The latest on me, more to come tomorrow...BFP here I come!

Was supposed to have LAP done today, but since insurance is screwed up, I don't want to risk being charged out of pocket if they claim it as pre-existing...so waiting til April atleast, that way the pre-existing clause is no longer in effect. I had repeat labs for my prolactin on Monday, so I will find out tomorrow at my appt. how that's doing. I am also going to talk to my Dr. about just doing the HSG right now, I have had recommendations by Dr. Q and several others here, to go with the less invasive first, and that totally makes sense. So I hope I can get that done soon! I am going to see if they can bill it as something other than infertility so insurance will cover it, but then if they do I will have to wait on that also! That's all I have for now. Wish me luck tomorrow, and prayers that prolactin is ok.

Should I do the HSG now, or wait for a laproscopy?

I have been TTC for 15 months now, and as far as I know have never been pg. I have been tested for just about everything, except Lap to check for endometriosis, and HSG for blocked tubes...my doc wants to do both, but I can't afford both right now, as insurance will not cover it because it would be considered pre existing. I either have to wait til April to have it covered, or pay out of pocket. I have already been waiting over a year to find out what is going on, and it's not getting any better. I want to do the HSG first, instead of at the same time as the LAP.

What do you think? Should I just tough it out for the next few months, and wait for insurance, or do it now? My gut feeling is there is a blockage, because I have regular cycles, ovulate on my own (determined thru progesterone test), and hit all the right days for TTC.

I am 23 and my bf is 32 and has 4 kids of his own, so he has no problem!

Has anyone had either one of these procedures, and what was your diagnosis and outcome?

My aunt took fertility drugs(im not sure which one) and became pregnant within 2 months. i dont know what steps i should take next and kinda feel like im at a dead-end with no insurance! If anyone could PLEASE give me some advise i would greatly appreciate it! (and the names of some insurance companies that would cover fertility drugs if needed... the insurance i would just want to cover me) Also would i be able to go to my family doctor for help with my problem even tho i know he does not specialize in this?

Health insurance question

I'm sorta confused about my health insurance coverage with infertility. I called my health insurance company (Anthem) and they said my insurance does NOT cover procedurces for infertility. Well..I got a statment in the mail regarding my IUI w/out meds and the total cost was 189 dollars and it shows the following...Charge= 189.00 Allowable amount= 96.79 Provider responsibility= 92.21 Deductible= 0 Copay/coinsurance= 15.00(which i paid) Amount paid to provider= 81.79 So what do I owe??? It said this is not a bill. My provider participation status is In Network. How does this work?? I'm an idiot when it comes to figuring out stuff like this. I thought I would have to pay for the whole thing. If anyone understands this please explain it to me. Thanks a lot. :)

So contact your insurance co. b/f you buy one!!!!

Thanks Oliver!!!

I am SO confused and scared & Lonely

Okay so let me start off by saying thank-you to whom ever answers this for me. So here's my story so far. I was diagnosed with P.C.O.S earlier this year after having blood test's done. I was sent to an infertility specialist for help becoming pregnant and he had me tested for diabetes/ came back negative thank god. Well as far as I know he was going to start me on medicine after wards but my insurance changed because I turned 18 and I had to get my own insurance. Now they don't except my new insurance and I was doing so much looking around for insurance and then came across someone who told me (an insurer) that no self pay insurance will cover infertility in Pennsylvania. So then I was wondering what in the world could I possibly do. If I don't have the money to pay 700.00 to see the infertility doctor. maybe you know something I don't. thank-you Alyssa

endometriosis

I need some advice. I ended up in the emergency room yet again about a month ago from pain that i didnt know what it was. the docs finally decided to find out by doing tests a pelvic exam, and ultimately an ultrasound. they said that they found endometriosis and a cyst on my ovary. i have tried to go to my ob but they want me to pay the office visit and every thing up front(no insurance) and 65 for visit and then extra for any tests is just to much i dont have that type of money. my husband wont be able to reinstate his health insurance until april of 09. but i am hurting really bad now. so i'm kinda stuck. what should i do? i cant go to the doc cause i dont have the money, i'm hurting really bad and cant do anything about it. please help me??

Egg donation and IVF

For a donor cycle it would be about $20,000 out of pocket - my stuff will be covered 100% (like the fertilization, monitoring the embryo, transfer and meds for after the transfer, etc) cuz I have some insurance $ left but the insurance doesn’t cover any donor stuff.

The lady from the clinic will be sending me a list of expenses but went over it with me on the phone and the lady that donates only gets $3,500.00 for her trouble! Wow, thats very kind of her to do, its not a fun thing to go thru.

I also found this out 2day...... each of us (me and DH) has a $30,000.00 cap for infertility treatments thru the insurance but they wont go $60,000.00 and pool it 2gether. I cant understand that at all. There is really nothing besides surgery that DH would have to do that would cost money and a surgery may even be covered by regular insurance.

Here is the breakdown at my clinic:

10,020.00 - 10% so

$8,517.00 for the 1st part (monitoring, retreival and suck)

$3,500 to the donor

210 for insurance on the donor

500 for anistesia

$4,373 for the FDA testing at the start

200 for administrative fees

$3,000 for meds for both her and I

I figured it was gonna be aroung 10 grand out of pocket but this is double. I may have to re-think this donor thing! Uggg..... lol!

No Infertility Insurance :(

Well my work discontinued our infertility insurance. My husband and I have been ttc for a little over a year. We use OPKs. I have endometriosis. I was planning on going to be seen next month to take the next step but when I called Blue Cross was told I have no coverage for infertility. I am going to be seen for my endo on Friday and am hoping they can do something for that that will have a positive effect on my chances. The insurance said as long as it wasn't billed as infertility it would be ok but once a procedure is for infertility they will deny the claim. Is there any advice on other things I can try since major medical procedures are out.

Thanks for the advice!
