It's been a long, long road...

March 23, 2008

I am a 31 year old nanny, who gets to watch other's children every day, but long to be able to watch over my own someday. Dh and I have been ttc for 2 years, and have not gotten a single BFP... kinda thinking that they are a myth!! :-)

I have a WONDERFUL 4 year old sdd, and it breaks my heart every other weekend to have to give her back! I finally got health insurance in February, so now we will definitely be prepared for when we finally get our little one. I have my first dr. appt. scheduled for April 24th. I can't wait to just figure out what has been the problem-- maybe we will be closing out the year or bringing in the new one with our own baby!!!

Good luck Georgia, i hope you get your own baby as well!

Lots of Baby Dust to you!!!

Hello, it's great that those parents have such a caring and trusting person to watch their children. I wish you the best of luck during you journey of ttc. This is a great site and very helpful. Have you don't anything to help with ttc like using OPK or doing any tests since you have been trying for so long? Lots and lots of luck!

Hi I to am a nanny best job in the world and have been tring for like 5+yrs so I understand hope everything works out for you.

March 24, 2008

Thanks, ladies.

Shonazz- No, we haven't had dh's sperm count tested, but that is def a thought that we've both had. I think we have to have me checked out first (blood work and tubes??) before they do dh, right? He seems to think it is him, I think it's to try to make me feel better. Either way, we'll get me done, like I said, at the end of April, so at least we are heading in the right direction, either way!!! :-)

March 24, 2008

jenstar- I have tried the OPKs, and this month we tried Vitex, so we will see.... I am finally becoming more aware of the cm factor- never really paid to much attention to in til last month. But still should have happened by now, dh and I RARELY miss more than a night, maybe 2 (if 1 of us is out of town. Lol) of bd!!! :-) And that's been for 2 years! But it's ok, I know that one day, it'll be our turn. It's def been a lesson in patience!! Lol

March 24, 2008

Moni- I agree, it IS the best job in the world! I used to teach, and just missed the one- on- one so much. Been in this field for 5 yars now, and have never been happier!!!

March 26, 2008

I hope it all works for you... please keep me updated on the Vitex. I don't have medical insurance right now (we should be getting it here at work soon) so I'm going to try Vitex for now.

I really like it right now! I no that I ovulated really well this month... I have felt all sorts of "good 'ol progesterone" symptoms this month that I have NEVER felt, and this is the first month trying it out. I don't really feel anything now (except sore bbs, tired, mild lower back pain, mild headaches off and on) I don't expect this month to bring a BFP, but I am due for af on Friday, so we will see... Good luck to you, Texas!

March 26, 2008

I'm sorry I'm so new to this what is a AF?

March 26, 2008

aunt flo-- period

April 27, 2008

Nope, not yet... actually on cd2 : ( But that's okay, went to gyno on thursday, and at least we are getting the ball rolling. He said we will do Progesterone tests on 7dpo this month, then if that checks out, get dh checked, then if THAT is all good, we will wait til we have extra $$$ to do hsg (which, between you and me, I think that is what it is). Soooo.... that's that.

What about u? Anything happening with you yet?

June 05, 2008

Hey Georgia, Haven't heard from u in a while. Hope all is well. Look forward to talking to u soon

June 05, 2008

Hey, Shawnee! Thanks for your concern... after last month's BFN (my 25th BFN so far since ttc, and was never pg before either) I kinda decided to take a little ttc and F/T break, to give myself a little time to just feel SANE again!!! I feel like it consumes my every thought when I am in that ttc mindset. I have been trying to come on to check on people, but have only stayed for a couple of minutes each time. I do feel like I am a LOT more at ease with everything- I didn't buy a single OPK this month, and I guess I should O in the next week, but don't even know for sure. I just am trying not to think about it, and I feel really happy for the first time in a LOOOOONG time, so I think this is a good thing! :) Once summer is over, and the kids I nanny for go back to school, I will get back into ttc mode, but I just want to enjoy the summer, and NOT be stressing out, for a change!

Anyway, how are you doing? I read that you had your second IUI last week- how exciting!! I really hope this is your month. You really deserve this, sweetie. Sending you tons and tons of Baby Dust!

Well, let me know how you're doing, and hopefully I will be able to catch you on here soon!

Do not waste time with an OB/GYN! They do not know about infertility. Find the money to go to an RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist). I've been active on a variety of boards about infertility for a number of years and regret every day I wasted with my OB/GYN - as do most of the women on the boards. They simply are not trained to look for the issues.

Most OB/GYNs take the blood tests and such on the wrong days and give so much bad information to patients that it makes one want to cry!

If you have been trying for 2 years you are actually overdue for a consult with an RE. Since you said 25 months, is over two years!

Second, it is faster, cheaper, and easier for your husband to get his sperm count checked than for the tests you will need to get.

I am not trying to scare you, but the OB/GYNs seem to be unaware that every year over 30 lowers your chances for ART to work if you need it - and every year over 35 DRAMATICALLY decreases your chances for ART (if needed) to work. This is why the statistics for most infertility clinics separate out the various age groups for reporting purposes. (You have to be careful of the statistics, but they are a place to begin to understand how to choose a clinic.)

So, I beg of you, try and get a consult with an RE and skip your OB/GYN for this.

Thanks for the info, MLO. I just got insurance a few months ago, so I hadn't even been to the gyno til April since we had been ttc. But at the end of summer, I will try to find an RE, as I had been thinking that was going to be necessary, anyway. But the issue IS going to be the $$$. I don't even have any idea what we will be looking at, so I am a little worried to find out, just to realize we can't afford it, anyway. I don't know... I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.
