wow ferrell me and u are in the exact same boat!! Please keep me posted on ur journey!! What cd are u right now? an when did u do IUI? I would ask the Dr for a hcg shot too, increases ur chances. Also if u don't mind me asking, how old r u?

I am on CD 14 today. And you know it might just be my imagination, but yesterday I felt a sharp pain on my left side (ovary) I am thinking I may should "BD" just in case...I dont know..I mean the doc said more than likely I won't O this month, but I have never had that sharp pain like that. I am 28years old and I am not doing IUI until they get me ovulating of course. Then we will schedule that, and yes he is doing the hcg shot cause we want to make sure I release the egg if I finally get one, ha!!

Hey Ferrell, I am on the same thing as you this month... but instead of Clomid I am on Femara. How are you doing with the metformin?

So far so good. But its only been 2 days, ha!! The 750 doesnt bother me as much as 1500 does though. So we will see..

Hi ladies, I have started the Metformin today 750mg once daily for the first week, then twice daily for the 2nd week and up until I get pregant. I hope the side effects aren't bad for us!

Amanda, do you like the Femara better? I was just wondering b/c this is my 3rd round of clomid and I didn't ovulate on the 1st or 2nd round. So I was just curious as to what your opinions were.

I don't really have a "prefernce" between Femara and Clomid; neither have made me ovulate yet :( I did three rounds of Clomid (50 mg, then 100, then finally 150) and never did ovulate. This is my third round with Femara, but this time we've combined it with Metformin, so hopefully it'll make me Ovulate.

The metforminin gave me terrible stomach problems the first two weeks, but now that I've been on it a month it's pretty much taken care of itself. I just hate taking those big horse pills!

I HEAR THAT AMANDA...MET SUCKS, BUT HOPEFULLY IF IT HELPS THEN IT WILL BE WORTH IT.

That's what I keep telling myself! If I get that BFP, it'll all be worth it!! But as soon as I get that BFP, i want off it asap!!

My new Dr said there has been recent studies showing that it is recommending that pcos women stay on metformin thru the entire pregnancy and for life! Don't shot the messenger, I', just telling u what I heard! It hasn't bothered me to much yet, I just started 1000mg today, so we will see.

Like u said Amanda, it will all be worth it no matter what we go thru once we have out healthy babies!!!

Yeh you will. I mean these doctors know what they are talking about for the most part and with us having PCOS, then we need to listen. I mean what other options do we have. I think probably you wouldnt have to take it the rest of your life, if the symptoms came under control but if we do, then we do. At least we won't have acne, hair, and be fat haha! I hope I start losing. Im going to start my diet and exercise Sunday, so I think with that, plus this met, that I may be on my way. We can do this girls, just think of our future babies. They are so worth it. We need to take care of ourselves, before we think about taking care of someone else. So just while each of you are going through this process, including myself, we just need to in the meantime work on our own bodies and minds and focusing on that, and before we know it we will all be on here shouting out our BFP's. We have to stay positive through all this, and I know if we do what we need to do, then God is going to bless each and every one of us. He has a plan for all of us, and I think all these years we all have tried to take control of the situation, and in all honesty its not in our control. So being put on meidcations is what we need to do, and its getting our minds right to say ok we need to get this weight off to.

WE CAN DO IT!! Don't look back, today is a new day, Lets BRING IT! ha!

How are you doing??

I am doing ok. I had a bad day today, just didnt feel good. Had the worst headache known to man. Not sure if its a side effect of the met or what. Other than that doing good. How about yourself?

well today has been an aweful stomach day... I've ran to the bathroom 5 times today. Not sure if it's related to the metformin or just something I hate, but either way, not fun stuff!

I started the Femara the day before yesterday, so heres keeping my fingers and toes crossed for a +OPK!

If I didn't conceive this cycle Dr is going to measure my uterine lining and if he not thrilled w/ it he will start me on femara. How many mg are u on and has it made i O?

I am on 1500 mgs of Metformin... i've been on it almost a month now (i think!)

I'm on 5 mg of Femara, this is my third round. I haven't O'd on it yet, but this is my first cycle being on it with Metformin, so i'm hoping that will do the trick! I feel very optimistic this round, but i'm fighting so hard not to let myself get my hopes up!

Good Luck Amanda! I just started Met too, only 6th day on it, and it's going okay. Only 1st few days had diahrea but now it's okay. I am suppose to start taking 2 pills a day on Thursday, so I'm sure the diahrea will be back. I am taking 750mg now, then will up to 1500mg by Thursday.

