Nicotine Patches VS Smoking?

I know that both of them are bad but Im wondering which one is alittle if any are better?

I know that smoking constricts the blood vessels and the patch goes right into ur blood. If u had to make a choice then what would u say?

Im not preggo but I am TTC and I have been smoking for over 10yrs now. Im wanting to quit but its very hard so Im wondering if either of these would be better then one?

In-house vs outside labwork and IUI success rate

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 14 months. We saw one RE, who diagnosed mild male factor infertility, and recommended IUI with Clomid, but required that all bloodwork for the IUI be done at their clinic. Unfortunately, our insurance would not cover this, and it would have more than quintupled our out of pocket costs. So we had to seek out an RE that would allow bloodwork to be done at out outside lab, that our insurance did cover. Our original RE's claim was that an outside lab like Quest: a) couldn't get the bloodwork back in time, and b) didn't have accurate enough equipment. They said that when they were allowing labwork to be sent out, the IUI's weren't successful.

What do you think? How, if at all, does where labwork is done, effect the outcome of IUI?

Thank you

Clomid questions for Dr. Eva

Dr. Eva,

I am on my 3rd round of clomid currently and I am getting a little nervous about the success rates. Each website has different information. I am on 150mg of clomid and 2000mg of metformin. I ovulated on my second round which was 100mg but my progesterone level was only 14.4. Thus for they increased me to 150mg this round and I had a positive opk tuesday. Do my chances increase with the added metformin (I have pcos)?

Too soon for IUI?

Dr. Q-

my husband and and I have been trying for a year-I"ve been on 50 of Clomid for 3 months. We did a Semen analysis and motility was slightly slow but GYN said nothing too worry about. She wants to start IUI.

Shouldn't she exam me first to rule out anything going on with me? Example maybe tubes blockes etc? or is it normal to start IUI soon after clomid- the thing is I don't know if I'm ovulating or not because she says OPKS are a waste of time. I did use them in one cycle and one line was dark and the othe was faint so maybe I need to try 100 clomid before doing IUI? I just thought it was too soon to do IUI and she should do more tests but I'm not sure what other tests are out there that she can do on me. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Rachel

Dr's Ladies??? Does anyone know?? Please help...IMPORTANT!!!

Ok so my big ultrasound is Thursday. I have been wanting to get this one recorded. The doctor said he would do it but it has to be a DVD RW. I went to the store yesterday to get the DVD and they had DVD-RW and DVD+RW (the plus and the minus are different) My first question is, what is the difference between the two? Which one should I buy?

adoption? or one of my own?

Is adoption and ttc at the same time a bad thing? A friend of mine called, and said that her teenage daughter was raped, and is pg. They believe sbortion is killing a baby, so they aren't sure what to do. I told them that I would adopt the baby, but I am not sure now if I should. My hubby and I talked about it today, and he asked what if I get pg between now and then? would I be able to take care of 2? Or would I not want to adopt? She is due in May, so we have a few weeks/months to decide. I also know I am going to see a specialist soon, and discuss the idea of having a hysterectomy. I have PCOS as well as who knows what. I am not sure what the right decision is! Please pray that we make the right decision!

progesterone shot vs tablets

I am suppose to be starting cycle #4 on clomid. According to this month's progesterone test I did not ovulate. I also did not start my cycle so my Dr. told me they can either give me an injection or a 10 day dose of progesterone tablets. Which is better/more effective? I opted for the injection and am wondering if I made the right choice. We have been trying to conceive for a long time (with a 16wk miscarriage in June). So I would like to start my next cycle of clomid ASAP.

Hello,

My ob/gyn office does IUIs. Do you have any info about IUIs that are done in an ob/gyn office and not with fertility specialist? I'm wondering if it will be as effective. They say they clean the spern too. Cost at ob/gyn is $124 vs $495 each IUI at FE. THANKS!!

Scented or Unscented wipes?

I have heard mixed things on Scented wipes. I got 3 packs of Unscented for my shower which I was just planning on using for Noah, but my cousin just got me 6packs of 78 count wipes that are Scented with Aloe and Vitamin E. Its through there business so she would have to ship them back if he didnt like them, and I dont want to be a pain and call her to tell her that.

I could just start Noah off on the Scented and see if he is ok with them and not allergic, and if he is I would have only opened 1 and she could send back the other 5, and get unscented.

I just dont know what to do? They smell good though :)

Thanks ladies, just need some opinions on what yall are using and what worked for yall with a newborn!

Femara VS. Clomid

Could Femara work if clomid didn't? Clomid didn't make me ovulate, but could Femara?

BC Before IVF

Just wondering if anyone could tell me why docs prescribe a month of BC before IVF?

Is it beneficial to do a month of BC before taking Clomid or is taking Provera to bring on AF just as beneficial?

how did this happen?

I can not express the emotions that I feel right now.

Short story about me and my DH. I am 20, he 37 and we TTC for about 1 1/2 years.

I went to RE and was told I have PCOS and a dermoid cyst. We did 2 unsuccessful IUI's. They told me to move on to IVF. The doctors office is so unprofessional and busy that I decided to get a second opinion.

So, I went to another specialist and was told I dont have PCOS and to remove the cyst (even though it is not bothering me) and then try another iui?

I dont know what to even think???

Equate Vs. Doctors Pregnancy Test

I know this may be long but bare with me!! I am 4 weeks post-partum to a baby boy. I went Thursday for my 4 weeks post-op (csection) and to have my IUD put in. I have been bleeding off and on since I had the c-section. Thursday they had to do a pregnancy test before I had the IUD put in. The doctor did two tests and they both showed up pregnant. He told me that it should not be the previous baby and to come back in two weeks. I was told I could bleed since they did something inside (pinched skin?) and indeed I did. Could that cause a misscarriage? I went to Wal-Mart and bought the Equate Pregnancy Test (The purple cap w/ the positive sign) and took on Friday afternoon and one Saturday morning. Both showed up negative. My question is, is are the doctor's tests more accurate than the HPT? Sorry this is long I'm just freaking out since I do have a 4 week old!
