his face, but he kept hiding it or turning away. I will scan in some of his pics in a little while after I eat lunch and get some work done, but again he didnt behave...haha.
Im measuring right at 23weeks so thats good, only gained 6 pounds so far. I still have what I thought I was told was a yeast infection but now this doctor said its something with my white blood cells, he said its totally fine, but im sick of the yellow leaking discharge, with like balls of white stuff in it, im soo sorry thats TMI but has anyone or is anyone having this? It drives me NUTS! Is there anything I can take for it, because apparently its not a yeast infection, nothing itches or anything.
Also next appointment is the glucose testing, woohoo...haha not. Also I have to get my shot since im RH-, cant wait let me tell ya...I HATE SHOTS! But all is great :)
Does anyone know if after the 28 week appointment it goes 2 weeks right? I forgot to ask, and my next appointment I will be 27weeks 2days, so that will be close enough im sure.

omg jolene congrats congrats congrats!!! i am so happy for you:) those u/s pics are awesome!!!! awww... he was playing shy for the cam huh?..lol , glad to see all is well you look great! can't wait to see more pics:) my dh and i are still trying had to stop the clomid cause it was giving me migraines sop now we are trying the oils, and fertility blend, hope it works:) you take care and glad to see all is well! congrats again on your pregnancy.

Thanks sweetie! Im wishing you the best and pray that you get your BFP soon. Did you think about trying Femara? That is supposed to be somewhat better then Clomid, from what I hear.
Yeah Noah was being camera shy, but it was cute. He is going to take after his daddy, I actually think maybe he was sleeping and was like come on quit poking me with this thing, which is totally taking after daddy...haha!

lol! how cute...:) i don't blame noah one bit though haha no i haven't seen my gyno yet i go on the 30th so i will see what he says. maybe he can lower the dose of the clomid like before so that i have at least the one tablet in me :)

oh.. was just curious cause my pelvic ultra sound came back with a diagnosis of similar qualties to pcos but cannot make accurate determination of it. on my right ovary. so i started on the clomid was fine when taking one tablet a day then he up me to 2 a day and i started having migraines so stopped that. i go to see him in august i will see what he wants to do then. thanks jolene for the info :)
Your welcome sweetie and wishing you the best and to get an answer soon! It was 100% clear as day that I have PCOS pretty bad and on both ovaries. If you had that ultrasound done after getting off birth control it might be why it wasnt as bad. They say birth control can help regulate PCOS and I guess thats because you have regular 28day periods with birthcontrol. I dunno if in an ultrasound it looks any different from when on birth control, just getting off, and being off for 6 months or more, if there are more cysts, less cysts or the same amount, but yeah they were covering both ovaries. The best way I can describe it is it looked like a bee's nest with all the holes (because it was on a 2D ultrasound), crazy!
Just to add what Jolene said, doctors also do blood tests to see your FSH and LH levels. They also test your androgen levels. That's how I was diagnosed when I was in my early teens. People with PCOS have a higher level of male hormone hence why people with PCOS have acne, unsightly hair, anovulation, etc due to lack of female hormone.
angie, my old gp ran all those tests and they came back fine. only thing if i recall her saying was my progestrone was a little low but i am with a new gp and he did a 21 day progestrone in march and it was fine. i'm going to ask him if he'd mind running them again and doing an pelvic ultra sound of not just my ovary but fallopian tubes as well as cervix and uterus see what he says in aug.
I think if your progesterone is fine then you are having a good strong ovulation on your own. There might be another underlying problem though, and only doing a pelvic ultrasound and stuff will help rule out things. Have you asked about getting HSG done? Its to make sure your tubes are not blocked. Some insurance cover it some dont. I was unlucky to find out mine didnt, but my doctor let me put it off, as deep down inside I knew that doing that last round of Clomid would be it, and that my tubes were not blocked, but it was a gut feeling.

Haha thanks. Its how I always do it. I just use my straightener. I basically curl under the ends or flip them out. That time I curled them under. Its because of the layers, but I havent had my hair cut im OMG like 5 months atleast...haha. I need to get that done asap! Maybe I will do that Friday.

Noahs Stroller! Thought I would share. Got this yesterday. Couldnt resist! Love love love it though and its GREAT! Hopefully he enjoys it as much as mommy likes it :)

I feel if something were to go wrong, they highly recommend on furniture and stuff like that to NOT take back to the store and to call the company. I love the design and everything so I wouldnt want to take it back. It had GREAT ratings from Target.com. Also it was orignally 200 and they have a sale through today, and its 159.99, thats one reason I really had to get it, it was soo cute and OMG the price was very cheap from what we were planning on spending.

Hey Jolene, just wanted to let you know that I was able to confirm ovulation with a blood test yesterday. Unfortunately I ovualated late, got a +OPK on CD18 and progesterone check on CD21, so the b/w was done at 2dpo and came back to be 6.5. My doctor was happy with that as it was only 2dpo and I asked him about a retest at 7-10dpo for a more accurate result, but he said no need to. According to the lab they use a 6.5 at 2dpo is considered good. So I'm praying it just keeps going UP!!! So today I'm officially 3dpo and will test probably at 11 or 12dpo if I can wait that long. Keeping my fingers crossed for my BFP!