Praying that your combo with the Femara works!

I just found out that I hopefully ovulated on CD30 (my clearblue digital OPK was ++) for the first time ever! This was my 2nd round of clomid, been ttc since last summer, so it's definately been a let down all these months, and then to finally get a +OPK was so exciting. My doc is checking my progesterone on May 20 to confirm ovulation, so hopefully my digital test was right!

well i took my last dose of Femara today, so hopefully i'll ovulate! I pray I do!!!! I got for the 21 day progestrone test in 2 weeks... so we'll see!

Hi Amanda!! Good luck!!! I'm praying for us all that we have a good month this month!! Do you use OPK's at all??

Just to let you know that I was using OPK's and never got a + result, and got my first + on CD 30 this cycle, so I'm praying that these progesterone results will reflect that!! So don't give up and if you can use OPK's, that will help too. You may O late, like I did, so I'll be praying that this new combonation works for you!!

i am not going to use OPKs this month cause I'm just tired of 'em... I need a break from having a P-stick telling me if it's going to be a good day or not! lol.

Did you take hte 21 progestrone test and they tell you you didn't ovulate and then you ovulated on day 30?

Yeah, that's pretty much what happened. My progesterone at day 21 was 0.4 again. And then got my +OPK on CD30.

But now I really don't know what is going on b/c it's 4dpo (supposedly) and I started having this brownish pinkish spotting, so I guess that means that AF is here. I don't really know what to think of it :o( I don't get how you can ovulate on CD 30 and get your period 5 days later...

I'm just so screwed up :o(

I've got to talk to my doctor now, not sure what is going on :(

akt, maybe implantation bleeding....... I would post a question to Dr Q, and see what he thinks.

Body is defintley getting better. Actually, it doesnt' seem to be much of a problem anymore. I have found that my stomach is more sensitive to getting upset if I over eat... maybe that's how the met helps ya loose weight! :-D

akt, what made you continue w/ the OPKs? Did the doctor tell you too, or did you just want to to see? Like Shawnee said, it *might* be implantation bleeding

Hi Amanda, the only reason I continued with the OPK's was b/c I heard that you can ovulate late on clomid, so I was just checking my chances all the way up thru at least CD34 or so, and if they were negative, I was going to just start the next round of provera and clomid, and continue the Metformin. And since I got that + on CD30, I was hoping that I was about to Ovulate. It was even postive on the digital one (smiley face showed).

So I'm not really sure...

Thanks for the encouragement, but knowing how my luck has been this past almost year of TTC, it's probly AF showing her ugly self!

The metformin is still doing okay for me. I go up to 2 pills a day (1500mg) tomorrow.

I go up to 1500 tomorrow to. We will be together. So are any of you being looked at by ultrasound? AKT? The reason I ask is cause they didnt see the "2" decent size eggs at that point, so wanted to see if its possible to get those later? Help!!

Hi Ferrell, no I'm not being monitored by ultrasound. Looks like AF is here now. I'm not sure why I got a +OPK on CD30 and AF came 5 days later...doesn't make any sense. I hope nothing is wrong :(

I am on the 1500mg Metformin now too, so hopefully that will help.

This will be my 3rd round of clomid and 1st with adding the Metformin. So hopefully this 3rd time is the charm!

Sorry I couldn't help with your ultrasound question. I'm not sure about that one.

Hi Amanda, yeah, I don't have a clue about that. It was clearly a smiley face digital. So...maybe I'm getting closer. I'm now CD3, starting all over and am taking my 3rd round of clomid 100mg again. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Ferrell, yeah, it's definately AF...it's in full flow now :( Oh well....I'm not giving up! I'm praying that maybe third time is the charm :) Especially with the Metformin on board.

AF arrived yesterday.....So I'm cd2 akt, we are cycle buddies.. Im hoping the metformin does the trick for me too!!! Gota call my Dr 2morrow and have him call in the clomid, I'm gonna ask him for the strongest dose they give!! This cycle has to be our cycle!!!

As of today, 5-18-08, I am CD5. I am taking my clomid days 3-7 at 100mg. This will be my third round. The only difference is that I am trying exercise better and my doctor added Metformin which I've been taking for a little over a week now. I'm at 1500mg of Metformin. So I'm praying the combo works!

