About me!

September 14, 2007

I have been trying to get pregnant for about a year and a half now. I have tried everything to make me ovulate. Acupuncture, Reflexology, Yoga..everything and since that nothing has helped. So..I have started taking Provera and am soon to begin a round of clomid, and hopefully that will do the trick! Hope to meet and talk to you all soon! We are all in this together..much babydust to each and everyone of us trying to conceive!

September 14, 2007

Hi Jen,

it's good that you're trying all these healthy things! and i'm hopeful that between the Provera and the Clomid, you'll be on your way!! to get pregnant!

yes we're in this together!

September 14, 2007

I agree! Hey Jen, said I wouldnt be on but, decided to get on for a sec! This round of Provera/Prometrium (me) and Clomid, I hope works for the first round! Fingers and toes crossed and lots and lots and lots and lots of babydust...haha.

Have a great night, Good luck Veronica as well!!!

September 15, 2007

Yes, I am a true believer that if we are just patient..we will be able to achieve what we want. Patience is the key here!!!

September 16, 2007

Good luck, lots of *+*+*+ BABY DUST*+*+*+ to you

September 18, 2007

Jen, I really love your positive attitude! I hope you get a BFP really really soon!!!! :)

September 18, 2007

Thank you Sar22222, I guess it's important to stay positive. THe more positive energy that we have in our body the better! Thank you for your kind comment!

September 19, 2007

I agree with you, Jen. Negative energy eats you up inside. It causes unnecessary stress...something that you don't know when you are ttc or even after you conceive. We're hoping to hear a BFP news from you soon! :-) Good luck!

September 20, 2007

Hey Lexie...how are you feeling?

October 06, 2007

HI!

I am currently seeing a RE. Due to low ovualtions they have me on Letrozole and now they are starting me on Dexamethasone Oral med. I am very anxious on the results!! How long have you been ttc? I also tried Clomid, I actually went up to 100mg.... Good luck!!!

July 28, 2008

Hey guys I have a question.

How much does a RE approx. cost? I dont think insurance covers it does it? How much, (if you dont mind me asking) is it running you guys to have visits with a RE instead of you regualr OBGYN?

I'm seriously considering it, but don't know if I should just wait and see if the clomid will work first...

July 28, 2008

if you have insurance, check with your company. they might cover it. there are a lot of companies that are starting to cover fertility issues. for example, my coverage is $20 copay with a lifetime maximum of $10,000. i'm sure all companies vary. i don't know where mine falls in good or bad coverage. i'd say any coverage is good. i don't know what the cost is without insurance...

July 28, 2008

How long have you been on the Clomid and stuff? I decided that if 5 rounds of Clomid and 2 rounds of Femara and doing the HSG to make sure tubes were open then I would switch, even though my docs office specializes in infertility as well.

I finally got pregnant on Round 4 of clomid miscarried and that very next cycle took Clomid again, had super late ovulation on CD31 because of the miscarriage and then got pregnant and im currently 23weeks 2days pregnant.

I have PCOS and dont ovulate on my own, and I did 50mgs the first 3 rounds, ovulating 2 of them, but not the 3rd, then got bumped to 100mgs for Rounds 4 & 5.

Hopefully the Clomid works for you, and I would seriously give it a chance, because chances are an RE might say the same thing, if you just started off on it, but again I dont know your story so I cant say.

Wishing you the best!!!

July 28, 2008

Haley I agree, and I agree with the fact that any coverage is good. Mine wouldnt cover a dime of infertility and we have great insurance, but the company my husband works for, wont check off on there to do infertility. It depends on what the company wants to cover.

July 28, 2008

we have aultcare.

its actually very very good insurance. its through my husbands work. its a union job.

i hope it covers some of this!

we're well off, but by no means have extra money to just spend like this!

I pray that this will be easy.

Im happy you got pregnant on clomid. CONGRATS!

Any words of advice for me??