Hey Jolene, I agree, the longer I can wait the more accurate results I will get :) Thanks for all your advice and I will let you know when I decide to test :) Today is 6dpo, so next Monday at the earliest (I'll be 12dpo then). My DH is already wanting me to test, but I told him to wait!! haha, he is worse than me!!

I used all different kinds. My FAVORITES are off ebay, you can get OPKS from them and HPTs they are great. Now its from the UK so it takes about 2 weeks to get into the states, but well worth it. I loved them! I also used Equate from Walmart, and Clearblue digital as well. Here are pics from the ones off Ebay, Equate and my digital with this pregnancy. Hopefully it will give you some luck looking at them :)

Since it takes 2 weeks, I will probably wait on ordering as I plan to test on Monday 8/18 (12dpo) and if a BFN, then will wait a few days and try again. I do have a digital clearblue left, so I think I have enough for this round :) I'm just praying this is it and I won't need to order any!!!

Jen so your OPK was like the 16 and 18DPO pic, with the OPK the test line needs to be the same color or darker then the control line, and then one usually ovulates 12-36 hours later. You do know that those pics are of my HPTs right?

If the doctors office will do it usually they do it on CD21, and sometimes that would be 7DPO but not all the time. So I would always just call once I got my positive OPK and I would schedule it for the day that I knew was 7DPO if that makes sense.
Also here is the link to the tests I always got. They come from the UK and take 2 weeks to get here but are sooooo worth it! The OPKS look just like the HPTs in the pics above with the blue caps, except the OPKs have a different color cap....I loved the OPKS and HPTS from these people!

hey! jolene i should of ovulated on the 9th of this month (but ran out of tests to know for sure) so i am 9 dpo if didn't ov then. i am going to get on ebay like you and buy those opk's that is awesome ! the prices, i paid almost 5o dollars for a 30day supply of them at target :-O so am going with ebay if still need to :)i noticed my temp the day after we b'dncd go up to 97.7 from a 97.2 stayed at 97.7 the next day, then down to 97.5 today. so watcha think? don't your temps need to be somewhere in the 98's to be preggo? just wondering?

Is this your first month temping? YOu need to be doing it every morning at the exact same time to get an accurate result and to see how your own temps flucuate. Usually they are in the 98s after Oing. Stay in the 98s until about 12DPO, and either can shoot up to the higher 98s or 99s if pregnant, or can fall to the lower 98s or 97s if not, and just keep falling if not pregnant.

i have been charting since the beginning of march of this year everyday @ 6:15am. was on clomid 2 rounds(in which doc said i ovulated) then had to stop due to migraines. am now on that fertiliy blend and am going to order preseed as well. go back to obgyn on the 28th. does that fertility friend.com cost anything? let me know -k- the highest temp i have hit since i started temping is 98.8 that was on 4-24, i did have 98.5 on 4-1, 98.3 on 4-2, 98.1 on 4-3,and 98.0 for the 4-4 and 4-5 then it went down into the 97's. may in the 97's, june in the high 97's july, in the 97's for what i did in month, and now aug's everyday@ 6:15am:) been in the 97's so far highest temp so far this month was 97.7 on aug 14th and 15th , 17th, then dropped down to 97.5 on the 18th. i do have a chart on ivillage.com but just haven't been keeping up with it i will input all that is not on there tonight. let me know about that fertilityfriends thing -k- and thanks jolene
With the temps in the 98s sounds like for sure you are ovulating, but the temps in the 97s im not sure. I knwo that when mine were in the 97s I didnt ovulate, when they were in the 98s I did. On the dates that you are saying, what Cycle Days were you on, how many DPOs were you? Its hard to tell by dates whats going on...hehe.
Fertilityfriend.com is free, you can pay like 25 for 3 months for a special version where you can do a lot more, and I ended up doing that my last 3 rounds of Clomid. It just has more options but the regular one thats free is great too!

hey jennifer it's just like taking regular vitamins:) it's suppose to help with ovulation and for him his sperm count and motility . we purchased ours at gnc for 40 dollars a bottle comes with a 3 month supply and you take 3 capsules a day . yes it's an all natural supplement. hope this helps !

jennifer i have heard a few people talk about fertility blend and they say it worked for them the first month to 3 months of taking it(fingers crossed) but i don't think you are able to take it if on any other fertility rx's. i know when i was taking the clomid thats all i took as well as my regular multiple vitamins because they contain enough of the vitamins and nutrients we need as well as 400mg of folic acid. i haven't heard of any vitamins helping the uterus. thats interesting i may have to look into those too..lol i have heard of preseed for the sperm friendly enviorment which helps our cervixes have enough covering on the walls and linin, but not a vitamin. when are you starting the clomid?
Haha Jennifer I totally understand, I stopped doing my temps for a while, but once I got on Clomid I did them every morning, as to make sure that my OPKs were correct and all that. I didnt want to get a positive OPK and think it was true unless my temps shifted up. They were always correct except for ROund 3 of Clomid when I didnt ovulate, and around CD20 kept getting positives in the AM and negatives in the PM never had a temp shift and knew I didnt ovulate.

