Metformin Was A Bust... So Now I'm On Birth Control....?!?!?

Hey Everyone!

I was talking to Jolene on here about my journey ttc. I was put on Metformin by my new RE but I took it for a week and had to stop soo much stomach pain etc...anyhoo...I called the RE to see if I could just go straight to clomid but she said the only solution is birth control for 6mnths to get rid of the cysts. I have to go back in March for an ultrasound then wait for my AF to show up on her own and then maybe clomid?!?!

I am soo confused about this because other girls on here have had pcos and started straight to clomid! The RE said I would be wasting my money and time if I started clomid right now and unless I can handle the Metformin Birth Control is the answer!!

So frusterated girlies please share some comments?!?!?

81mg Aspirin & Pregnancy

Hey ladies. I've decided on my own, which I probably should ask my doctor, to start taking an 81mg Aspirin every day. I am TTC again after my miscarriage... and I truly feel this will benefit me.

I've read that Aspirin can cause placenta abruption... but I've also read that it can really help with those who have high blood pressure. Which is me. And it says that some doctors will outweigh the placenta abruption risk with the high blood pressure being more of a risk.

I've read a few stories where women have had multiple miscarriages and then take the Aspirin and go on to havae successful pregnancies.

Any body else tried this? Am I wrong to do this on my own?

Getting Pregnant

I found out in January that I have HPV. The year before I went and my pap test was normal, so I'm assuming I just got it. Me and my fiance though have been trying for about 2 years now honestly. We didn't really pay attention to ovulation days and all that until about 3 months ago. I just don't know if because I have HPV it's causing me to not be able to get pregnant because my doctor told me I should be able to. I'm not sure what the problem is, and I know he can have children because he already has one. So can you help me?

HCG Back to 0

I never thought I would be so excited to see a pregnancy test say NOT PREGNANT... but I took one today and my levels are finally back to 0 after my miscarriage 9.13 - meaning I will soon be able to try again.

I am hoping I ovulate within the next couple weeks. We aren't going to count anything, etc... just BD like normal. If it happens it happens... if not then next month I will use OPK's once I get an AF to count from. I can't believe I am back at the beginning again... I didn't think I'd be here for a long time, but life had other plans.

Semen Analysis

I AM MARRIED FROM LAST 2 YEARS BUT MY WIFE COULDN'T CONCEIVED. I DID MY SEMEN ANALYSIS WITH ACTIVE MOTILE 35% AND SPERM CONCENTRATION 32.54MILLIONS/ML. WE MET A DR HERE. SHE ADVISED ME TAKE UBIPHENE(CLOMIFENE UBIDECARENONE) FOR 3 MONTHS. MY WIFE IS HAVING A NORMAL MONTHLY CYCLE OF 26-27DAYS. PLEASE SUGGEST ME THAT UBIPHENE WILL WORK TO IMPROVE MY SEMEN ANALYSIS AND MY WIFE CONCEIVE OR NOT???

Lean PCOS, TTC, Nothing is Working!!!!

I have lean PCOS. My weight is perfect for my height. I don't ovulate on my own. I took Clomid at 50mg for 3months and didn't get pregnant. I've had an HSG, pelvic ultrasound, hysteroscopy, and laparoscopy. All my reproductive organs look great. My ovaries are only slightly enlarged, but no major cysts. My tubes are open. No other physical problems. My husband has no issue with his sperm. Why am I not pregnant yet? It's been 15 months! What else can I try besides IUI and IVF?

What could possibly be wrong with me?

Hubby and I have been trying to conceive for exactly 2 yrs this month.

Jan this year we approached a RE and we got our tests done.

HSG was fine. Hubby's semen analysis was normal. Day 3 test which indicates ovarian reserve was fine.

I however was diagnosed with hypothyroid and am still under medication and it is still not under control.

My RE checked if I ovulate by conducting blood tests before and after I tested positive on my OPK and confirmed that I do ovulate.

2 months back my doc checked my cervical fluid for candida and it did come out positive. She gave me a vaginal cream for the same.

