Thyroid Question

I was put on the generic version of Synthroid because I was diagnosed by my RE with "sub-clinical hypothyroidism". My TSH was 7.58 and my T4 or T3 was 1.6 and I was put on 75 mcg of Levothyroxine. The thing is that I have only been on it since Monday but now I have a weird sensation in my throat. Almost as if my thyroid is gripping my throat. I haven't had any other side effects other than this. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

TSH level

What is the normal TSH level for TTC?

My husband & I have been TTC for a year now and I have hypothryoidism. What is the normal TSH level for TTC? Do most general endocrinologist know what it is?

Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and Miscarriage

My DH and I are considering IVF w/ ICSI due to his 3% strict morphology and 4 failed IUI's. All of the tests for me are normal.

However I do have Hashimotos. My TSH, T4, T3 are all normal. I take 50mcg Synthroid daily. But of course my antibodies are sky high.

Does this put me at an increased risk for miscarriage? Besides thyroid level monitoring, is there anything else I should be doing to control my antibodies?

hashimoto's disease vs hypothyroidism

I was dx with hashimoto's about 2 years ago. I have been taking thyroid supplements and my TSH was <.1 on last check. I know that both of these can cause infertility issues but since mine is an autoimmune disorder, is there anything that I need to be doing to help with infertility?

over-replaced thyroid

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism several yeasr ago and prescribed Armour thyroid.

Two months ago my new endo (not an RE) switched me to Levoxyl even though my TSH and T4 levels were normal and I felt fine on the Armour because she says that "nobody" takes Armour anymore.

Now bloodwork done this week shows that on the Levoxyl my TSH os 0.1 and T4 is 2.7 - both which I understand to indicate that I am now over-replacing my thyroid. My Endo is cutting back the amount of Levoxyl I take, but I just finished a round of Clomid (prescribed by my OB to treat PCOS) today and now I am wondering if I should A)go back to the dose of Armour that was working fine before the endo started mucking about and/or B)not TTC after all this cycle because my hypothyroidism is no longer under control.

This is so frustrating!

hypothyroidism, BBT & ?preggo

I have been temping for several months. In prior months after ovulation, my temp would rise to around 98 and slightly above. This month several things changed---I am 8/9DPO/IUI (my first), had a HCG trigger on 2/3 so I know that I ovulated. My waking temps are ranging from around 97.7--I have had no change in sleeping habits, etc. I know that my endocrinologist has to adjust my thyroid med when I become preggo. My last thryoid panel in Oct. was normal. My question is would being preggo make my temps stay low unlike the months before?

Irregular ovulation, hypothyroidism

I am 26 and have 2 wonderful boys but am now having VERY irregular periods. I have never had irregular periods before - only since #2 was born in May of 2006. My periods since January have been 33 days, 44 days, 79 days, 72 days, 56 days and I'm currently on CD2.

I was diagnosed about 14 years ago with hypothyroidism and have been undergoing treatment since then. I have it checked regularly and have never experienced period changes like this before. I've been charting the last 2 cycles because my husband and I recently decided to start trying to conceive #3 and we wanted to figure out if I really am ovulating. I AM, but it's very irregular. I have a 14 day luteal phase so I know there is no problem on that end of my cycle. My question is this - my BBT is very low - not getting above 97.3 before ovulation and only getting to about 98.3 after ovulation. The coverline on my last 2 cycles was 97.3 and 97.2. I had my thyroid checked at the end of August and it was "within normal range." Is it possible that within normal range isn't really normal for me? I've done some research and have found that low BBT can be a sign that my thyroid is out of whack.... and could the thyroid be causing my irregular ovulation?

BBT

If I had a thyroid disorder , lets say hypotyroidism, could it be possible to get pregnant and not see really high BBTs? My temps the last 2 months have been somewhere between 96.8 -97.4, but now it has gone up to about 97.5 - 97.8, what does this mean? I have already passed ovulation. Does it sound like hypothyroidism? Along with really low temps, I also produce alot of EWCM amd have a very hard time losing weight. Thank you in advance!

Hypothyroidism

My question is not related to fertility but since u r endocrinologist I hope u could kindly answer my question. My mother age-53 is suffering from hypothyroidism for 10 years. The problem with her is if she takes higher doses like 100µg her pulse rate increase over 100/minute and TSH comes to 0.6-1 but when she takes 50µg TSH goes low like 200 but pulse rate is OK like 80.Now what should we do.Inbetween dosage of 75µg has also the problem of decreased TSH like 8 and increased pulse rate. How to solve this problem?Considering her age what are the risk involved in increased pulse rate? She is taking synthyroid.

Concerned about no monitoring on clomid

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I'm 31 and have been trying for baby #1 since Jan. 2006. My husband and I started seeing an RE in April of 07 and all tests came back normal for both of us (SA, HSG, FSH, progesterone). I am hypothyroid, but all my tests come back normal so I am on the right dosage of synthroid. I have never been pregnant, and my husband has never fathered a child.

I am in my third cycle of clomid. My RE gave me a prescription for 6 cycles of clomid and said to come back if it didn't work. I was a tad surprised that there would be no appointments in the middle, no monitoring of any kind. I have ovulated every month on my own prior to this, with cycles ranging from 33-42 days.

I find I am feeling side effects of clomid more each cycle. For the past few weeks I have had minor pressure/cramps continually - much like PMS cramps, but milder. Should I be concerned that there is no monitoring? I have read about the affect clomid has on cervical mucous - I am concerned that this may be happening to me, but I won't know until my 6 cycles are up.

My RE is very busy and is the only one within 8 hours driving, so switching isn't an option unless I'm willing to fly somewhere.

Any advice?
