Metformin Was A Bust... So Now I'm On Birth Control....?!?!?

Hey Everyone!

I was talking to Jolene on here about my journey ttc. I was put on Metformin by my new RE but I took it for a week and had to stop soo much stomach pain etc...anyhoo...I called the RE to see if I could just go straight to clomid but she said the only solution is birth control for 6mnths to get rid of the cysts. I have to go back in March for an ultrasound then wait for my AF to show up on her own and then maybe clomid?!?!

I am soo confused about this because other girls on here have had pcos and started straight to clomid! The RE said I would be wasting my money and time if I started clomid right now and unless I can handle the Metformin Birth Control is the answer!!

So frusterated girlies please share some comments?!?!?

Ultrasound

Hello,

I just have one question. Do you think that internal ultrasound at early pregnancy cause miscarriage? Bec. 3 days after I had the ultrasound the baby's heart stopped beating. Some people told me that it does. The Dr. said is about 1 %.

Bun Study/Bun Test

My husband and I are both 24 (23 at the time of conception). We have no history of downs or any other issue in either family. We decided to do the Bun Study just to do it, and when I went in today they did everything (ultrasound and drew blood), then called 10 mins after we left to tell me that the ultrasound showed it was too early to be in the study, and to come back and redo it in 2 weeks.

Is this something that can happen? And is there really any reason for us to bother doing it again? We are just thinking that we should not have attempted to do it in the first place, and are considering not doing it again in 2 weeks.

Can anyone give us any tips, advice, comments? We don't really know the statistics about two healthy 24 years olds and producing a child with downs, or any other similar disorder.

Thanks.

Should he have done a scan ?

I have a child of 15mths, I have been ttc for over a yr but since having my child 15mths onld I HAVE NOT had a period, this was due to the fact I lost allot of weight but now I have gained it back and same weight that I conceived my first child. I am SO worried I will never conceive again, I went to see the gyn he gave me norethisterone 5mg to take one tablet twice a day for five days then clomid 50mg days 2-6. I am on cd11 and being using ovulation kits but nothing, my dr did not want to do a scan to see if i ovulated because it my first cycle, but i wish he did, was he right? i feel so frustrated! not knowing if the clomid was a success, he just told me to wait 5 weeks after taking norethisterone 5mg to see if i get a period bymyself if not to go back to him!

Trying to stay strong TTC after recurrent M/C!!

So here I am 4 miscarriages later & 3 of them being in a row. This last m/c was so shocking to me! I had a good fetal heart beat that I heard & saw @ 7 & 8 weeks...(here's my u/s w/the baby I lost recently: ) but then when I went for my CVS they told me there was no heart beat & the baby measured around 8 weeks!! I had that horrible news on 8/22...I was suppose to be 12 weeks! And 8/25 I had my d&c which went horrible...had a lot of blood loss & other complications. After my d&c I had a candle vigil for him/her(here's the pic of the candle vigil : ) & also after my d&c I ended up bleeding for 19days! I did everything I could to not miscarry, I was on all kinds of meds, but I still lost the baby in the end! This has been so hard to stay strong & positive that I will get & stay pregnant...that not every BFP will end in M/C...I'm just so scared when I TTC now...that I'll never be able to have a baby w/my dh! It's a rough road on the journey to motherhood I keep praying that I'll get to hold my baby in my arms 1 day. I'm so tired of the empty arms of no baby to hold, the heartache, the cramps left right after m/c as a reminder, the feeling of being hopless because you feel like giving up TTC. Well here I am now waiting for AF after having 1 BFP on 9/24(here's a pic of that evap line bfp: ) & nothing but BFN after that so I assume it was an evap line...I'm tempted to give up, but w/the probs I have @ my age now I just know they will just get worse later when I try again when I'm older & I want my daughter to be close in age w/her future sibs. Well...I'm try so hard to belive I will have a baby w/my dh 1 day... I'll keep you all posted how things go for me & I could use some encouragement & prayers!

...I haven't been on in a while but i am 18 weeks pregnant and we had and u/s yesterday. The baby was curled up on my right hand side but the tech said its a girl and pointed out 3 white dots. Is this accurate and if so what do they represent?

I'm charting temperatures and haven't noticed ovulation, but a recent sonogram showed that I ovulated this cycle--how could this be?

I was having spotting issues earlier in the year and my GYN recommended a ultrasound. They told me that I may have small fibroids, but other than that it looked fine. I had a follow-up ultrasound yesterday and they told me that I ovulated this cycle since they were able to see the "leftover" cyst and even blood flow to it (not quite sure exactly how that works, but whatever). I'm confused because I've been charting temperatures this cycle (my first cycle doing it) and so far I can't pinpoint ovulation. By looking @ my chart, it doesn't look like I ovulated. How could this be?

http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/226ff6

Why have a 20 week ultrasound?

There is no situation in which I would terminate. I don't want to know the baby's gender before he/she is born. I had an ultrasound between 7 and 8 weeks to verify my due date. I will deliver in a university hospital so there will be plenty of specialists available should the baby need emergency care right after birth.

So is there any reason for me to have a 20 week ultrasound?

A couple of people I have talked with thought there were some problems that could be diagnosed by ultrasound and treated in utero, but no one knew anything specific.

Docs, do you know anything about that?

Thanks!

Ultrasound Please Help!

I had a transvaginal & pelvic ultrasound last week. The results are these from a report I was given. I don't have an appt. with my RE yet and was just wondering any opinions.

REPORT: The uterus is identified in an anteverted midline position. Endometrium endometrial midline echo measures 5.3mm in diameter.

The ovaries are visualized and are mildly prominent with peripherally located follicles. No abnormal adnexal masses are evident no free fluid is identified.

IMPRESSION: Prominent ovaries with peripherally placed follicles. Is there any clinical suspicion of polycystic ovary disease?

My blood tests showed evelated testosterone and low level progesterone but estradiol is normal. Thanks for the advise!

Can I stop worrying (or at least worry less) now?

I had an ultrasound today, baby measured at 7 weeks 5 days with a heart rate of 168.

Am I right in thinking that the chances of miscarrying are quite a bit less now that we have seen a heartbeat?

Internet info seems mixed on this and some places say that the odds don't really decrease until a heartbeat is seen or heard at 10 or 12 weeks. I've had two miscarriages - both before 6 weeks - in the last year so I've been really anxious and would love some reassurance that we are really on track to actually HAVE this baby.

Good News & Bad News!

Well there is news today that has us in tears.

The good news is that my sister in law who is pregnant is having a GIRL!!! YAHOO!

The bad news is that her baby who we already knew had spina bifida, hydrocephalus, and club feet...had spina bifida up to the L2 which the DR. told them that she will be in a wheelchair for life. The club feet are severe needing surgery and the hydrocephalus ventricles are needing a shunt. My sister in law is past the point of termination which they decided against. There is 1 more thing the DR. is going to do. which is amneocythisis to see if it's chromosone 18 and if it is then they will do no heroic measures and the baby probally won't live past 1yr old.

Needless to say we are again shocked by the outcome of yesterday's events.

As for me and my dh we are still investigating our infertility problems and will add this news to the list of things to discuss with the RE when we go. Prayers are welcome for our family!
