While on injectables, can a person ovulate on their own?

If person is on injectables, can ovulation occur w/o a trigger shot or is the trigger shot needed? Or is it the idea to trigger ovulation before the person ovulates on their own?

clomid vs injectables

Hey doc,

I am seeing an RE. Last cycle I did my first round of clomid 100mg. I was supposed to be doing an IUI but but from what my RE said that I wasn't responding to the clomid. She told me next cycle that she will up dose the clomid to 150mg and if it didn't work that she was gonna put me on injectables.

Now my question is will the clomid 150mg make a big difference or should I ask to go straight to the injectables?

I have PCOS and taking Metformin and also taking Dexamenthasone for high testosterone. DH and I really want a baby and don't want to waste time with the clomid with 150mg if it's not gonna work.

what do you think?

thank you

Stacy

My first night of injectables- Menopur

Yikes! I literally almost passed out before I stuck the needle in my belly! But it didn't hurt at all! ...its just hard to convince yourself to stick yourself with a needle!

Backup: apparently clomid doesn't work on me :( I have PCOS and am taking metformin...injectables were the next step...

Anyone else doing them this month? Or thinking about it?

few questions with using injectables.. please help!

So I just finished my first round of injectables. I had my last injection of follistim on sept 29th.... then my husband gave me the 2ccs of pregnyl on the sept 30th and then the last 1cc of pregnyl on oct 6th. First of all can someone tell me what the second shot of pregnyl would be for if the first one was suppose to make me ovulate? second, how long after that injection do you ovulate? Also I started cramping the day after my first injection of the pregnyl and it has been doing that on and off since... is that ok? Then lastly, for the last 2 days I have had a large amount of cervical mucus... it isn't like the fertile mucus you get during ovulation(sorry if this is tmi) it just feels like it is constantly wet down there. What could that be from? Sorry if it kinda seems like alot but like I said this is my first cycle using the injectables and my first time ovulating in a long time and don't know what to think... Thanks!

I am suppose to do IUI for the 1st time in Oct. The RE told me that he wants to see my if 2-4 eggs on each side. I will be taking Femara 25mg CD5-9 and Gonal-F CD7 until eggs are mature then HCG trigger shot.

He told me that anything more then 2-4 eggs on each side he will abort the IUI cycle and start over. Im trying to find out why he would stop the cycle if I had more 2-4 eggs on each side? I told him that I would love to have triplets but he said that he will not let that happen.

Plz Dr Q.. help me understand.

Adjusting IUI protocols?

Hi doctor,

My husband and I understand that we may have to resort to IVF/ICSI to get pregnant, if IUIs continue to not work. We want to move progressively toward ICSI, and make it our last resort, if there's any reasonable chance of getting pregnant via less invasive means, such as IUI.

We're dealing with low sperm count (3 million post-wash) and sometimes low motility (anywhere from 40-60%).

Given that we want to gradually increase our procedures, does it make sense to try IUIs with meds such as Clomid and/or tropins? Given the sperm issues, would it increase our odds, or would it be a waste of time?

Many thanks!

DR. Q and ladies... IUI and meds

I'm on my 4th round of Clomid, and my doc is giving me 2 more rounds before we go to IUI, so hopefully we won't even have to go to it! But after 19 mths of TTC #2, i'm not so hopeful.

Anyway, just wanted to know what is usually involved with the IUI as far as meds go? Is it up to each RE to determine what route and how aggressively you approach it. For instance, does everyone do the trigger shots to time it with when they're goin to do the IUI procedure? And are you still on the CLomid and possibly another med?

Anything you can tell me is helpful. Thanks :)

Low HCG level currently doing injectables

I am concerned I had my last cycle of clomid with my IUI on July 8th. Started my cycle on July 27th, very long cycle 36 days. Normally 28-29 for me. Took 4 preg tests all neg! Started injectables bravelle (150) July 29 cycle day 3-7 has first u/s b/w had 3 follicles range of 11-16. Notified dr I was still spotting light brown, so 2nd u/s b/w they ordered preg test. 5 follicles range from 12-16, got a call had a +hcg at a level of 28. What could this mean? Miscarriage? Never fully implanted? I have to go back in for bloodwork on Friday, not sure what to think! Any Suggestions

5 cycles of Clomid and no ovulation

Dr. Q or anyone...

Is it reasonable to ask for another type of fertility treatment, such as injectables, after 5 consecutive cycles of clomid and no ovulation?

I have an appt. with my RE on Monday and I would like to discuss this with him.

2nd round of injectables

I have recently changed RE's and am currently doing my 2nd round of injectables to be followed with an IUI. I started clomid CD1-5 & on CD5 started 150 of follistim (overlap). I am to have blood work and an U/S on Tuesday. My first round back in April was clomid 150mg CD3-7 & on CD8 I started 150 of follistim with a micro dose of ovridel for 5 days. What was the purpose of the micro ovridel that was used during my first round? Does this injectable increase your chances of pregancy? I also have a problem with low estrogen--will starting the meds earlier in my cycle increase my E2 levels or should I ask for supplementation. In April I had a follicle 23, 18 & 15 and an E2 of less than 200. This will be my 3rd attempt at IUI---I was wondering how common and if a good practice to do back to back IUI's--1 using my DH sperm and then a sperm donor. My DH has some morphology issues.

Question for Doctor about Ovulation

I've read so many posts from you doctors saying that if I have a regular period, which I do, than I ovulate. We've been trying to get pregnant for the last 8 months and no success. What could it be if it seems that I ovulate every month and have a regular perdiod. I test with OPK every month to see the best days for ovulation and some months I do not see that the line gets as dark as it says on the package it shoud get.
