What test did he run on me? Obgyn took a q-tip to swab me.

I went to my new OB yesterday and he did someking of micro somthing or another test on me. It wasn't to check for antibodies that could be killing my DH's sperm but something close. He took a q-tip thing and swabed me. What was this test and what is it used for?

Taking Clomid when you're not ovulating.

I have been ttc for over 2 years now, in Oct of 2009 my Dr sent me for testing all tests came back fine except I was not ovulating. She then prescribed me clomid 50mg days 5-9 and is having me go for blood testing on day 21 of my cycle.

My question is should my doctor be doing any other tests or exams or is she on the right track.

Thank you so much for taking time to answer my questions.

FDA or CDC guidelines for HIV & Hep testing

Maybe someone on here can help me out. I'm tired of looking.

I am trying to find the FDA or CDC guidelines for HIV & Hep testing when doing IVF. I thought it was required every 6 months since embryos share an incubator with other folks embryos. An RE I'm considering requires it only yearly.

I have found the guidelines (May 2005) for using a donor. They need to be tested 7 days prior to egg retrieval and 3 months after donation. Fine by me. I'm not concerned with mine and DH results, but I'm concerned with the other people we'll share an incubator with.

Is it normal for OPKs to go almost + and back to just control line over a couple days?

I started OPK on CD9 after taking first round of clomid CD3 to 7. I O on my own but my doctor was trying to "strengthen" my O and give more targets. I usually start getting +opks on CD11 or 12, and usually O on my own CD12 or 13. I also know clomid can make your cycles longer.

On CD9 my OPK was stark white with only a control line, so BFN.

CD10 I started getting watery CM so I decided to OPK in the AM just to see (around 9 AM) got a definate test line but was still not as dark as the control line, so BFN. Decided to test again on CD10 in the PM and got a stark white, with just a control line again.

CD11 still watery CM so I tested in AM (around 9 AM) again, got a definate test line but still not as dark as control line so BFN. Tested again in the PM and it was once again back to stark white with just the control line.

I am on CD12 today and having O pains on my left side. I still have watery CM as well. Cervix has been high and soft for 3 days now and still not a +opk...or even a day where the opks are staying the same.

What is going on? Is this normal? I have never had a problem reading and OPK nor has this ever happened. Just wondering if you can explain it.

Thanks for you time.

How often should I use OPK?? Just once a day? 2? This is my first time...

So I just received my OPK today and my chart says I can start testing. I just took one and it was negative. I have seen that some women take 2 sometimes 3 or more a day with different results. I have never used these before and am wondering if I should just wait til tomorrow or try again maybe later this evening?

What is the best way? THANKS EVERYONE!! :)

Ashley

miscarriage twice in a row

Hi,

I have suffered 2 miscarriages in the last 6 months.

Has this happened to anyone before then, gone on to have a normal pregnancy? Also what testing do they do when you do miscarry twice in a row? Can your OB do all or some of the testing or do you have to go to an RE? My first pregnancy was on 100 mg clomid, i lost the baby at 10 weeks. (The doc didnt detect a hearbeat). This pregnancy was no meds.

Ureaplasma culture test

We were tested for this 2 years ago when starting with RE and DH tested + so he took antibotics. I tested negative.

In your practice, do you treat both parties with the meds or just the person who tests + for the infection? Also, do you have them re-take the test 2 weeks later to make sure the infection is gone or just assume that it is gone and move forward with treatments.

What is your thought on how this effects fertility and m/c rates? if 70% of the population (foudn that on the net, lol) has this then how can it really cause issues with fertility?

thx for your input :)

To afraid to test....

Usually, I am a POAS addict, however, I am getting really tired of seeing BFNs. I am currently 13 dpo and experiencing a ton of early pregnancy symptoms- fatigue, nausea, aversions...

This was my first month with regulated TSH levels and on clomid. I am also on progesterone and know very well my symptoms can be the result of my medications. But part of me wonders, could this finally be the cycle after 14 months of ttc? I am too afraid to test and want to hold on to the possibility...just a little longer.

Will OPK show LH a few days before AF?

I did a medicated IUI exactly 5 weeks ago, and had a spare HPT that I used as I was feeling flutters and twinges inside. So, the generic brand I used actually showed a very, very faint line. Then I bought a First Response which appears neg, and accidentally bought an OPK (thought it was a pregnancy test) and after I used one, I then realized it wasn't a pregnancy test as a light blue line showed up right away.

I *should* be starting AF on the 10th or so...but what made me test was that my nipples were tingling a bit which isn't like my usual PMS. Anyway, this is all a bunch of speculation and getting a blood test would resolve everything. Main question is:

Is it normal to see LH a few days before scheduled AF?

I could have left over cysts, too, and that's why I feel the twinges inside from time to time.

Any of you ladies out there have something similar?

Update in my testing for cervical cancer and TTC

My colposcoy/biopsy confirmed i Do not have the cancer, only cellular changes. :) Still i have to get a pap every 6 months to make sure it doesnt turn into cancer. My ultrasound the nurse told me everything looked normal and then she said i do have a cloud of fluid in my right side, not sure if ovary or tube. But i was thinking, how's that normal then? she said its either a cyst that burst or endo. :( I hope it was a cyst, but endo makes more sense because the fluid is in the same side as my tubal Pregnancy was. The 25th i go back to discuss fertility meds. I was supposed to discuss them last month during my biopsy but there was a miscommunication, my ultrasound was suppose to be done when i got my bloodwork back in Dec. and somehow the health center i went to missed it! Grrrr..so now my wait is pushed bck even longer. :( And i STILL dont have our own computer so im at my parents house again...hoiping soon to get this laptop! Hope evey1 is doing well and Congrats to all the new mommy to be's...and to us ladies till waiting for our BFP's..Our time will come..all the more of a blessing it will be! :)

How long should you wait to have another HSG?

1. I am wanting to know if there is a certain time frame that is needed to wait to have more then one HSG done?

2. Also.... is it normal to have another HSG if the results of the first HSG came back normal?

I had my HSG done in May08. The results were normal and the tubes are open and working but I havent gotten pregnant yet and its been 16 months so Im thinking maybe my tubes have some blockage.

What fertility testing is needed when trying to conceive?

Hello

My husband I had been TTC for one year in October 2008. In October I went to my OB/GYN to start infertility testing. We did a semen analysis on my husband that came out fine. They did a vaginal ultrasound on me, everything looked fine. We did day21 progesterone bloodwork also which was a little low. They then put me on Clomid and Metformin. This is my 4 th month on the Clomid and Metformin. Clomid is 100mg and Metformin is 850mg twice a day. I do ovulation predictor tests and I do get a positive every month. Since taking the Clomid I have developed some cysts that do seem to go away on their own. So basically I am taking the Clomid and Metformin every month, going in for a ultrasound every month and doing progesterone bloodwork. My progesterone seems to be a little low each time. It has been in month order: 5,8,10,14. So, this if my 4th month on the meds. I was wondering if I need to move on to more aggressive testing or what exactly I need to do. I havn't had an HSG yet and I am wondering if I should bring that up to my doctor. I just don't want her to feel like I am telling her what to do. I am just so ready to a mom and I feel like there are other things I could have been doing or testing besides the meds month after month. Thanks :)
