What are my odds?

I get to have a blood beta drawn in 6 days and I am just curious... I know there is a 10% chance of twins on clomid. But if I ovulated 3 eggs(confirmed by sonograms) and my post-coital test was really good, what are my odds of twins or triplets?

hi doc Q and ladies!

so im just curious.....can you get pregnant with only one baby if you ovulated between 2 and 4 eggs? and if so why wouldn't all eggs get fertilised at the same time?

**********BABY DUST************

I am suppose to do IUI for the 1st time in Oct. The RE told me that he wants to see my if 2-4 eggs on each side. I will be taking Femara 25mg CD5-9 and Gonal-F CD7 until eggs are mature then HCG trigger shot.

He told me that anything more then 2-4 eggs on each side he will abort the IUI cycle and start over. Im trying to find out why he would stop the cycle if I had more 2-4 eggs on each side? I told him that I would love to have triplets but he said that he will not let that happen.

Plz Dr Q.. help me understand.

Enough breastmilk for multiples?

I just saw a story on the news about a woman who gave birth to septuplets!! (YIKES!!) And I'm just wondering, how many babies can a woman actually have enough milk to breastfeed exclusively?

Obviously you could alternate which babies got breastmilk and formula so they all got a little breastmilk.. but, what about the days BEFORE formula when a woman had multiples that actually survived?

Anyone seen girl in paper today who is 40stone and gave birth to triplets

It is in the paper today in UK she is only 19 is 40stone in weight and has given birth to triplets and seems to be the heaviest woman in the world who has had multiple births. It took 68 nurses and docs to perform the c section, at a whopping cost of £200,000 - and guess what she does not work. Made me angry when i read it to think how many ivf treatments that £200,000 would have funded for people here in UK especially when I have to find the money to pay for one, have worked all my life and never ever claimed from the GOVT.

Made me cry in anger when i read the story.

Local Mothers of Multiples groups.. for those expecting twins and more.

I just wanted to let those of you who are expecting multiples about MOM's groups. I was referred to a local MOM's group in my area by a neighbor who has teenage twins... she just found out I was having twins.

Immediatly after talking w/ her I recieved an email from the head of the group with instructions on how to sign up... it does costs $35 annually.

Anyways I was soooo impressed... they have many social events, playdates, sales for used items,, support , advice etc; I just got an email from the lady who is in charge of meals... they actually offer a meal service for the first few weeks home w/ your twins. They will arrange to drop off home cooked meals at your house. What a WONDERFULL service for a new mom with twins. I am sure I won't have much time to prepare a decent meal for myself let alone DH!

We won't be using the service because my MIL will be staying with us for the first couple of weeks to help with the babies, cleaning, cooking, etc;

Just thought I would encourage you all to look in your area and see if they have a MOM's group!

Update on OHSS and Follicals

Okay ladies went to the doc and I have 10 follicals and mild OHSS. I am still very sore and I have to decide if we want to keep this cycle going or cancel because of the number of follicals. We were going to do a trigger shot and 2 IUI. And yes they were all about the same size and maturity. Dh and I BD on Friday, Saturday and Sunday ... not knowing that we had so many follis.. so we are a little worried about getting 7 babies. No we are not going to do the trigger shot.

hoping for multiples

My husband and I have been without birth control for about 6 yrs and unable to conceive. We have our first appointment with a fertility specialist in a couple months. Are we crazy to be hoping for a multiple birth if and when we do conceive? We like the idea of one pregnancy, especially since we have had issues getting pregnant. However, we do not like the idea of an only child.

Does IUI increase the risk for multiples more than just Clomid?

I am starting my 4th round of Clomid this month, and my doc is giving me 2 more rounds after this, and if it doesn't work, it's onto IUI. I know with the Clomid our chances of twins alone is 1/20 as opposed to the normal 1/100. Does the IUI itself pose a higher risk for multiples more than 2? Or is it just when it is associated with other fertility meds, i.e. hcg shots, etc.

Dr Q:Please Help! Extremely High HCG

Hi Dr Q,

Please help me. At exactly four weeks pregnant my hcg level was 693. I had it done four days later and it was 5001. My numbers are doubling ever 1.4 days. By the time I reach 6 weeks my numbers are going to be over 3 million. I know this cannot be normal. Is this indication of a molar pregnancy?? Those numbers seem way too high. Please help!

Dr Q is this true?

Dr Q, I was told that When the fetus comes in contact with the uterine wall which has certain chemicals, the fetus gets a signal that there is some new life and the needs to grow and multiply. This can cause hemangiomas. Is this true? I tried googling but obviously I dont understand the uterus very well. What I say makes sense? Is this theory true?

What can be done to avoid contact with those chemicals if this theory is true?
