Breast Milk Question

Hi Everyone!

I was just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes for your breast milk to dry up? Jake is 2 weeks 1 day old and I have been wearing tight sports bras constantly hoping to dry them up. I thought my milk was gone so I started going to bed braless again but last night I woke up with leaking boobs! So I was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes for the milk to completely dry up? Thanks ladies and Dr.Q!

I have milk coming from my nipples but i'm not pregnant

Me and my partner have been trying to conceive for the last 9 months, so far without any luck. I had been on the pill 'femodene ed' before this for a few years. Since coming off the pill my periods seemed to be regular straight away except for April when i had two periods in one month. They went back to being regular but in July i started to notice what looked like milk coming from my nipples. I went to the doctors who told me it's probably just my hormones due to trying to conceive. He did a urine pregnancy test while i was there and said he thought he might have seen a faint line but it might not be. Just go back if i didn't get my period. I was infact 10 days late but couldn't get to the doctors as i was in France. I did however take a clearble digital test which proved to be negative. My periods are pretty much regular once again but my nipples still have milk coming from them if squeezed. I don't want to go back to my doctors as i feel silly enough as it is. Has anyone any ideas as to what may be going on?

Things you may also need to know is that a few years ago i had an ectopic pregnancy and had my left tube removed.

I am 24 years of age my partner is 26

Okay....Breast producing milk after miscarriage

I had a D and C one week ago. I got up this morning and my bleeding and clot passing seem to have reverted to like it was the day after. I called my Dr. and he is prescribing some pills (hubby went to pick them up) I can't remember the name. I take 3 today and 3 tomorrow and he said it would help me bleed everything out. Well I looked down a few minutes ago and my t shirt was wet my breast are leaking colostrum a lot of it! I had my d and c at 10 weeks 4 days. My baby had no heartbeat and measure 8 weeks 2 days. Is it normal to leak milk? I took antibiotics and just finished them yesterday.

baby throwing up fresh milk

Mommies, need ur advise on this. My kids is 10 W old. I stopped giving Breast milk and shes completely on Similac Advance. She seems to have started this new thing of throwing up milk after feeding the last 10 days. No, its not curdled milk, its just fresh milk. She used to drink 3.5 -4 Oz easily and now she wont take more than 3 Oz and that too about 20 ml or so spits up. I burp her after every oz, carry her for an hour and then lay her down she spits up fresh milk. This is very new to her. Have any of yall experienced this? Earlier, she used to spit up, really less like a teaspoon or less. This doesnt seem to happen in the night times though (or may be I dont see it coz we are both asleep). Today after her milk slightly less than 3 Oz and burping, we took her on her carseat and stroller and the milk just came out so much. Have any of yall experienced this with ur babies? Im really worried. Ive tried diluting the formula and feed her more often, but wont work. I told my Dr 3 days ago that shes spitting milk, he wasnt too concerned or he just mistook that for usual baby spit up.

Breast Leaking after Ovulation

Dr. Q,

I had something weird happen today. I was checking to see if my nipples hurt and I squeezed my breast a little and a white substance (like milk) came out.

My daughter is two years old and I had to stop breast feeding at 6 months because my milk dried up. I haven't had this happen in a year and a half?

Another member said I could have high Prolactin...

What do I need to do?

I'm completely lost on what DPO I am, etc. Should I be worried? Should I not even get my hopes up for a BFP?

I'm worried

Joys of Soy when preggo?

Hey Doc Q - i dont like Milk, never have but now that i am preggo i try to drink one glass a day but just dont really remember all that often and sometimes (most of the time) it upsets my stomach. I have always had an issue with milk but not cheese or yogurt, et.

Anyway, i found that i really enjoy the Silk brand light chocolate soy milk and wondering if i get the same benefits from that as i would from regular milk? Its pretty tasty and has soy in it.

What are the benefits of soy anyway?

Okay so at first I was like NO WAY NOT BREASTFEEDING!!! Now I am warming up to the idea..

I just wanted to know what am I in for..

Those of you who recently gave birth can you answer some questions for me?

1. when did your milk come in

2. did it hurt when the milk came in

3. did you find it uncomfortable to the point where you were unable to move around easily when the milk came in? I ask this question because i want to be able to do thing with the babies you know instead of tied to a bed or couch in pain becuase of sore breast. My sister told me that when her milk came in that she could barley get out of bed..that was with her thrid child...

3. umm and any other things that you can think of positives and pluses about the events surrounding breast feeding..

Thanks for all of your help!!

Is it possible to re establish my milk supply?

Okay, so many of you know that because of my infection and taking antibiotics and the baby having jaundice I had to stop breastfeeding. It's been a week and a half now but if I squeeze my nipples I still get greyish color fluid coming out. Is that my milk? Is it possible that I still have some in there after so long of not breastfeeding? Can I re establish my supply and start breastfeeding again? My breasts are very squishy now and I dont have that full feeling anymore in them.

Levels of prolactin too high

Dr.Q... I had an appt with a fertility specialist yesterday and he told me that he thinks my prolactin levels are possibly too high. He came to this assumption because after giving birth 4 years ago I can still get milk/discharge out of my nipples(TMI, sorry). He said that should not be happening! He told me that my prolactin levels being too high can cause bad eggs. I had blood tests done today and will now just be waiting for the results. If this happens to be the reason we are having difficulty concieving is it a pretty easy "fix"? This doc told me that he would just put me on a medication to keep levels down until I achieved pregnancy. Does that sound about right to you? Just wondering and looking for a peace of mind while waiting for my next appt with that doc. Thanks a bunch Dr.Q!!!! :)

Whole Milk helps Ovulation?

Hi all,

I read this article in Newsweek about a month ago that was about low fat vs. full fat dairy products and fertility. Basically, it puts full-fat dairy products as "fertility aids" and actually stated that lowfat versions contributed to ovulatory infertility.

Since reading this article, I've been having whole-fat milk on my cereal and eating whole-fat yogurt, which seems soooo weird. Obviously, I've tried to cut some calories elsewhere. (Might be hard to switch back to skim when that BFP shows up!)

What are your thoughts on this? Are you all eating full-fat dairy??

Oh, and here's the link:

http://www.newsweek.com/id/73354

trying to get pregnant

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for the last 4 months and have not been able to. If I press my breasts milk comes out and I don't understand why? I went to the doctor and she sent me to get blood tests for my prolactin and put me on Dostinex for a month. What is this for?
