Dr- Will a combo of Lupron & Menopur help me with my next IUI?

Hi, I am in toward the end of a menopur IUI cycle. At 9dpIUI my lining is only 6mm and my progesterone is only 9.8. U/s confirmed that I ovulated.

Question: My doctor wants to add lupron next cycle. Is that going to help with the lining and progesterone levels? Why is he adding this?

Question about mixing Gonal F/Menopur-Please Help!

The first time I was given instructions about injections, the nurse said to take the Menopur in the morning and Gonal F at night. Now, today, the nurse told me that the liquid that comes with the powder Menopur is just water and that I could mix the Gonal F and the menopur together and have one shot instead of two. Is this correct?

Hi,

I have 4 boxes (20 vials) of expired Menopur (expired April 08) that is unopened and stored at room temperature. What are your thoughts on my using this? I'd hate to spend big bucks on news drugs if the chances are this is still fine. What would be the pros/cons? If it is going or has gone bad, what would that mean (no effect, less effect, or potentially harmful effects)?

How do I reconstitute 112.5iu's of menopur?

I have two vials of 75iu's of menopur. Do I use the same 1ml of solution to reconstitute the first vial, like I do with just 75???

I used the same 1ml- reconsituted the first vial of menopur, then did the second one,but only withdrew 1/2 of the solution...is this correct? So i only put in half the amount of liquid i normally do, but its more potent???? I am confused! please help so i can do it right tonight!

Dr Q, Dr Eva, or girls-

ug...My doc and nurse are out of town, so another nurse called with my u/s and n/w results today and said to up my menopur from 75iu to 112.5iu. If i do this, I will be using 1 1/2 vials...can I save the other half for tomorrow night?

It says it needs to be used right after mixing. The nurse was supposed to call me back and never did and now i am really confused! HELP!

Yikes! I literally almost passed out before I stuck the needle in my belly! But it didn't hurt at all! ...its just hard to convince yourself to stick yourself with a needle!

Backup: apparently clomid doesn't work on me :( I have PCOS and am taking metformin...injectables were the next step...

Anyone else doing them this month? Or thinking about it?

Gonal f in conjunction with Menopur

My first cycle I got pregnant with twins and miscarried at four months. The first cycle after miscarriage, nothing, failed cycle. Now he wants to up the gonal f dosage and add Menopur. What will the Menopur do? Will I have a better chance at conception?

Hi Dr. Q and Ladies!!

I will be doing IVF and received all my meds. I have a few questions. I was out of town and my meds were all sent in a cooler to a family member's house. They placed everything in the fridge for me. I just took everything home and I am looking over everything. I know two meds: follistim and Lupron must be kept in the fridge but I also have progesterone oil and the novarel powder to mix with the solution. Since everything has been in the fridge should I keep it there or should I leave the progesterone oil and the novarel out of the fridge until it is mixed?

Need your opinion on this too please ....after meeting with the IVF nurse and given two choices of how to now use follistim for this new cycle, I decided that I would continue using the follistim pen as I did with my IUIs and NOT have the follistim in vials and mix with the menopur. Thought it would be easier than mixing and the follistim pen is so easy to use. When I received my meds I have a ton of small 75IU vials of follistim instead of the cartridge for the pen as we discussed. I will be taking 150IU of follistim and 150 menopur each night. Should I just deal with it and try to change it out?

question about how to mix a double dose of bravelle

i just started taking 150 of the bravelle which is 2 vials of the powder.my question is i hope we did this right!but do we mix the two powders with just the 1 cc of liquid .thats what i had him do.i only remeber her saying to use the 2 powder vials she didnt say if we use the 1cc are do 1 cc each vial.if anyone knows please let me know.thanks!

Well despite my fertility probs like: Anovulatory cycles,progestrone defiancy,thin uterine linning, irregular periods, reccurent miscarriage, blood clotting prob, etc...

And after m/c 11/02 natural, natural full-term pregnancy...birth 12/04 that beat the odds(due to fertility probs),med m/c 11/07,med m/c 3/08, currently natural preg(that beat the odds was our ttc cycle off cuz of egg low quality & only 1 follicle...6/08 was suppose to be IUI but got moved to 7/08...but got preg naturaly!)& hope to stay & carry full-term due date 3/4/09. Been activaly ttcing w/dh since 12/06, clomid w/ovidrel 5 cycles,1 cycle of clomid w/5 vials of menopur 75iu(test to see how I respond to injectables)& ovidrel. IUI w/40 vials bravelle & 2 ovidrel...ect was "suppose to" be done...but on our cycle off from ttcing concieved even thought RE said low chances that month...guess he was wrong..lol..just hope this pregnancy sticks!!!! Pray for me everyone!

