hoping for a happy ending

My Hubby and I were married sep 2007, after the wedding I took up running, for someone who was never sporty her whole life!!! And only decided to TTC this year (2009) once completing a marathon. 2 weeks after my marathon I found out I was preggo!! It was such a surprise since I thought it would take a few months to conceive. It actually worked out perfect, my due date would have been end Dec and would leave me 6 months to recover and train again for the next marathon. Everything was going to plan until I started spotting, my first scan was due in 2 weeks, but I was worried.I planned to call the doc but the next thing I was bleeding. Beeing 9wks, my scan was only showing 6wks, and no heartbeat. 2wks later i miscarried. No doc could explain why. All I could think about was to try again, I had it in my mind it was the only thing that would help how much I hurt.

Two months later my wish came true!! By now my only wish was to have a bump by christmas, it was so exciting!! Went in to see the Doc when I found out, quick scan showed all was in place, far too small to see anything else, but Beta hsg was already bit low. A few days later I started spotting again, panic of course, and My Hubby and I scheduled a flight to SA,(I live in mid Africa) two days later I had a D&C, and all tests proved nothing wrong again!! So many questions , and no answers!! I could not believe it happened again!!! Why? Why? Why? I was devastated.

Being a positive person, I learnt to deal with it, and try and find out more by myself, yes I have had my bad days and still do, but listening to everyones stories here have been such a help!! my story is not half as bad as most!! and most of all i am not the only one!!!

So now its been 2 cycles later, on my third as we speak, I am now 26, Hubby 29, and I really really hope this is my month!!!!

my thoughts go out to everyone, and lots and lots of baby dust, and sticky glue!!

Exercise when you get your bfp after miscarriages

What I mean is there r so many of us on here that have had several m/c's and r very nervous and cautious after another bfp. So I'm wondering if u all sit around being really careful or go about ur normal life? Like working out I know in my head is fine during pregnancy however I just know when I get another bfp I will not touch the treadmill in fear of losing another and then blaming myself. Just curious how u all go about normal life, working out, having sex, cleaning with chemicals, etc.

Do you test for Natural Killer cells after failed IVF or 2 miscarriages without reason?

I have double the amount of them in my body and have had 4 miscarriages in a row, over the last 2.5 years. Anyway, some docs do this test and some don’t think its worth it. Do you do these tests? Like the APA, ANA, RIP, etc?

Here is part of what I was reading and I found it very interesting!

Increased peripheral and endometrial NK killing activity have been demonstrated among patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) who experienced spontaneous pregnancy loss or IVF failure. Interestingly, 40% of patients undergoing IVF with a diagnosis of endometriosis displayed increased NK activity. Identification of patients with increased NK cell activity will allow appropriate treatment for those who will benefit from it.

How soon can we start TTC again after miscarriage?

So my doctor says to wait 3 months before ttc again, and that until then we should use protection.

The INTERNET has all kinds of opinions, ranging from try right away, to waiting 6 months.

I saw a post on here where Dr. Q implied that it really doesn't make a difference....

So which is it? How long should we wait before trying again (chances are, given my history, that even if we start BDing today we still probably won't be pregnant for a year...lol)

Thanks for your responses.

Two miscarriages earlier--Regarding usage of Letoval

Hi I am 29 years old. I had two miscarriages earlier. First one was in the third month due to bleeding inside. Second one was a blighted ovum. Now I am planning for pregnancy. My doctor in India told me to take Letoval tablet for 5 days starting from the day 3 of period. She also told me to take ASA tablet daily. I have PCOD problem so for that I am taking Glycomet 500mg twice daily. The first two pregnancies were natural without any medicines..Now Can you please let me know if usage of Letoval would be safe? And also ASA? If I become pregnant, should I continue Metformin and ASA? How safe is the usage of Letoval? Also, my doctor has not advised for any scans after the usage of Letoval. She said it is not required. Only if I miss my periods, she said I would have to take a scan to confirm pregnancy. I would like you to guide me regarding this. Also, I am taking Homeopathic medicines for the PCOD problem and I am glad to say that my periods have become regular now. Should I continue with Homeopathy if I become pregnant?

