Can fallopian tubes close/block again after laparoscopy?

Hello! I am almost 6 months post -op from my hysteroscopy and laparoscopy and was wondering if my tubes could get blocked again? Both my tubes were blocked and successfully unblocked after surgery. We however have been told to do IVF b/c of my hubby's low sperm count. He was under the 20million mark. We went to his urologist and he went on chlomid and after 3 months, his count doubled. The urologist said that my tubes are like other tubes in the body and could close back up!? He thinks we should do IUI again.

Success after IUI and Laparoscopy

DH and I have been ttc for 1.5 years. I have irregular cycles so I went to an OB as soon as we started trying, and shortly after we were referred to an RE due to DH's morphology. It was 6% but everything else was very good. The RE looked at my DH's results and said that he rarely sees a number higher than that and so everything is completely fine with him. I was sent for bloodwork and HSG and everything came back normal. So, unexplained infertility...Right off the bat my RE recommended IVF. I didn't feel ready for it yet, so he agreed I could try IUI with injectables.

Our first IUI cycle was 10 months after we started ttc. I responded well to Gonal F, too well in fact. I had a lot of follicles, with only one lead one. Since there were so many follies close by I got triggered when only one was mature so that others don't catch up and risk multiples. This cycle was a BFN. My dosage was lowered for the next cycle but again only one lead took off with others trailing behind. Another BFN. At my clinic the goal is to produce 2-4 mature follies during an injectable cycle, so I was disappointed to be triggered with only one each time. I am producing one each month on my own, so it seemed like such a waste of effort and money.

For the third cycle my Dr. changed my protocol and added Lupron on CD3 and then 2 days later Gonal F. It worked like a charm. I was still producing lots of follies but this time there was a cluster of 3 that were close in size!!! Finally!! Still, the cycle didn't work. At this point I have been thinking about Laparoscopy for quite some time. My Dr. didn't think I needed it but he did give me a blood test which came back slightly elevated indicating that something was going on inside. Finally I decided to go for the Lap and then do one more IUI before moving on to IVF. The procedure showed I had no endometriosis, but I did have lots of scar tissue completely blocking my dominant ovary from my tube. Who knew! The HSG never picked that up because the tube was actually clear.

I got thumbs up from my RE after the surgery and went on to my 4th Gonal F/IUI cycle right after the Lap . Again, I had great response to Lupron/Gonal F and had a number of follies. 10 days after my IUI the HPT showed the faintest of the lines. The next morning another faint line. I couldn't believe it. I went out and bought a digital which said "YES". This is when it finally started to sink in!! I had a beta a few days later which came back nice and strong at 13DPO and another strong beta 4 days later.

Here I am 6.5 weeks pregnant, excited and scared at the same time. I have received so much support on this site through the past year, it helped me answer so many questions and kept me sane at times through this long ttc process. I hope to share my journey with many others and wish everyone success.

Negative OPK's, no O...but getting lighter. What's going on?

I have been doing opk's for the past 3 days, none indicate O, but the second one is the darkest. Today's line was barely visible. I ovulate late in my cycle, so I usually start testing around CD 17. I had a lap done mid February, could that effect ovulation, making it later this time around? I usually get EWCM the day of O, and have not had it, so I am fairly certain I didn't miss it.

could a laparoscopy delay my period AF?

I had surgery done yesterday, to remove some endometriosis. AF is due in 2-4 days, and by then I will be less than a week out from surgery. Should I expect a longer cycle, due to the surgery? BTW I O late, usually around CD 19-20, and I had my surgery at 7 DPO, is that too early in the LP to do surgery, just in case I am pregnant?

Do I really need a operative hysteroscopy?

I am a soon to be 29 yr old female bmi of 43, dd that will be 5 in may, delivered by c-section.(she took 3 yrs to concieve without meds, it just finally happened) DH is fine:) We have been ttc for 4 yrs again without success. I have done several rounds of clomid, 3 rounds of gonal f and 1 iui, last medicated round being femera and gonal f, I usually respond with 1-3 follicles and still bfn... Diagnosed with ovulation dysfunction. I have been having pain near left ovary esp around period and ovulation since july 10, before moving to IVF, Re rec. I have laparoscopy to check for endo and adhesions/scar tissue/ tubes. In july 10 I had a salinesonogram and it showed no fibroids, no problems, tubes open. In nov 09 I had an HSG test, Tubes open, no blockages. Today the hospital called for pre-op registration/health hx and said they have me down for an operative hysteroscopy, I will call RE tomorrow and see if this is a mistake, but I feel with the 2 tests I have already had done that we are pretty sure no fibroids or problems that way. I am confused.. Would you recomend a laparoscopy or operative hysteroscopy or both, or would my chances be the same to go straight to IVF? Help...

Who Wants a BFP For Valentines Day?

Hello Ladies (and Gents?)

I am on my second round of 50Mg's of Clomid starting today CD3. I am scheduled to ovulate on CD 11 like I always do in my 26 day cycle. I have had a LAP & Dye on Dec 2nd with an enlarged right ovary that kinda hangs down below uterus(?) no visible endo, and both tubes seem clear. However we have been ttc for 12 months with no luck, charting and all. I am 36 years old and have a 6 y.o. already (after Lap/Dye/Antibiotics). I hope this is the month for us and I'm sending babydust to each and every one of you!!!! FX'd

P.s. I'm also doing Antibiotic therapy for 14 days of which I am on day 7, so hopefully all of these things will play a BFP role in my pregnancy journey!

Get a 3rd opinion in you have to!!!

Hello everyone!