Oh- and I'm thinking of not using OPK's this cycle. I think using them last cycle was just so stressful, I used them from CD9 to CD30 (when I got my +) I just don't know if I can keep worrying with that everyday. I think maybe the worrying is not helping. So I'm thinking I may just start BD'ing every other day from CD9 to 21 or until the witch AF shows, which I hope she doesn't. I'm going to try not to think about it so much and just enjoy the time with DH and I'm praying it will happen then.

How about you? What is your plan? I see you mentioned about increasing the clomid. This just HAS to be it for us!!

akt, have you ovulated yet on Clomid? I'm on a femara combined with metformin for the first thing this month, so hoping that it works! I am not using OPKs this cycle either. Like you said, it's just too stressful... I mean, BD is suppose to be something you enjoy right? Not something you schedule cause a calendar or OPK says so! I'm praying for all of us this month: this WILL be it!!

Thanks Amanda!! No, I haven't ovulated on clomid yet. This is only my third round and hopefully last! First round was 50mg, no ovulation. Second round was 100mg, no ovulation by CD21, but got positive OPK on CD30, then AF showed on CD35.

So now on to the third round, 100mg clomid + 1500mg Metformin that I've been on for just over a week now. So yes, I'm praying the combo works for us all!!! And like you said IT WILL AND THIS WILL BE OUR MONTH!! And Shawnee's too!!!!!

Hopefully I didn't confuse you above, about the ovulation with clomid. I honestly don't know if I ovulated, even though the 2nd round on CD30 I got a ++digital OPK, then AF showed 5 days later. So of course, I didn't have any blood work to back up that +OPK. Hopefully I did and this will be it!!

Dr prescribed Femara 5mg this cycle instead of the clomid, not sure why cuz I was ovulating from the clomid. But Dr knows best right? And I've heard really great thing about Femara, Amanda u will have to fill me in. He wants me to start it on cd5 thru cd9, today I'm just cd3 so 2 more days, and the nurse said take 1 pill twice a day, one in the morning and the other at night..is that right? Or is it both pills together? How do u take it? I too am on Metformin this cycle, It's been almost 4 weeks that I have been on it and I'm up to 1500mg's, I hope this combo does the trick too!!! WE NEED OUR BFP THIS CYCLE LADIES!!!!!!!! On cd10-11 the Dr wants to do a u/s to check follies and lining, if everything looks good then I will do the trigger again followed by IUI, they say ur chances increase w/ each IUI treatment, we will see!!!

Hey Amanda, sorry I havent been on here long enough to respond. Been crazy busy these past few weeks. I am doing ok. Not really ttc again till after August. Reason being we are going on a 7 day cruise, so I dont want to do all these procedures that we have planned till we get back so that I can have fun and not worry about anything but trust me my september cycle we will be back in that doctors office. I can't wait.

Oh and I am doing ok on the metformin, taking once at night and once in the am. Doesnt seem to give me trouble. Before when I took it I took them both at morning, and thats probably why I was so sick. To strong of a dose in one sitting. Ouch!! My other doc didnt tell me how to take it appropriately. hmmmmmmmmmm imagine that.

WOOHOO, GUESS WHAT GUYS I STARTED AF ON MY OWN, NO PROVERA, NO MEDS, NO NOTHING. IM SO EXCITED. I GUESS WE WILL START THE CLOMID TOMORROW THROUGH 8 DAYS AND THEN GO IN ON DAY 12 TO SEE IF I HAVE ANY EGGS.IM SO EXCITED. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I GOT AF ON MY OWN SINCE 2002...YEEHAW!!

My doctor has decided to have me take a break from clomid and continue the Metformin to see if AF shows on her own too. I hope she does! Unless I get pregnant by some miracle. It would be a major thing for me too, as I usually have to get provera to get AF started. I will get my periods randomly. Since last July 2007 when we started TTC I have only gotten my period 2 times on my own. All the other times were with provera.

So it's definatley exciting and that means your body is on it's way back to doing what it's suppose to!! yay!! Did you do anything different?? Eat differently, exercise, etc? Or just no meds?

Well not really. I just took the metformin like I had been. I did do the 6week body makever for 2 days, ha!! And i do think it cleaned my body out just for that time frame, but not sure if thats the reason. Who knows, but I guess we will start clomid today 150mg and see what happens on day 12...woohoo!

haha, the 6wk body makeover for 2 days! I love that! You are too funny! Well I'm sure that clomid will do great for you at 150mg. If nothing happens for me this next month being off clomid, then I will start 150mg at well, with the Metformin!