I did the baby asprin as well and who knows if it helped or not, but I like to think it did. I was on Round 4 of Clomid when I started the baby asprin, or maybe I started it after the miscarriage, I think thats what I did, so I started it on Round 5 of Clomid.

ok will do =) i guess im just so worried that im not 'healthy' enough so i just want to take a shit ton of vitamins lol. but i do love the B vitamin suppliment its got certiain things in it good for progesterone, and B vitamins give you energy and I love that.

Your B Vitamin should be totally fine I think. Whats the EPO?

Hi Jenn, the Robitussin they say will help with your cervical mucous and help it be thinner so the spermies can swim good. It definately wouldn't hurt to try it and you would want to start it about the time you start your clomid, if not sooner so it has a chance to work. For ex: I took my clomid from CD5-9, so I started taking the Robitussin on CD5 and continued until I got a +OPK which happened to be CD18.

Jenn, yep you should be taking a prenatal vitamin. They are stating now a days that starting them when one gets a period is the best time to take them, as well accidents do happen and prenatal vitamins are so important for a growing baby. It takes time for them to kick in your system a few months.
But yeah start taking them now, and until well your done having children basically, or thats what im doing. They have everything you need on a day to day basis anyways they are great.
You can go to WalMart and get the Natural Valley or Spring Valley I cant remember the first name of it...haha, but its like 7-9dollars a bottle and 240 come in it, and you just take 1 a day.
Once I got pregnant I started takign Expectra as well, its an Omega 3 just for pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Its great. I think they say one can start that near the end of the second trimester to be really effective, because in the first and so it doesnt matter to much, but the day I found out (12DPO), was the day I started taking those, and have taken them everyday. oh yea def. take them. i have been taking my prenatals for.. .im not sure how long, ive gone thru a whole bottle already and had to get more when i went and got all my other vitamins... so i think its been about 3 months but i can't remember. time is so strange. lol all i can think about is the future.

Its funny because this is all i can think about day in and day out... I can't wait until I start school next week, you wont hear from me as much (hopefully) Nothing against u guys I LOVE YOU GUYS =) but I need to distract myself for a while and just take the clomid and BD around O like its no big deal. I do not want to stess myself out. I need to focus on work and school and just let the clomid work the way its supposed to lol. I have to figure out how to let go of this anxious/wanting to be in control feeling. LOL
Jenn, yep you should be taking the prenatals everyday. So start taking them again, you need to build up the folic acid in your sytem for when you get pregnant, because it does take like 3 months for ones body to either except it or it start to build up, and thats VERY VERY important for a growing baby :)
Jennifer, The prenatal is just fine you dont want to take anymore then the 800mgs of folic acid. Just take what it says on the back on the prenatal, most are usually one a day, some of the prenatals out there will rip you off by saying if not pregnant take 1 a day (it splits up the amount, where you should take 800mgs you are only taking 400mgs), usually they recommend that if not pregnant, if pregnant then you should take 2 of course. Most of the prenatals now I think are going to putting the whole amount in them and it being in 1 pill....does that make sense??
If the back of your box says take 1 a day, and it lists that it has 800mgs of folic acid in it, then you are good to go, if it says take 1 if not pregnant and has only 400mgs, and take 2 if pregnant and doubles it, then switch to the Nature Valley or Spring Valley ones at Walmart. Its 240 in a bottle and its only like 8 bucks or so.
Im sure going to school will help SOOO much with keeping your mind off things. Im so glad Im done but at times while TTC wished I was in school getting my mind off TTC.

HI JOLENE CONGRATS ON THE BABY BOY SORRY I HAVE NOT WROTE IN AWHILE I GOT PUT IN THE HOSPITAL I GOT REALLY SICK AND ALMOST LOST THE BABY BUT ON APRIL 18 2008 I HAD A C-SECTION AT 10:00AM AND HAD A HEALTHY BABY BOY 8POUNDS14OZ 21INCHES LONG BI BABY UH HE IS NOW 4MONTHES OLD NOW AT16 POUNDS GETTING BIG FAST HIS NAME IS DEREK IAN JARAMILLO THANK YOU SO MUCH U HELPED ME IN SO MANY WAYS GOOD LUCK WITH THE BABY AND I AM SO HAPPY FOR U.
Jenn, no its not good to take to much folic acid, and maybe the fertility blend is good for now but once you get pregnant and dont take that anymore, def get prenatals. The biggest thing is the folic acid.
I would make a post and get others comments, but I think take the fertility blend now, and once preggo get on prenatals :)