Okay, well my husband and I have been TTC since the 1st of August 2008, and have not been successful. I was diagnosed at 16 with PCOS so we figured it had something to do with it. Dec 31st, 2008 I ended up in emergency surgery and had to have my left ovary removed along with a 13x14cm massive cyst that had twisted and caused me to bleed inside. The doc I was seeing then kept putting me off when I was telling them about the pain and symptoms I was experiencing. I could have died from the bleeding, but that doctor didn't care.

We moved and my second doctor wasn't very helpful either. He told me that I was overweight and that's all that was wrong. I am 5'6" and weigh 160lbs. Not that overweight... He ran a few labs and told me that I have PCOS. (already knew that) He told me to give it more time. It had been over a year at that point, and I wasn't happy. Then my AF didn't show, and an ultrasound showed another large cyst, and also that my uterus was in bad shape and possible septated from scar tissue. His answer, just don't have kids.

I threw a fit and got into a 3rd doctor, but it took fighting with my insurance to get it. I took all my records and U/S reports, and he asked why no one had done something about the problems I'm having. Now we're set up to have a laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and chromotubation on the 29th of Dec, just 2 weeks away. He explained what's going on and how we can treat my PCOS.

He explained that the surgery was neccessary because if I had gotten pregnant without it I would have not been able to carry past 12 weeks due to the shape my uterus is in. He is also going to repair the damage done by my emergency surgery. Once I've healed and if everything is in the clear from my chromotubation, he's gonna start us on some meds and do close monitoring to help us conceive.

I'm excited, and actually looking forward to the surgeries to get things fixed and find out what our options are. But I just wanted to share this because if you feel like your doctor isn't really wanting to help you- FIND A NEW ONE!!! It is so worth it!

BaByDuST to everyone!!!

What are my chances after Laparoscopy removed Endometriosis?

I had a laparoscopy 3 weeks ago which found stage 2.5 Endometriosis on ovaries, uterus, and vaginal canal. All was removed via lazer.

I am 25, also have PCOS but am ovulating on my own. DH is 28 and all clear.

My RE wants to go ahead with injectibles & IUI next cycle.

What are my chances of conceiving now?

Late ovulation after Laparoscopy?

I had a lap 1 week ago which showed endometriosis on ovaries, uterus, and vaginal canal. All of it was removed.

About that time was when I would have typically ovulated. I did not take OPKs or pay attention to cervical mucous b/c of having surgery and assumed this was a break month.

However, TODAY, which is 1 week after lap and typical O time, I am noticing EWCM. Have not gottoen +OPK yet.

My questions is, would having surgery possibly have delayed my ovulation? Could I be ovulating soon and if so is it safe to TTC since I just had the endo removed? (RE said I could resume intercourse after 1 week.)

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

Laparoscopy Results

Well, I had my LAP yesterday. They found lots of endometriosis. It was on both ovaries, my uterus, and the top of the vaginal canal. Good news is, they were able to get it all out!

Have my post-op in 2 weeks, guess I will know more then, but hoping this means I will now be able to conceive!

LAP scheduled for next week.

So after 2 unsuccessful round of injectables with IUI, I am scheduled for my laparoscopy next wed., Oct. 7th. I am very nervouse since I have never been put under before.

I kind of hope I do have Endometriosis and that they are able to get rid of it. At least that will give me a reason why I haven't gotten pregnant yet.

These are the symptoms I have:

-cramps

-backache before and during periods

-ovarian type pelvic pains throughout cycle

-sometimes pain during intercourse

-gastrointestinal problems, consti[ation, diarrhea, etc.

-infertility

-pre-menstrual spotting

I've also read that some women with endo are more likely to have hypo-thyroid disease and rheumatoid arthritis (both of which i have been diagnosed with.)

What do you think?

Any suggestions or pieces of advice?

Should I have a laparoscopy?

I have been TTC for almost a year now, all tests (b/w, HSG) came back normal, including SA for my DH. I was told I have unexplained infertility and had one 'Gonal F and IUI' cycle so far (BFN). I brought up some concerns over irregular and sometimes painful periods with my RE and he ordered a CA-125 test for me. The test came back at 32 (>35 being the cut-off). My Dr. said it's borderline high but if I do have endometriosis then it's likely to only a mild one. Of course, the only way to know is by a laparoscopy. He said mild endo it is not likely to be a factor in my infertility, but if I wanted to, I could have a lap.

Should I have a lap or just keep on with Gonal F and IUI?

Also, at the last ultrasound during my Gonal F cycle a Dr. (not my RE) noted that my right ovary was enlarged, difficult to reach and appeared polycystic. I don't have PCOS, so can this be connected to endometriosis?

Rising HCG after Laparoscopy for ectopic

Does anyone know what this can mean? I'm getting follow up done but I feel scared about this being something quite terrible. I had a lap done about 4 weeks ago, and have hcg monitoring. My levels decreased slowly from 681 to 111...I went in for bloodwork 4 days ago and my level went up to 619.

Is it possible to have residual tissue that keeps growing/dividing after a lap for an ectopic?

Thanks for any insight to anyone who is reading!

Why is my period so painful and heavy after laparoscopy?

I finally started AF today! Thank goodness...it was 3 weeks late. Anyway...it is the heaviest period I have ever had. My doctor told me it would be very heavy with lots of brown stuff. Well, it is BRIGHT red and coming out fast (sorry if TMI). I hope I do not get anemic from this. I have never had such a heavy period before. Usually I have lots of clotting and I have none of this now..which I guess is good. but it is SO heavy. Is this normal after a surgery (i had a lot of endometriosis and several polyps blocking my fallopian tubes). I called me doctor but she is out of town today.