I'm due for my periods tomorrow and I know that it didnt happen for me this cycle.

Next cycle, am planning to get an IUI done.

Ok...now my question is, if almost everyone of my tests seemed to look ok...why am I not conceiving?

And, is IUI gonna help me at all?

NO CARBONATION? IS HE KIDDING?!!?

I went to see Blair Lewis last night, he is a PA as well as a homoeopathy guy and very cool I might add.

I went for 3 reasons, 1 to help me to get off the lexapro and be “normal” again as well as helping with infertility, which he specializes in. He said that 90% of the infertility people he sees are in fact helped by the homoeopathy stuff. And to help my son with ADHD and/or turrets.

Anyway, it was very very interesting while we were taking. He asked a bunch of questions, some very strange like what foods I crave and how I am when I am angry. At the end he found a “remedy” that he feels will help me. I forget what its called but when I get it later this week (in the mail) I will letcha know. He said that what I will be taking is something that lawyer ladies with infertility have. Stressful and driven people I guess.

He also found something for my son - he will be taking “fosforsus” except I cant spell it so it’s the mineral that sounds like what I typed! LOL!

The thing that he read about the people who take this sounds like it was written for my son, down to bites finger and toenails, hates orange juice, sudden nose bleeds and bruises easily. It was truly amazing as I listened to him read everything about my son. I am so hoping this will help. Eventually he will take nothing so thats cool too.

He told me that coffee was bad for this, which I thought I knew, but it isnt the caffeine - it’s the actual coffee bean that cancels out the “remedy” that you take... alright, I can cut the coffee I only have 1 cup a day anyway.... then he throws the BOMB at me! NO, I mean, NO carbonation!! WHAT?!!?!?! No more Diet Mt Dew???? He said that the carbonation messes with the CM.... thats one I had not heard b4. I asked what the heck im spose to drink then, lol.

I said “can I NEVER have a soda then” and he says “well, alright, on the kids 2nd bday you can treat yourself” lol, he is a smart and funny guy. :)

Im gonna drink myself silly till I get my remedy in about 5 days then cutting it off..... OMG, this is gonna be harder than stopping smoking!!!

Bear with me ladies, its gonna be rough!!!

If It Sounds To Good To Be True....

Well last Thursday I went to the RE for the 1st time with my husband after waiting a yr. of ttc...I was told I have PCOS which I already was pretty sure I knew from the tests I had done before the appt. Was told that Metformin would do the trick and I would be pregnant in no time...well a week of metformin has come and gone and I have stopped taking it because my intestines felt like they were going to fall out of me..(I know To Much Info.) but I also had really bad pain in my abdomen like a burning pain with it. Well after I stopped last night my husband was apparently relieved that I stopped it and informed me he doesn't want to get pregnant right now because the economy is in the toilet...so I think thanks for springing this on me now after we have been trying for awhile and I thought we were on the same page! So today I am an emotional mess...I took yesterday and the day before off work from the pain of metformin at work today but wish I could just hide under a blanket...I know that's not a solution but I can't help to think that this whole time he was just looking for a reason to finally admit what he had been thinking all along! The phrase comes to mind if it sounds to good to be true it probally is....hmm...

How did this happen.....

Well, bringing back some memories of my first pregnancy. I always have irregular periods or none at all. It was june 14, 2004 that I had my period, finally after almost a year of none. I took a preggo test July 17th 2004 and It was NEG...In sept I started to feel sick and was sick of the the smell of food but ignore it until I start to have leakage in my breast around the end of Nov 04. I test the 1st week of Dec and it was POSitive!! That time I was 16 weeks. How did I get pregnant that far apart and where waas my period in between. And when did you think I ovulate so I can figure out for now.

BUT..I lost her at 20week and 1 day of incompent cervix..