2 Negative Cycles on Clomid 100 mg

In the last two years, I've had 3 miscarriages. I've heard it's because I have "old eggs"; I turned 40 last Nov. I have been on clomid 100 mg for the last two cycles, both with BFN's. The first cycle was 35 days and this one was 30. My dr. says to try 100 mg for one more month, since it's obviously helping with ovulation and shortening my periods. (I was having 10-12 day cycles; now it's 5-6). I'm wondering if she's right or if I need to increase to 150mg or add something else into the equation.

What are PGD with IVF sucess rates?

I have a question about PGD(Preimplation Gentic Diagnosis). I need PGD w/IVF to try and prevent chromosome 9 inversion(dh & I both have this)from transfering to our baby(next time we TTC since already pregnant which I'm not sure if this baby has it or not yet)because it causes miscarraige or minor to major birth defects. Well my question is how sucessful would this be for us as far as success rates go? Would this procedure damage our embryos? I have suffered recurrent miscarriages(6 miscarriages)and want to avoid spending money on IVF(I have to have IVF next time, IUI is not an option since my right fallopain tube is non-functioning due to past ectopic)just to have it end in M/C(miscarriage).

Had 2 miscarriages could it be related to PAI-1 levels of 43?

I have had 2 m/c in the 1st trimester. I had multiple tests done but the only numbers that came back close to being out of range were the PAI-1 which read 43 (I was told normal was 4-43) and my Homocysteine, Nutritional and Congenital, which read 4.6 (I was told normal was 5.4-11.9). My online research makes me think the Homocysteine is only a problem if it is too high, so that leaves me with the PAI-1 of 43. Could this be the problem?

The tests were done at 10 weeks, the day we just saw only yolk sac in the ultrasound.

What do you do if all of your tests are normal but still have recurrent miscarriages?

Ok, my question is, what do you do if all of your tests come out NORMAL but continue to have early miscarriages???

Dr what do you recommend to patients who have done ALL of the blood work, testing, etc and just can't get past the 8th week of pregnancy??

When do you quit trying??? What if there are no answers??

Trying again after 2 miscarriages??

Hey Ladies! I am wondering if I can get some advice/help. In July I had my first m/c. I was 5 wks. In Sept I had my 2nd m/c at 7 wks. I havent even been able to THINK about ttc again and I have felt completely broken and terrified!!

So DH and I have been talking, i am due for AF in the next day or so and we are thinking about trying again this next cycle. I am TERRIFIED. I can't see it not happening again. All I know is miscarriages. How can one keep trying whan that's all they know is miscarriage??

I have done the whole miscarriage workup and HSG and everything and it all came back normal. The Dr. put me on progesterone and baby asprin (I was on the baby asprin the 2nd m/c too) but we know noting else.

There are times I think I can try again adn then times that I think it will kill me to have another m/c. What do I do???

I know the outcome of a good pregnancy is "worth it" but what if that baby never comes???? Is it possible to have nothing BUT miscarriages??

Thanks for any advise that you might have. I do appreciate it!!!

Can Pericentric Inversion be the cause of miscarriages?

Hi we have been ttc for over a year. Dec 07 I came off BC and fell pregnant soon after. I had my first MC in Jan 08. I then got pregnant again in May and had an ectopic pregnancy in July resulting in removal of my ruptured right tube. We had a chromosome test done and my husband has a pericentric inversion of one chromosome 9 but was considered to be a normal variant. My OBGYN tells me that this is not the cause of my MC's but I have read other post that lead me to believe otherwise. Please help!

Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor 4G4G Diagnosis for recurrent miscarriages

I briefly spoke with my REs nurse this evening and was given this diagnosis for recurrent pregnancy loss. I have been instructed to continue with 1000mg Metformin x2 daily, Neevo prenatal vitamins, and 81mg baby aspirin. Upon BFP I will be giving myself daily injections of Lovenox.

I am trying to understand more about this diagnosis and the nurse said all she could tell me it is a blood clotting disorder.

How could this affect future pregnancies even with treatment? Is it worth the risk of TTC#2? I am also starting 50mg Clomid with my next cycle.

TIA,

Maggie