July 28, 2008

I havent started on clomid yet. Have to wait until my test results come back ok. If everythings good to go then they are starting me on clomid.

Can you tell me what you did while on clomid? I want to try everything I can to make this work.

I also do not ovulate on my own.

Hoping clomid helps...

July 28, 2008

I was like you, we do very good for ourselves, and owned a nice house, and then sold it, and moved into a bigger home (once we were 5months pregnant), but the thought of my insurance not covering infertility and seeing an RE and putting all that money into it scared me, and was hard for me to swallow. So I totally understand where you are coming from. Even doing HSG for 1,500 out of pocket, I was like well I will do it but praying that Clomid, or Femara worked before having to do that.

Words of advice...hmmm...stay positive, as positive as you can. Stay happy and smile a lot and laugh a lot. Know that when its your time it will happen and that God has a plan for us all and all we can do is help our situations with knowing we are helping it and doing our best but if its not our time its not our time. That really helped me cope at times.

Know Clomid can cause some mood swings but tell hubby to get used to it because pregnancy is worse...haha, but always laugh about them later, make sure that you have sex the right times (once you get a positive OPK have sex that day, the next and the next to have a good shot of getting pregnant), have hubby have a sperm analysis done if havent already to make sure its not both of you (we had ours done when starting the 3rd round of clomid). Pre-Seed is great for lubrication and is very sperm friendly. Def. make sure you are using OPKS. If you buy the cheaper ones from CVS that have 30 (I think its 30), in a container, also get a good set that has like 7 in a package, the second you see that the line is maybe dark enough but not sure, use the really good kind. Also peeing in a cup is so much easier when doing OPKs this way, and its just easier to hold the test in the cup for 10 second versus wondering if you peed on it enough, same goes for HPTs.

Thats all I can think of so far...haha, wishing you the best and if you need anything im here and so is everyone else :)

July 28, 2008

well, my insurance covers it for up to maximum of $50,000 lifetime. I am actually very lucky, I know many insurance companies do not cover it. Downside is I can only go to one fertility clinic to get coverage. So I have to go into the city for all of my treatments.

I will be honest, my RE actually gave me the option of going into IVF but I really wanted to try Clomid first since it is less invasive than IVF.

I am on my 2nd cycle of Clomid IUI. I am really hoping that this works!

Good Luck and Baby Dust to you!

July 28, 2008

Thanks guys! Best advice ever =)

July 28, 2008

Your welcome, and if I think of anymore things that really helped me I will let you know, but main things stay positive and laughing and yes its ok to get down if AF shows and all that and to cry, but just try and remain positive for the most part. My motto was 95% positive, 5% sad, upset, dont understand why, why isnt it my turn, this isnt fair.

Also OPKs best investment you will make especially since you arent ovulating and you want to make sure that Clomid @ its smallest dose works. Also to BD (babydance), the night or day of the positive OPK, the day after (ovulation day usually), and then day after ovulation. Also start BDing around CD8 every other night until that positive OPK, that will help with the sperm and getting it flowing good, and will help increase chances of pregnany, as sperm can live in you for 5days or is it 3, I cant remember. I always did 3 but I think its 5.

Also with OPKS and me and being on Clomid I found that doing them around 3-5 in the afternoon got the best result, make sure you dont drink anything for atleast 2 hours before doing it, also try and hold your pee in for 2 hours before taking it as well. The reason I found it easier to do them later in the day was because I did get false positive OPKS one time and it was because I was doing them in the morning and my PCOS was making an LH surge for some reason, but when I was doing them in the morning those times I was also doin them in the evening this is the only reason I caught this.

Also since I know you havent started Clomid yet, visit this ebay site, and order these OPKs, they work great and are super cheap, it takes about 2 weeks for them to get here, because they come from the UK but its sooooo worth it.

I always got these and those cheapo ones from CVS, and would use the CVS ones until I though it might be dark and if I thought so then would use the other kind to be sure. You could just order like a quantity of 2 (they come in packs of 15) or so of the ones im talking about and just use them, they are really good and again cheap! You can also mix and match and get like 10 OPKs and 5 HPTs in an order.

