Low Progesterone TTC Husband Has Type 1 Diabetes

I am 26 years old hubby is 28. We have been married 6 years and going strong! TTC for 1.5 years with no success..Have a RE appt. scheduled for Sept 18th. Pretty sure the Dr. will recommend Prometrium and Clomid by the similiar stories I've read..Ordered Fertility Aid Supplements for him and I hoping that is what will help boost the hormones to normal levels!

Just got BFP today!!!

I just got my BFP today! My doctor wanted to start me on Prometrium. I went to pick up the prescription and there are no directions. It just says to insert into vagina once a day. Well, now I have so many questions, and my doctor's office is closed for today and my pharmacist wasn't sure what to tell me either. So here are my questions: How far up do I insert the pill? Do I need to sit right after inserting it, or can I go about my normal day? How long do I need to wait before going to the bathroom? Any other advice about this medicine would be great! Thanks!

Low Progesterone

My husband and I have just started Fertility Aid supplements before going to clomid etc...I have heard good reviews from Fertility Aid to bring back regular hormone levels and in turn getting pregnant. Question is should I become pregnant while taking Fertility Aid will it of changed my natural hormonal balance enough to not need Prometrium suppositories for the 1st 12 weeks? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

I just started my Prometrium and of course on the 3rd of my bleeding I will start my clomid. I've used an ovulation kit and i've never charted my basal temp. When do I start all of this? When I do start it, is that counted day 1 of your cycle. I'm so confussed can someone please help me and explain to me how all of this works? I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much!!

DR: Just diagnosed with PCOS. Please Help!

Background: In March, I started taking Prometrium (100mg CD1-14 and 200mg CD 15-30)for very low Progesterone levels.

I have not ovulated in at least 6 months & also have hypo-thyroidism which is currently under control.

2 weeks ago (before we knew I had PCOS) Doc told me to only take the Prometrium 200mg CD 14-30 and told me that taking it throughout the cycle can act as birth control and prevent ovulation.

I was just diagnosed with PCOS last week. Had an ultrasound and bloodwork done. My doctor put me on Metformin (500mg twice a day) and put me back on Prometrium throughout the whole cycle (200mg a day)

I'm confused though, if I'm TTC, and Promestrium prevents O, why am I on it throughout? She said it would shrink the cysts.

I thought maybe she was doing this for now and would soon switch me back to the half the cycle dose. But, I've been on the Prometrium since March so if it didn't the shrink the cysts then, why would it now?

Please help, any advice is greatly appreciated as I am new to this and really confused!

THANKS!

Prometrium & Clomid

Hi I'm starting Prometrium 200mg tonight then I will start my Clomid 50mg when I am directed on the 3rd day of my cycle. I was just wondering if anyone else is on these medications now and if so, how is doing for you and how is making you feel. Also, to the ones that have already used it, did it work? how long did it take to get pregnant? How did it make you feel? Thanks so much for all answers a head of time! Good Bless!

Is prometrium REALLY necessary?

Hi ladies,

My RE prescribed it for me 2x daily, inserted vaginally. He said it wasn't required, but can help prevent miscarriages. But since I don't have any luteal phase problems or uterine issues, etc., is it *really* necessary?

I've read that it has some annoying side effects, which I'd rather avoid.

If not's going to help me with fertilization, then it doesn't seem worth it to me, as our problem is getting enough quality sperm to meet my egg (to be blunt!).

What's your experience with it?

Thanks,

Christine

Progesterone Supplmentation and Implantation

On an earlier question Dr. Eva said that progesterone supplements should be started around 3 dpo to help correct an LPD.

Hi Dr. A friend is using prometrium inserts 2x a day. A nurse mentioned something about poking a hole in the insert. When she does this it kinda breaks apart and gets messy. What is your recommendation on using the inserts? THANKS!!

Prometrium 11 weeks into pregnancy?

Hi!

I am 11 weeks pregnant today. I went in to the doctor this past Thursday (10 weeks 5 days) because I had a cramping feeling in my lower back and I was afraid this pregnancy was turning into a miscarriage like last time. Anyways- the ultrasound was WONDERFUL. THe little one definitely looks like a baby now! and WOW! was he or she HYPER! it was funny seeing the baby moving around so much! anyways-the doctor said everything looked great but she wanted to order a UA and a progesterone test. THe UA came back fine- no UTI or anything- but my progesterone level came back a little lower than last time. I wasn't told what my level dropped to- but the nurse said it was still in the "okay" level but they wanted me on Prometrium just to make sure it does not drop anymore. My questions are- is it okay for progesterone levels to drop? I was also under the understanding that at 12 weeks the placenta takes over. The RE wants me to take the Prometruim 200 mg 1x day (at bedtime) vaginally for the next 15 days (that is when I will see a regular OB doctor.) Is it strange that my doctor would prescribe this medicine 11 weeks into a pregnancy? Also, is there a possiblility that a person would need prometrium throughout their ENTIRE pregnancy if they are low on progesterone levels? or are the progesterone levels only important in the first 12 weeks?

Thank you!

Want baby number 4, help!

I have PCOS. I had to take clomid, prometrium, and metformin to get pregnant with each of my three kids. I never could ovulate on clomid unless I was under 133 lbs (I'm 5'5 1/2). It would not work even if I was 138 lbs which I tried twice with baby #2. I no longer have fertility insurance. I want to know exactly what meds I should take to induce menstration, ovulate, and be able to carry a baby full term. BTW, my three kids were all full term and I have never had a miscarrage. Please help me! I need medication names and dosage info.

Clomid and Late Ovulation

Hello. I am seeking my doctor's opinion, but would like yours as well. Please see my questions below and the responses I've received so far. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

1. I have done two rounds of Clomid on CD3-CD7. The first round was 50mg and the second was 100mg. If I am not pregnant, what dosage should I take for my 3rd round and should I continue taking it CD3-CD7?

ANSWER: Move to 150mg and take CD5-CD9 due to the late ovulation and long cycles.

** ADDITIONAL QUESTION FOR RESPONSE:

1a. By moving to CD5-CD9 while increasing the dosage of Clomid to 150mg should ovulation occur sooner or later? (awaiting response)

2. . Is there a certain OPK test that is more accurate than others I should use? I tend to have to go though more than one box due to my late ovulation which is expensive so a cheap and accurate test would be preferred. I have found online (http://www.saveontests.com/Ovulation.htm) cheap ovulation tests and test strips which measure 25mIU/mL with 99.8% accuracy. Would you recommend trying these and do the test strips work as well as the actual mid-stream test? (Note: I have tried First Response, Clear Blue Digital and Answer. The positives I have received have all been from the Answer OPK.) (awaiting response)

3. Has anyone used the ovwatch (www.ovwatch.com)? If you have, was it successful for you?

I took it yesterday afternoon and the spotting stopped which is great, but I always read about the pills Im taking. Everything I am ready says do not take while pregnant..??? Why is that? And why did my doc put me on it?
