Measuring Bigger... What does it mean?

Hi Dr.Q and Ladies!

I'm hoping you can help me out with this. I had my 30 week appointment today. I'm 30 weeks pregnant today! And I am measuring over 31 weeks and the doctor said I have a big baby and said he weighs around 4 lbs. Does this mean anything? My expected due date is October 1st but I'm wondering since I am measuring bigger that maybe I will go a little sooner than that? Is it normal to be measuring larger? Thanks so much for your help!

Ohh, I also have been having horrible heartburn. Of course I forgot to mention this to my doctor when I was there. I dont get it during the day at all but it keeps me up at night. Is there anything I can do to prevent it? I dont think it matters what I eat because last night I ate a few graham crackers before bed and I didnt think you could get heartburn from graham crackers but lately I get it from anything I eat! Even water!

went for 33 wk appt today...

I had my 33 week appointment today. The midwife told my that I have been consistently measuring 3 weeks larger than I should. I asked her what that meant and she wouldnt really say. She acknowledged that I am a large woman to begin with (5'8) and that might have something to do with it. She then started asking about my GTT and if I've had ultrasounds to measure the baby aside from my normal 18 week scan. (i have not) I asked her if she felt the baby was big and she only answered by saying, well you are measuring big. Not sure if that means yes or no. At any rate, now I'm kinda panicking. I am thinking about Sara's situation where she was induced early to avoid birthing a really large child - and I wonder...is that where I'm heading? Oh, and I also gained 4 lbs in two weeks and had only gained 12 pounds until now the entire pregnancy.

Wow, that was wordy, sorry....my question is aside from gestational age, what other factors are considered when measuring the belly? SHould I be concerned that I am measuring large?

Also, should I be preparing myself mentally for maybe delivering sooner than 7 weeks from now? I'm freaking!

Thanks
