Sperm

Is a mans sperm count or mobility affected when they have the flu? If so how long does it take for them to return back to normal?

Just curious what 'treatments' mean in this situation....

So My fiance and I where talking today about all the doctors appts we've had for his sperm issue and it occured to us that we have forgotten to ask the doctors (urologist and hormorne specialist) what type of possible treatments they are talking about when they say "we may be able to treat this so that ivf wont be needed". We see the urologist this wednesday so will ask him then (its already written down in our note book to ask) but where jst curious as to anyones elses experience with this time of thing. He is also going to see a ANDROLOGIST next month and looks like they will be more then likely doing a biopsy in the nxt few months to check for sperm production etc.

Following are his latest test results...

SEMAN ANALYSIS:

*this sampal was 1mL which is still a low volume

*Sperm count is DOWN from 30million to 22million *Normal forms is UP from 17% to 23% (woohoo improvement)

*Active sperm is UP from 0% to drum role please....20% (still low but doc says is a good sign)

*sluggish sperm remains the same at 20%

*Non-motile is DOWN from 80% to now 60%

SPERM ANTIBODIES:

Negative to both IgG & IgA

THYROID:

*TSH Is normal @ 0.88

*Folate red cell is normal @ 1256

*Vitamin B12 is normal @ 622

LH ~ is slightly high @ 10.20, the recommanded range is 2.0-10.0

Prolatin ~ is normal @ 128

FSH ~ is still really high @ 18.2, the recommanded range is 1.5-13.0

His Pelvic CT scan was all normal too

He has also had a testicular u/s which showed his right testi to only be 2.6ml compared to his left one which is 6.6ml. We have also found out that he had surgery as a child for an undesented(sp??) right testi

Any opinions would be greatly appriciated.

Also I have bad endo and pcos (usually only o whn on clomid) so with his sperm issue added to that is it jst all fantasy to believe that even if they can treat his problem that we wont need ivf????

Dr Berkley- Q for you :)

Hello-

My husband and I have been trying for baby # 2 for 15 months- we have all had testing-

Recently my husbands sperm count has dropped dramatically- he has undergone blood work, and most recently an ultra sound- he has a mild veriocole. We have not gotten feedback yet form his urologist about this-

He recently is interested in accupuncture- do you find accupuncture can increase sperm counts and mobility.

Thank You

sperm results: when should we bd?

Hello,

Got some results of my husbands sperm count but no real details. They said they were happy with the results and that all is good except that the mobility slows down after 24 hours. Can you tell us how this might effect when we should bd? We were going to do it every other day and then every day one there is +OPK. Now we are wondering if we shouldn't be doing it every other day if the sperm slows down after 24 hours. THANKS!

Male infertility

We have been trying to conceive for 20 months, I have 2 children,my husband has none. My husband has been told he has a low sperm count and low mobility, Is there anything we can do to help this,we have changed to boxer shorts and addressed our diets, although we are both quite fit and not obese. Is there any chance a problem could lie with me also as my youngest child is 4 now and anything could happen in 4 years!