Well here's what has happened so far my LMP was 6/1/08, I had a beta test done 7/3/08 18dpo & the hcg levels were 2,068 & I have a u/s on 7/9/08, but I was curious if this level was high for a singleton pregnacy...& thought..is it possibly twins? I didn't use any meds this time...this cycle was suppose 2 be a ttc break...so this was a suprise pregnacy. Also I've had 3 m/c's in the past so...was worried if the hcg was even normal. Then I had an ER trip very late nite on 7/5/08(7/6/08 by the time I got my labs done & seen it was AM...lol) due 2 cramping...but I didn't m/c thank god!! I had my beta done again & it was 5,378 HCG & get this my u/s showed a singleton pregnancy & the baby measured @ 5w 4d!! So my dpo @ HCG 2,068 on 7/3/08 was really 22dpo not 18dpo..which is werid cuz my LMP was 6/1/08...so I'd ovulated on the 11th(7/11/08) not the 15th(7/15/08) which means instead of 14 days after LMP having ovulation I had 10days after LMP for ovulation?! So my dpo as of 7/6/08 is 25dpo & so my due date is changed & everything 3/4/09 instead of 3/8/09! Well it will be more confirmed @ my RE appt on 7/9/08 after another beta & u/s..& will keep u all posted! Was thinking is it possible to ovulate 10days after LMP?! Was that normal?! Since I'm a worry wart & paronid I wanted to be sure & I got some reassurence from some fellow TTCers on here :-) !

well funny thing about my current pregnancy really has to be the irony that I have been using fertility meds for the last 2 pregnancies that I m/c'd & this 1 was on no meds cuz I was suppose to take a break...cuz egg quality wasn't good enough..cuz I was gonna have an iui scheduled in 6/08 & it got moved to 7/08 instead...& than..BAM...suprise..we're pregnant!

I mean my RE had said that in July if my follicles are the right maturity size enough & my uterine lining is ok & other stuff like that...I can try to get pregnant & do a cycle of my meds & do my IUI procedure. I was told that if I tried in June I probaly wouldn't be successful...& it wouldn't be worth my money(I'm self-pay currently for everything)...since I have just only 1 follicle...which he thought was a cyst @ 1st in my exam...he said it was the same size it was b4 last cycle & hadn't changed...that if a follicle stops maturing sometimes it turns into a cyst...& it may or may not be reabsorbed by my body....but to make sure it wasn't a cyst they needed to do some blood work...so they did & I went home waiting for their call.....well the RE's office called me back to say it wasn't a cyst, but that is was a follicle that had stopped maturing for some reason & the tests say that follicle is producing estrogen so it may continue to mature & release an egg...but....they weren't sure...& that I should just hold off that cycle from IUI till July to see what chances I might stand for pregnacy then. My RE wanted me to have a few follicles...that arn't so immature to try to have a successful cycle w/meds & my IUI procedure. And well here I am now w/the odds beat & pregnant..lol! I'll update you all more later!

Dr. Q.....A question about Repronex

Hi Dr. Q,

I am going through the IVF process and am currently on gonal f 450 and lupron 5. Today at the RE's, he said that thus far I only have 3 follies. So, he prescribed Repronex,gonal f 450 and lupron 2.5. My question is, usually I produce a lot of follies (even mature ones) and this cycle I don't have that many. Do you think that the Repronex will help produce more? Thanks. I am really worried, because I want to have many to work with.

Ovulation disorder

I'm 28 and my husband is 27. I've been married to the greatest man for just over 2 years (I love being his wife) and we've been TTC since June 2007. I have a mild case of PCOS, mainly an ovulatory dysfunction. (No acne, weight is healthy, etc.) We began seeing an RE in May, and he's fantastic! We feel very lucky, because he's one of the top fertility doctors in the nation, and people fly from around the world to see him. My husband's sperm count is fine (he's very proud of his super sperm), so that was good news. Our RE told us that he could get us pregnant by the end of this year if not before, so we're really happy! Apparently my type of fertility issue is easy to fix. My HSG returned normal, tubes are open, uterus looks fine, it's just that I don't ovulate on my own, and have crazy irregular cycles without meds.(anywhere from 28 to 81 days). I've been taking 2000 mg of Metformin since March (1000 mg before that for 2 months), and we just had our first IUI on June 5, with over 20 million of hubby's super sperm ;) (I used Menopur as well as 50 mg of Clomid, and then a trigger shot of Novarel) so we're keeping our fingers crossed. I'll know by the 19th if I'm pregnant or not.

i did a clomid/menopur mix last cycel and got real sick with bronchitis this cycle so we are just using clomid and skipping IUI this time. Today is cd 15 and I am experience some very light spotting, what could this be?
