Femara and Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor

I am on CD 13 and this is my first cycle using the fertility monitor. I found the OPK's too confusing and expensive =). This is my 2nd cycle on femara. Will the medicine affect the results of the monitor? I have not gotten anything but low fertility on my monitor and the monitor has been asking me to test since day 5. Is this okay? I think I usually ovulate around CD 17 so when would I start getting more bars on my monitor?

Hoping for a little bundle of joy

so been married for 3 years and we finally decided that it's time for a baby. i've been off the pill for over a year, but only recently have we been actively trying to have a baby. i've used opk's the past few months and get a positive every month. dh and i bd whenever we can, especially around O time. and this past month i really thought it was going to be a BFP. we bd for 4 days straight around O time so i really though we had done it...but nope...AF showed up. so here we go on another month. maybe we'll get a BFP by christmas!

About OPK's

This is my first time using one. I got a kit with 20 tests. The first 3 days i took tests, only the control line was visible. Nothing showed in the test area. The past 2 days, i get both lines but the test line is faint, which i know means No LH Surge, but my question is..since the past 2 days i got a line in the test area does that mean im getting closer to a LH Surge, since the first 3 days there was only the control line...I hope i didnt confuse you,lol Im a lil confused myself..my CM and CP are even hard to judge, my CM has been the same since my period ended and my CP will be high and then couple hours later its seems lower again..and i cant seem to tell the diff. between soft or firm..it always feels soft to me and it always feels open. I had given birth once before, so i know that normal.

OPKs and Ovidrel?

I did the trigger shot Ovidrel last night. I was just curious about using OPKs during this time. I did one last night and this morning and there isn't even a faint line. When taking ovidrel will I get a +OPK or does the shot interfere with the OPK readings? I'm just worried that maybe the trigger didn't work well. THANKS

Famera

I am starting Femara today to help me ovulate. I am supposed to use OPK's to see if I am ovulating...when should I start using them? I was thinking maybe you ovulate soon after you stop the femara since it is not in your system very long. I am on 2 2.5 mg pills days 3-7 of my cycle. What cycle day should i start using the opk's?

Please share femara stories, don't know what to think?

I had some cramping cd 8-12,

a possible positive opk cd11,

a definite positive (digital this time)cd13,

and nasty gas or period type cramps cd 16 and 17.

Anyway, I bd'd cd 6,8,10,13, and 16 so I'm pretty sure it's not my month, but am hoping for some advice or any stories that might shed light on my situation.

I should mention that I usually ovulate on my own on cd 14/15 with 29 day cycles, and took one femara daily cd3-7. Also my bbt chart didn't show a clear rise until cd16/17 but ff indicates ovulation at cd13.

Who else is trading their HPT's in for some OPK's??

I was pretty sure when I ovulated and the FIRST time I used OPK's I fell pregnant in June 2008 sadly lost baby on July 4th,2008 confirmed on July 7th, 2008 Well I used the OPK's until they were gone which was about 2 months ago aprx and just thought I knew when I ovulated well no luck yet again and AF is here now. So I have been ttc#1 for over a year and a half now and I just figured I would trade in my HPT's for some OPK's and MAYBE it will happen again right away and stick this time... So anyone else with me?? Otherwise Good Luck ladies and I hope to get a BFP before xmas atleast!

ovulation pains

Hi ladies, hope you can help me on this one, I have been using opks and been getting a faint line, well this afternoon the line was the same color as the control line ( to my eyes anyways, gonna try to post the pic in the morning and see what u ladies think) but then this evening I started getting really bad pains on my lower right side, im sure its ovulation pains, as I only have 1 ovary now, and its on that side... so when does the pain go away, after I ovulate? In the next 24-48 hours?

OPK's-did I mess this up????

Ok, I started my OPK's on CD11. Here's where I am at so far:

CD11- no line, not even in the light

CD12- good line but did not think it was my positive cause the WHOLE line was not as dark as the test line-only the edges.

CD13- another line, this one lighter than the day before, even on the edges

CD14- you have to turn it into the light to see the line

Now, I have 3 test left & I will go ahead & use them but do you think that CD12 was my + ?

Also, & sorry if this is TMI, but I am using a cup to catch the urine & dipping the OPK & there was EWCM floating in there on CD12 & I had some pretty sharp O pains on the evening of CD11. Last month I had a 28 day cycle with some spotting on CD27 & CD26 , just did not see what I consider full flow till CD28 & I did wonder if I'd O'd a little early last month.

Postiive OPK?

OK, I have seen where some of you have downloaded pics of your OPK's to see what others thought of them, if they were positive or not, how do I do that? I am on CD8 and finished clomid yesterday, and I think I got a positive OPK today, its not as dark as the control line, but there is a definitely 2 lines there. Do they need to be the same shade as the control line for it to be Positive? How do I put them on here for you SMART ladies to look at for me :) thanks for everything!

