Gestational Diabetes test...

My ob called and said my blood was ok, but the other part was abnormal so they are sending me for the 3 hour test tomorrow..

What exactly do they look for in this test (both the 1 hr and the 3 hour)?

I just cant stop crying over this, since the ob feels I am more at a risk for having it since diabetes is common in my family and even in my dh's.

dear dr's, i am 36weeks and 3 days pregnant. i was told by dr office today that i am having high blood sugar.(they did a second GTT). so i am considered having gestational diabetes and need to see dietician.(on my first 28 week GTT, only one reading was elevated).

is this too late to start with dietition? what can they possibly say? does this have any bad impacts on the baby? what are my options now? i am totally unprepared to deal with anything towards the end. i am really worried and scared.

and i am not able get hold of my dr to ask them what is going on with me and what next for me? they just left a message asking me contact dietician soon. how bad the situation is?please help.

blood sugar issues early in pregnancy

i never experienced this with my first pregnancy, so im at a loss.

i am almost 16 weeks along and it seems an hour or so after i eat, my blood sugar is REALLy low. i have never "craved" for sugar before. but i feel like i need something or i am getting sweaty, fatigued, etc. i am nervous about gestational diabetes? could this be a concern? i have an appointment with my OB in a week - but thought some of you smart cookies may know!

Signs of sugar in urine.

I recently visited my Gino, she told me that there's been a trace of sugar in my urine. I've done a Glucose blood test, still waiting for the results. Will this mean i will be diabetic for the rest of my live or is it just during pregnancy? I'm 6 months along. I'm worried about it.

Sweet and Low sugar

I have seen on the internet that drinking alot of the sweet and low sugar in the pink pack is bad for a pregnant woman. Is this true? Can a pregnant woman not drink any type of artificial sugar?

Sugar in Urine but not in blood?

What causes this? Is one truly diabetic if there is sugar excreted in the urine, but the 1 hr test is normal (99)?

Also, I do know that the fasting levels are not accurate and that u need to get a 2 or 3 hr GTT. If I had a 3 hr Glucose Tol reading of 85 3 days before BFP and ever since urine has sugar am I diabetic?

Question on sugar present in fruits

I am really watching my sugar intake coz of recurring YI and potential Gestational Diabetes. I would like to know if taking any of the below 3/day will increase the sugar content in my body. Ive been warned that more sugar content can flare up or cause YI to come back again.

1. Two Clementines/Tangerines

2. One apple

3. a handfull of Rasins

4. Pomegrannate

5. 3-4 Plums

Are sugars present in fruits as bad as taking free processed sugar?

Could this indicate gestational diabetes or maybe something else?

The past three days, I am experiencing something strange. Between 30-90 minutes after I eat, I start feeling really hot, then I start getting nauseas, then dizziness and a slight headache, and I feel like I must put my head down or lay down or I'm going to pass out. The only time I've felt something similar is (pre-pregnancy) times when I went more than 12 hours without eating, and my blood sugar was obviously low.

I've been watching it, and it appears to happen more quickly when I have soda, or more carbs than protein in a meal. I just had it happen again.. and I decided to drink a cup of OJ to see if I started to feel better by raising my sugar quickly.

I don't feel completely better (I drank it five minutes or so ago) but it did seem to halt the process. I am cooling down and am no longer nauseas or dizzy.. just a slight ache in my head.

Does this sound like anything in particular? It really seems like my blood sugar is dropping to me.. but I'm no doctor, and so far all of my urine tests have been normal as far as sugar goes.

Glucose Tolerence and Quad Screen on same day

Dr Q I have to get both these tests done in the 16th week and I scheduled it at the same time on 12/6. I have to have the 'Drink' at 10.45 AM. Quad screen blood drawn at 11.30 AM and then for diabetes at 11.45 AM. My question here would be :

1. Do I have to fast 8 hrs to get the blood drawn initially for Diabetes test then Drink and then retest in 1 hr? Or is it just the blood after the drink that counts? This is what Ive done before for GLucose tolerance Test. Is it different during pregnancy???

2. If I have that much glucose before drawing blood for Quad screen, will it affect the Quad screen results? Im more concerned here coz I dont want this to influence a false positive of any sort.

3. SHould I just do the Glucose test another day to avoid confusion?

Thanks a lot!