Dr. Q or anyone

I am 4DPO and have been cramping all day. I am used to it on the right side, because I have a pretty large cyst on that ovary. However, im been cramping on BOTH sides, and don't have a left ovary, so I am confused as to what is causing this. I did my first round of clomid this month on cd3-7.I have also been on metformin for almost two months. I am now on CD20 and cramping. Any thoughts, should I call ob and ask?

What would be the fertility treatment for a person with one tube?

Iam 26. And my periods are pretty regular. Between 25 and 29 days. TTC for a year. Husband's semen analysis came out great. All my hormone levels are good too. But my HSG shows only one tube open and the other is closed at distal end. Iam visiting a RE this month. Iam confused about what my treatment would be ? Would I be be prescribed Clomid ? with IUI ? My OB/GYN is like, we have to try longer. But I don't see it working. . I need help. Would clomid work with one tube ? What could have caused one of my tubes to be closed ?

Our TTC Journey - Beginning 2002

Hello Everyone... I am currently 27yrs old and found this fertlityties.com website only 2 days ago... Loveing every minute of it, I have become addicted to all the postings and updates... So I decided to today I would begin posting a my own family journey and update as things progress along. Thank you to everyone for your support and words of encouragments... it's amazing I've been ttc for over 6yrs now and just came upon a site like this that offers soo much support for families such as mine.

To being, I had my first son when I was 18 just finishing high school... I was in a rough relationship and chose to get out after hearing I had been cheated on. The one friend that my ex-husband and I had since high school - the only male friend I had been allowed to remain friends with - had visited town prior to his deployment to Korea for the Army... he and I continued to speak long distance while he was in Korea and grew very close - he came home for a funeral and things were def differnt for the two of us - friendship had taken on a new level. He finally returned in 2002 from Korea and we took a few trips out of town together before deciding to move in together. He was very ready for marriage, I was a bit hesitant due to my past relationship - he was very accepting of my son, of which he'd known since was 2 days old. We decided only a few months later to get married and right away my son being more than 3 years old we were ready to try for our own children. November of 2003 we had our first miscarriage and from there began to wonder about things, prior to this miscarriage we had seen a doc for infertility - we had the inital tests ran and and HSG which was completely normal we were told we needed to do a few things differently and give it more time. We had the ectopic miscarriage, got down and depressed but remained on track for trying. DH deployed to Iraq in early 2004 for a year deployment, which put everything on hold. Thought we might get prego on his R&R, nope. He came home in spring of 2005 - to our surprise he'd been living with severe pain during the entire deployment, the medics told him it was muscle spasms - he returned home to finally have an MRI completed and found out he had a spinal tumor in the (forgive my spelling) theical sack *were all the nerves meet in the spine*

He was told this could be removed and we were warned to freeze sperm because of possible complications that could occur, we did not because of the $$$ money being an issue - how sad. Surgery went well, doc said it was "BADLUCK" that caused it and that it COULD one day come back. Just another set back in our attempts :-)

We began our journey further with the IVF clinic in San Antonio - thru the military program. There is a two year wait for IVF and they will only allow you to be put on that list after you have gone thru many failed attempts at all courses of medications - we went thru it all, another HSG that was showing right tube blocked this time in Dec 05 - Surgery to unblock tube in March 06 (which they decided not to unblock). Miscarriage number 2 two weeks after the surgery attempt. Again very discouraged. October 06 my DH deployed again for one year to Iraq. Feb we rec'd orders he would be extended to 15 month deployment. All in all we had made the effort to save and freeze sperm prior to this deployment, this allowing for me to continue IUI treatments during his deployment. Yeah right? No,my right ovary is alway the one producing the largest follicles and most eggs. IUI attempts 3 - how many tiems did I go thru the process and told we would try again next month.. prob 10 times. No Hope right? I had gotten pretty frustrated and one of the cos finally said hey I'm recommending you for the IVF list. So around July 07 we were put on the list. My husband came home from Iraq for R&R August 07 - came down with BellsPalsy - got to stay home. Yeah! Get back to treatments? No he was frustraged! So time passes - we got a call in April the IVF clinic had people cancel out and unable for their spouses to attend - they have openings for their August IVF cycle. They run 3 cycles a year, Jan, April and August. 65 couples in each. 50% success rates. Military Dicounted Co-Pay = $3800 for August cycle going up to $4500 in Jan. Yeah - we had from April to June 1st to save the money. My DH being very discouraged was a bit against saving for this risky and expensive process, I made it happen!! We began our BCP July 15th Stopped BCP August 31st. Had 21 follicles - grew up to 23 in size - retrieval was 15th Sept and Transfered 2 (graded 8A & 8B) back on the 18th of Sept. Had first BFP yesterday with hcg level of 327. Go tomorrow for 2nd blood test.

