I have high FSH and low Estrogen levels....what does this mean?

I am 29, my partner is 49 and we have been trying for around 2 years with no success. I am booked into a fertility clinic on 8 December but wondered what you could tell me about the above?

I have been told that my pituitary gland is fine but that it is having to work overtime to attempt to get my ovaries to do 'something'. I have been told that these hormone levels indiciate either a lack of eggs or that my ovaries are not releasing them.

Question about Thyroid

I am 36 years old and have been ttc for 8 months with no success. I had my blood drawn on CD21 and my progesterone was 8.5, which I understand is low, and what is causing my luteal phase defect (luteal phase has been 8-10 days on average).

I have read that hypothyroidism can cause infertility. On my return visit to the doctor, I asked to have my thyroid checked. They said that my numbers are within the normal range, but I know that "normal" and "mild hypothyroidism" can be a very fine line.

My numbers were:

TSH 1.13

T3 3.44

Free T4 1.1

Do these numbers look ok, or is it possible that I'm a bit hypothyroid, and that what might be causing my lowprogesterone and luteal phase defect?

Thanks!

Healthy 23 y/o cannot conceive, but everything is normal?(according to obgyn)

I have had this problem for as far back as i can remember. As a teenager i began getting chronic pain before and during my period. Sometimes I'd miss a period but nothing I've ever felt compared to this pain. Was diagnosed at 13 with PCOS, but ive never had any cysts up until about 2 years ago which went away on it's own. My husband and i have been trying to conceive for 3 years now and nothing is working. We have not yet used any other methods of conception besides quitting smoking which i did right away, eating healthy, and exercising to stay in shape. I thought maybe my problems were from being over weight. I lost 130lbs. Wasnt surprised when that didnt work either. 2007 i got pregnant but miscarried before i even knew i was pregnant. Recently i have been having serious period pains and irregularities including a large amount of clots. July 2009 i was bleeding for a month. Heavy clotting. Started 1 week before my period was due (since dropping the weight my periods are more regular 26-31 day cycles) and had a lot of pain. I finally decided to go to the ER and the ER physician told me there is no indication of any cysts or abnormalities, that i should go home and let nature take it's course. So i did....Now again...october 2009...im bleeding 1 week early with heavy clots. I'm worried i might be miscarrying again...if not...what is wrong with me?!?!? my husband is perfectly healthy...doctors say there should be no reason why i should not be able to conceive...I take my BBT every morning, if not every other and monitor my cervical mucus for ovulation...please help!! I'm becoming desperate for answers!!!

Is Metformin necessary to get pregnant?

I was put on Metformin for insulin resistance, but I am not one for unnecessary meds. I continue to read post after post that Metformin is not going to help me get pregnant, so I am wondering do I even need it? Is it actually fixing a problem that needs to be fixed? Also, if it is not going to help get pregnant, why does my doctor insist I use it for two months to see if I begin ovulating again before using other meds? Why not just go ahead and give me the meds I need to help? Thanks for any helpful information!

how many IUIs are too many?

Ladies, I'm really wrestling with that tough question...

When do you know it's time to move on to IVF? My RE wants to do a 5th IUI with injectibles this time, and I just have this feeling in my gut that it's time to leave the IUI world behind.

Ugh...I can't wrap my head around this fertility stuff. What are your thoughts, experiences, and comments?

How many IUIs to do???

Anyone tried Letrozole (Femara) with Gonal-F for IUI?

I haven't been on here in a LONG time, but I need some advice.

For my 5th IUI, my RE wants to do Letrozole days 3-5, and Gonal-F on days 5, 7, 9. I've never done Gonal-F before.....only the Letrozole for my 4 other IUIs, so I'm wondering what does adding Gonal-F to my protocol do? and has anyone else tried this combo?

Please help!

Thanks :)

I live in a state with no access to infertility specialists, how can I find the right doctor to help me?

My husband and I have been trying for baby #2 for almost three years. After having numerous tests done and being diagnosed with unexplained infertility, it took six IUI's (the last three with clomid) to get pregnant with our son. I have extremely regular periods, ovulate each month and husband's sperm analysis was fine. Living in a state with no fertility specialists, I am concerned my current doctor is not prepared to help. (I have been seeing this doctor for 2 years and am now looking for a new physician, realizing it is time to move on.) What should I ask my new doctor about his experience with infertility to establish whether he is right for me? If my cycles are normal, my tubes are open, my luteal phase appears fine -- what else should I be having checked?

What are the effects of smoking and coffee??

Hello,

My other half and I have been trying to conceive for over a year now and nothing has happened. I have had a number of blood tests done and we are waiting for him to be tested by our Doctor.

However, in the meantime I wanted to know whether the following would have a significant affect on our chances of conceiving naturally:

1. I smoke on average 3 - 10 cigarettes per day

2. He smokes on average around 15 cigarettes per day

3. I drink about 6 cups of coffee per day

4. He drinks about 10 cups of coffee per day.

I am 29 and my partner is 48 with three children from a previous relationship (aged 18, 16 and 3).

I am aware of some of the problems with conception and smoking and have decided to stop completely as from today (as has my partner). I haven't had a cup of coffee for three days now in an attempt to cut right down.

I look forward to hearing from you.

How would a consistently low blood platelett count effect conception?

My partner and I have been trying for a year or so with no success. My doctor has taken two or three sets of bloods and says that my blood platelett count is consistently low and that it needs further investigation. Could this be a reason why we have not be successful to date?

Effexor and infertility

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year. We recently had tests done and my husbands sperm count is really low 1 million/ml. He has been taking Effexor for the last three years and we are wondering if this could be having an effect on our ability to conceive?

New to all of this and curious about Clomid

My husband and I have just started trying for a baby. I have a history of VERY irregular periods - when I was a teenager, I had extremely heavy periods every 3 weeks to 3 months and the last time I was off the pill, I went 9 months without a period at all. My last day on the pill was June 12 and, not surprisingly, I have had no sign of a period since then. My doctor wants me to wait another month before coming in to see her. At that point, I'll probably go on Clomid.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is in the same position or has had this kind of situation in the past. Does anyone have any advice or thoughts? I'm just scared that I won't be able to get pregnant and I don't really know what's going to happen. Any advice on what to do, what questions to ask, what to expect, etc. would be appreciated! Thanks!

Treated chronic endocervicitis but suspect it again..

Four months back, I had a laparoscopy for infertility and besides other things, I was diagnosed with chronic endocervicitis. I had lots of thick vaginal mucus and cervix erosion. I was treated with antibiotics and within a month my cervix appeared healed on physical examination and the vaginal discharge was also absent. That was the first time I also observed EWCM around the ovulation day; earlier I used to have occasional thick white discharge all through the cycle.

Recently, the doctor again observed lots of yellowish mucus in vagina and the cervix was also red. She suspected infection and hence sent the vaginal swab for culture but the test report has come out to be normal indicating no infection. I am clueless about this whole thing... I also suspect that this thick mucus would not be letting sperms travel up to the tubes... Please suggest..

What is this endocervicitis? Is it possible to have it even if the path report rules out any infection? How can this be treated and what can be done to prevent it?

I know it's a long query but I'll be very thankful for replies..