7 days late, neg hpts and blood test

So, at this point I believe its pretty conclusive that I'm not pregnant... what with neg hpts and a blood test. However, I am perplexed since I dont have PCOS, irregular periods, or have had any stress, weight gain/loss or anything else which could trigger this. When trying to conceive, I need to know when I'm ovulating in order to, ya know, get the job done. However, I'm now at a loss. I dont know when/if/how I will ovulate if I skip a period.

What advice do you have to someone who is in the midst of skipping a period who still wants to have use for this month? Should I just buy copious amounts of opks and start a'peein?

Also, I dont know if this is related, but I have had acne and tender boobs as though I am going to have a period very soon... but all cervical checks come up clear and dry. My right hip/ovarian area tends to throb at times and I'm worried that I might have a cyst. Are those just random? Do you not have to have a history to just have a random one?

Many questions, to be sure. Thanks in advance.

lh surge and opks

My RE thinks I may not ovulate monthly, because my estrogen is elevated. I told him when I have used the OPK's I get a positive. He said that doesnt necessarily mean your ovulating or releasing an egg, just that your pitutary gland is releasing the signal to do so. I hope I'm explaining myself correctly and remembering what he said.

Fourth day in a row with a positive OPK

Well, I was very excited to get my positive OPK four days ago. I usually get the positive and then stop testing. I went way overboard with tests this month, so I decided to keep testing to see how long the surge lasted. Today is my fourth day getting a positive OPK reading. Is this normal? Should I be worried about a hormonal problem?

I look forward to hearing the doctor's opinon, but if any of you ladies could fill me in, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

When should I test?

If I was using an OPK and got a positive mid-day last Tuesday, when will I beable to test? I am on cycle day 30. Tomorrow will be 31 and still no period but I ovulated late in my cycle (day 19 or 20) so would it be too early to test for pregnancy?

GREAT Information!!!

What about the sensitivity of ovulation tests and why might I need a different sensitivity?

Ok, we are going to dispel a few old wives’ tales here and give you some facts

Firstly, virtually every woman in the world will ovulate almost exactly 14 days BEFORE she starts her period – not the other way round!! That's fine for women with regular cycles of 26-30 days between each period but the trouble is a lot of women have irregular periods or other conditions such as PCOS, a lazy ovary, previous miscarriages, endometriosis, currently breast feeding etc., etc.

So what exactly happens is this

In any one cycle and on average, 80% of women will ovulate normally but around 11% of women will not ovulate at all and another 9% will ovulate twice or more. The latter explains a lot of those unwanted pregnancies by Roman Catholics trusting to the "rhythm method" to prevent conception!!

Now the “average” woman ............is there such a thing? will have an LH (the hormone that triggers ovulation) level of between 5-20 mIU in her system. When the surge occurs the basal level rises to approximately 50-200 mIU and at this level ovulation occurs and the egg is released from the ovary. This means that for most women the 30 mIU ovulation sensitivity tests will be ideal.

But how will I know if they are not right for me? I hate to say this but it is trial and error. Firstly, if there is a problem and you don’t seem to be ovulating normally – DON’T WORRY – it is not unusual. The reason is usually simple and is down to the fact that each woman is individual and can have different results from ovulation tests – here are just 2 examples:-

We have a woman approaching menopause who notices the test line on our standard 30 mIU tests never seems to get as dark or darker than the control line or doesn’t get any test line at all. This means the level of LH never reached the level that is considered "normal" when the surge occurs. In this case the person should try the higher sensitivity tests (15 mIU) as this will pick up the LH surge at much lower levels. On the other hand we have a lady who is suffering from PCOS and this can sometimes (NOT always) cause the LH level to be consistently at a higher level than "normal". This woman will appear to get a positive result with our 30 mIU tests over several days and she is therefore not certain when she is ovulating. In this case we would recommend she purchase the lower sensitivity (40 mIU) ovulation tests which will better pinpoint the LH surge.

So what do you recommend for a newcomer to all this?

Try the normal 30 mIU sensitivity ovulation tests and if you find any problems in pinpointing when you are ovulating then try one of the other sensitivity tests and that should solve the problem

How dark does the test line have to be to show that i am ovulating normally and what if I get no lines in the test window?

Essentially at any ovulation sensitivity level if you get no lines at all in the test window then you either haven't ovulated or the test is not sensitive enough to pick up the surge so you should go for the 15mIU sensitivity tests. At any sensitivity level if you get no test lines followed by faint lines for a couple of days which then fade back to no lines then that is the perfect indication that you have ovulated normally during those days. If, however, you get no lines at all in the test window with the highest sensitivity 15 mIU test (as far as we know, no one in the world does a more sensitive ovulation urine test) for 2 months then you should contact us for advice as we may be able to help. The email address is shown below.

Honestly, i had NO idea that you could buy diff sensitivity OPK's - did any of you!?!?!?