Long Story short, I am not telling my son anything yet - we didn't tell him about miscarriage #2 - because we'd made the mistake of telling him about #1 and had to explain it all. He's almost 10 now... but he knows about us visiting docs attempting for pregnancy but doesn't know results yet. waiting til 8wks or more to tell :-) to be a bit more safe. I want to see u/s first.

So I'll update as things progress... Thanks for listening.

**NEOne know how to post pics in these things? Photobucket get a code? I'll begin belly pics in a few weeks if all goes according to plan.

I am 32

DH - 34

Tootsie - My black Lab - 6

TTC since 2006. 1 cycle with clomid, eventually it didn't work and it really started making my periods prolonged. almost 10 to 11 months in 2006, I had periods that were more than 20 days spotting, which really would leave me around 10 to 15 days where i can go without pad (I am sorry for the language)

I moved to states from my hometown Leeds, Engalnd and I was taking thyroid medicines since I was 19.

My periods started reducing the number of days and it is like only the past 6 months I am having regular period for 5-7 days after almost 18 months (Thank you lord)

I now live in US of A and went through series of test to see tubes are open, SA etc.. etc..

Since I have PCOS and my DH has 52 % motality my OB-GYN suggested RE.

RE wanted to start me on clomid and with my previous experience I told him a big no and opted for Injectables.

Started my Cycle #1in August 2008 and it was a heart breaker.

RE wanted me to take a break, but we thought we waited long already and wanted to continue immediatly.

RE started my Cycle #2 with increased dosage of Gonal - F. To all our astonishment, my ovaries are hypher simulated and my IUI was scheduled on CD 10.

On Sep 30, went in for progesterone BW and the numbers are 16. RE wants me to use the Crione 8% cream once every morning.

Hoping I am almost there girls... Wish me Baby luck and lots and lots of baby dust to you all

It is nice to have found this website cause sometimes, not everyone can understand what we are going through...

Should he have done a scan ?

I have a child of 15mths, I have been ttc for over a yr but since having my child 15mths onld I HAVE NOT had a period, this was due to the fact I lost allot of weight but now I have gained it back and same weight that I conceived my first child. I am SO worried I will never conceive again, I went to see the gyn he gave me norethisterone 5mg to take one tablet twice a day for five days then clomid 50mg days 2-6. I am on cd11 and being using ovulation kits but nothing, my dr did not want to do a scan to see if i ovulated because it my first cycle, but i wish he did, was he right? i feel so frustrated! not knowing if the clomid was a success, he just told me to wait 5 weeks after taking norethisterone 5mg to see if i get a period bymyself if not to go back to him!

cramps

Hiya, I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. Myself and my husband are TTc. I ovulated 20th-21st sept but from 21st have had mild pulling sharp cramps on and off like premenstrual cramps but tolerable. On the 28th they are more often but arent as sharp. Is this anything to be worried about? I have other symptoms but am now worried I might be looking into them too much

hydrosalpinx

DR.Q

If i have hydrosalpinx on my right fallopian tube ( dilated fallopian tube ) and my OB preformed an HSG and said i still have great spillage on both sides of my fallopian tubes. He doesn't think that can keep me from getting pregnant. so is it possible to still get pregnant with this?

My OB said my dilated tube is a distal dilatation. only on my right fallopian tube and it is still open.
