Does PCOS ovaries tend to have hypoechronic rings around them? Why/Why not?

Hi, everyone. I am trying to narrow down possible dx. for what is causing my symptoms and thus exactly what doctor speciality I would see (endo, PCOS, EP out of tubes, etc.). I will be paying completely out of pocket for any and all medical expenses.

Q: Does PCOS cause hypoechronic rings around one's ovaries? Why/Why not?

Thanks,

mom2

What all can cause hypoechronic (sp) ring(s) around one's ovaries?

What all can cause hypoechronic (sp) ring(s) around one's ovaries? I understand that it is normal for one to have those rings around one's ovaries with an EP, but is that correct?

Can those rings by misdiagonised by an old ultrasound machine (before video recording)?

Thanks in Advance.

Chinese herbs while taking bc pills for IVF?

Dear Doctor-

I just made my first appointment with an acupuncturist. I will be having my first IVF soon. Birth control pills will be part of my IVF protocol to "suppress" my ovaries. In doing research about acupuncture, I read that Chinese herbs "stimulate" the ovaries. Isn't this counter-productive to what the birth control pills are trying to achieve? I am confused! Please explain and advise.

Thank you so much! Rebecca

How can i have PCOS if I have normal-looking ovaries?

When I went in for an ultrasound a few weeks ago to see if i had any cysts forming from my clomid, my Dr. told me that not only did I not have any large cysts ready to rupture (I'd been having bad cramping) but that my ovaries looked "really good." He said he couldn't see any cysts at all and that they looked perfectly normal. So I said, "So does this mean I don't have PCOS like you thought?" and he said, "No, you still have PCOS." How can I have PCOS if I have no cysts on my ovaries? I'm confused....

Also, I'm going in for a follicle check tomorrow. How big do my follicles need to measure in order for my doctor to give me a trigger shot, and if I don't have any follicles, then what should my next step be, because obviously that will mean the clomid isn't doing a thing for me (this is month three 50, 100, now 150)

Thanks for your time!

Dani

Cramping after IUI

I am 4 days past my iui. The last couple of days, I've had pretty strong cramps concentrated near both ovaries. They are most noticeable when I am first sitting down or standing up.

Do you think this anything to be concerned about or could this be symptoms of a pregnancy?

Also, my breasts are sore and I'm awfully gassy.

I had 16 days of menopur injections.

is having polycystic ovaries and having polycystic ovarian sundromes the same thing?

hello DR.

i had an appointment with the doctor last saturday cos i did not have my periods after 20 days of my date and had a BFN on the HPT. my doc did an ultra sound scan and told me that my ovaries are polycystic. she said the blood is ready in the body to come out as my period but the cyst was stopping it from doing so.my question is:

1) is polycystic ovaries and pcos de same thing? because i heard ppl having pcos tend to have male pattern of hair on the body n will be diabetic n have hig blood pressure. i had neither of these. my doc told me that 99% of all cysts go away with a period and she has given me duphastone to get my period in has asked me to go for de 2nd U/S scan on day 3.

2)if there is blood ready to come out, does it mean i have already ovulated and de cyst formed after dat?

My husband and I have been ttc for 5 months now after me being on the pill for 4 years. I stopped using it in October 08, since then I have had regular pds, and we are baby dancing very often about 3-4 times a week. (We are still newlyweds ha ha) We though we had it this month, but I had an internal ultrasound and it showed a cyst on my rt ovarie. Does this mean I did not actually release an egg this month. We are young and healthy and this is very frusterating! Please help!

How large do Follicles need to be to produce eggs?

I have been on 150mg of Clomid. I had an ultrasound today to check for follicles on my ovaries. How big do they need to be? The tech said I had a "pretty good size one" on my left ovary. She said 1.2, is that big enough????

What is this pinching feeling in my ovaries?

For a few weeks now, I've been getting this pinchinhg/jabbing feeling in my ovaries. It's not severe, just a dull ache, more annoying than anything. I've always had a irregular cycle. What do you think this is? Advice would be great! Thanks!

Jen's Journey- BFP =)

Been trying to have our first baby for 3 years as of October 2008. My husband is 24 and I am 23. We were best friends in high school, I've known him since I was 6 years old. We've been together 6 years on November 2nd =)

Been married for 3 years. Bought our first house a month before we got married. We are hard working and honest mid-west people. =)

After stopping birth conrtol pills I did not have a period for 13 months. Then once I got a period every month I tried naturally for a year, nothing. So I went to the Dr and found out I do not ovulate on my own (even though I get a period each month I fall into the 20% of women who get a false period but do not ovulate) I'm on clomid right now.

First round 50 mg- No ovulation.

Second round 50 mg- No ovulation, but on huge follicle at least. Progesterone level 0.8 on cd 25.

Third Round 100 mg- 3 mature follicles, ovulated cd 15.

Nov. 29th 2008- GOT MY BFP =)

I am very thankful for this site and I ♥ all you ladies for helping me along the way!

Extreme large ovaries and OHSS (Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome)

When I went in for my 7th week ultrasound (no heartbeat detected) my ovaries seemed rather large...the lengths measuring 56 and 39 (was too shocked to pay attention to other numbers)

Is this severe/critical OHSS? could this scar my ovaries? I am unable to conceive mostly because of a severe male factor issue and have never had cysts..will OHSS scar my ovaries?

How long do u think i may have to wait before starting another cycle, fresh or frozen..

thank you