Sorry this is so much info, but trying to be as descriptive as possible and to help you as much as I can!

They are 14.89 + 4.97shipping, for a pack of 15 and again you can choose all 15 OPKS or 8OPKs 7HPTs, whatever. But again you could make 2 orders and do 15OPKs in the first, and 10 in the second and 5HPTs with that, to insure you have plenty!

Thanks so much man you are like a life saver. no one has ever given me this much info. lol. can you explain to me how u used the OPKs? did you use one every day? or did you just wait until a certain day in your cycle to start using them?

Also, my doctor said that when they put me on clomid they will also do an ultrasound to see the folicles or whatever, and they said they should be able to tell me when and if i will ovulate in that cycle. did you doc do that? should i request it get done? or will the OPKs tell me if the clomid is working?

also, lol, did u take any vitamins or minerals or any suppliments of any kind while (or before) u were on clomid?

What was the reason you were on clomid? were your cycles irregular? thats my reason. did clomid shorten ur cycles?

and... (sorry!) u said you had a miscarriage the first time around when u got prego on clomid (im sorry to hear that) im so fearful that will happen to me. do you know why it happened, or anything u can suggest that i have my doc check to try to not only conceive on clomid but to keep it as well?? i've read about having irregular levels of estrogen or progestone can cause a miscarriage...?

haha, i think we need to start our own thread to keep up our info.

lol

my email is cjwolfjen@yahoo.com and my

myspace is www.myspace.com/jenwolfhansonrocks

just incase you wanted to tell me all your info somewhere else. lol

up to you

again thanks so much!! =)

Hey sweetie I will share here...haha, its fine :)

Ok lets see I think that doing the ultrasounds to check your follicles is a great idea, and not sure I would use OPKs if they are doing that, as they can about tell you when you will ovulate. You can ask for them to give you a trigger shot (Ovidrel Shot), when the follicles are of good size to be released. So bring that up as well. Ask if the follicles get to be of good size to ovulate and my body doesnt ovulate them, can we just do the ovidrel shot. That should work, and once you take that shot you ovulate within 12-36hours I believe or 24-36. I never took that.

I took prenatal vitamins from the time we started until now and will take them for the rest of my life until menepause as they are really good to take in general. They have great vitamins in them, and its good to get the folic acid built up in your system. It takes a good 3 months for that to build up, and you want that for the baby for sure. So def go ahead and start taking those ASAP. I get mine from WalMart and its the Spring Valley brand, its like 7 bucks for 240 bills, and you take them once a day. Also once I found out I was pregnant I started to take Expectra and its an Omega 3 and DHA safe for pregnancy, and its very good to take once you get pregnant.

I was on Clomid because I dont ovulate on my own. I have PCOS. Once I got off the pill in March 2007 my cycles kept getting more and more irregular. They would be anywhere from 45-60days before I would get a period, and even then the period was light (which is called breakthrough bleeding when your not ovulating). Thankfully I had an annual PAP for August and we sat down and let him know all the problems. PAP came back fine but when he went to feel my ovaries he had to send me back to ulrasound to get them checked because he felt something, which came back to be PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), and thats when he let me know I wasnt ovulating at all and that the 6 months we had been TTC never could have got pregnant.

The Clomid helped a lot. I did 3 rounds @ 50mgs, with the 3rd round not ovulating. Then did 4&5 @ 100mgs.

Yes did get pregnant on the 4th round and miscarried, but there is nothing one can do to prevent a miscarriage it could have been anything. My progesterone levels were great that cycle so they dont think that was it, but they could have dropped down from 7DPO when I found out I was pregnant and maybe thats why I miscarried. So when I got pregnant this round and my levels were lower then normal, they put me on progesterone meds until my 12th week.

Ok I think that answers everything for now, if you have any questions once again im here!

Lots of love and wishign you the best!!!
