Ready For a Different type of Belly

I am ready to be a Mommy! My name is Dawn and my DH and I have been trying to conceive for about 6 months now. We are both 30 years old. I have PCOS and for most of my adult life, I have managed it with BCP. It wasn't until a friend of mine found out that she had PCOS that I started to worry about whether the BCP was really helping or hindering my fertility.

In November 2007 I went off birth control in hopes of finding out whether that was the case. I foundered around with the OPK's, Basal Temps, but it wasn't until finished college that we (hubby and I) decided strongly to try for a baby.

Now it is February and we have been trying since August without success. I ovulated in August, September, October, November, and December, than in January it ceased. I used the OPK's to track my ovulation last month and it never occurred. I am getting concerned because my cycle only seems to be lasting about 24-26 days. Usually I have a cycle that is normally 28 days.

Presently I on cycle day 16 with having used Soy Isoflavens on CD 3-7. I have been cramping and nauseous for the past 4 days and am using OPK starting on CD14 to determine Ovulation. Hopefully this works!

first mont off of bc in Jan. havent had period since. we are ttc. do you think im pregnant?

Hi, my last period was Jan 27ish. We decided to stop taking birth control. I'm not sure if i ovulated because I havent had a period since. If my cycle continued the path it was on then we had sex on the days that i would have ovulated. But, i know the first few months off of birth control pills your body may be crazy. But my last period was in Jan and i havent had one since. Do you think i could be pregnant?

Success after IUI and Laparoscopy

DH and I have been ttc for 1.5 years. I have irregular cycles so I went to an OB as soon as we started trying, and shortly after we were referred to an RE due to DH's morphology. It was 6% but everything else was very good. The RE looked at my DH's results and said that he rarely sees a number higher than that and so everything is completely fine with him. I was sent for bloodwork and HSG and everything came back normal. So, unexplained infertility...Right off the bat my RE recommended IVF. I didn't feel ready for it yet, so he agreed I could try IUI with injectables.

Our first IUI cycle was 10 months after we started ttc. I responded well to Gonal F, too well in fact. I had a lot of follicles, with only one lead one. Since there were so many follies close by I got triggered when only one was mature so that others don't catch up and risk multiples. This cycle was a BFN. My dosage was lowered for the next cycle but again only one lead took off with others trailing behind. Another BFN. At my clinic the goal is to produce 2-4 mature follies during an injectable cycle, so I was disappointed to be triggered with only one each time. I am producing one each month on my own, so it seemed like such a waste of effort and money.

For the third cycle my Dr. changed my protocol and added Lupron on CD3 and then 2 days later Gonal F. It worked like a charm. I was still producing lots of follies but this time there was a cluster of 3 that were close in size!!! Finally!! Still, the cycle didn't work. At this point I have been thinking about Laparoscopy for quite some time. My Dr. didn't think I needed it but he did give me a blood test which came back slightly elevated indicating that something was going on inside. Finally I decided to go for the Lap and then do one more IUI before moving on to IVF. The procedure showed I had no endometriosis, but I did have lots of scar tissue completely blocking my dominant ovary from my tube. Who knew! The HSG never picked that up because the tube was actually clear.

I got thumbs up from my RE after the surgery and went on to my 4th Gonal F/IUI cycle right after the Lap . Again, I had great response to Lupron/Gonal F and had a number of follies. 10 days after my IUI the HPT showed the faintest of the lines. The next morning another faint line. I couldn't believe it. I went out and bought a digital which said "YES". This is when it finally started to sink in!! I had a beta a few days later which came back nice and strong at 13DPO and another strong beta 4 days later.

Here I am 6.5 weeks pregnant, excited and scared at the same time. I have received so much support on this site through the past year, it helped me answer so many questions and kept me sane at times through this long ttc process. I hope to share my journey with many others and wish everyone success.

What should a healthy AF look like?

Maybe this is a really gross questions, but for the last couple months, my AF has been more "thicker" that before. Full of a lot of tiny clots and what looks like lining, than acutally blood. I still about the same heaviness, and lasts 6-7 days. Could this be affecting my TTC?

I started my cycle on the 27 of Feb and stopped flowing on the 2nd of March. Im still spotting 5 days after AF stopped. I started spotting 8 days before AF started. Is this something to be concerned with? Could this cause problems ttc?

hi doc Q and ladies!!

i posted this question yesterday but the site will not open my question for some reason.

im just curious as to low B12 affecting fertility? im in australia and was told by the nurse my level was 30, so just below the normal level! the thing is everything i have found on the net says normal levels are between 200 and 900.

im nervous as i know B12 has a lot to do with cell devision and if i get preg i dont want things to go wrong.

Low B12 and fertility

Hi doc Q and ladies!!!

just a quick question. i have just found out i have low B 12, hence the fatigue, hair loss bruising, etc but my question is how will this affect my fertility!

i have Pcos and an underactive thyroid and from what i gather low B12 is quite common with these other disorders!

i finished breastfeeding not long ago and i think i have just ovulated for the first time and we activley ttc. if i did in fact conceive can this harm cell devision as B12 plays such a strong part in this??

im just a bit scared is all. i see the doctor on monday to discuss my options.

thanx

TTC#1 & bfn's...Does anyone feel scared too?

Sometimes I'm not sure how I survive the TTC journey each time AF shows up. I cry my eyes out & I just don't even feel like going to work or doing anything. I've been TTC #1 for almost a year now. I know I'm not supposed to get frustrated or stressed out as its not going to help, but how do you deal with the pain & disappointment?

In the meantime, friends & relatives around me seem to be getting preggos so easily and it's making me SO depressed! I'll be going for my first IUI this cycle. I'll be having a first scan tomorrow to see which will be the day. I'm hoping & praying for a good month this time.

I'd really like to hear if anyone else is feeling this way too. It'll be wonderful to talk to someone who knows how this whole thing feels so that we can share experiences together!!

Can you still get pregnant if you hardly ever get your period?

I have my period every 5-6 months, sometimes its less but most of the time it can sometimes be more than that. How can you get pregnant if you dont really get many periods? and i dont know how to tell if im ovulating? I want to conceive but i heard the only way to get regular peroids is to take the contraception pill and i dont want that. I dont know very much about PCOS, i only found out i got it today but the doctors dont seem to be helping me very much, i want some treatment so i can put my mind at rest but all they gave me was the pill and told me they would give me it when needed. Im scared that if i leave it too late my infertility will get worse! I dont have achne and im not over weight, its just my fertility im worried about and i would just really like to know if i have the chance at least.

my DH just doesn't get it.

well you ladies are one of my only two outlets left to talk about this kind of stuff. my DH doesn't want to hear about pregnancy or infertility anymore. i think he's just burnt out on nothing happening, which i can't blame him ...but he's supposed to walk with me side by side through this and yet again i'm being left out in the cold by myself ...this happened last year when i was doing treatment and it's part of the reason i got totally burned out and stopped. i really want to just cry right now. i don't mean to bad mouth him, but i genuinely feel i have an unsupportive DH ...

does anyone else have a DH who just doesn't listen or isn't there the way you need them to be ...?
