hCG vs LH showing up on test strips

Docs:

I asked my OB/GYN this question and he was unable to respond.

Knowing that hCG and LH are "cousins", and that hCG can show up on OPK's, I'm wondering how long it would take for Ovidrel to enter the bloodstream and exit kidneys in high enough concentration to trigger a positive OPK?

That leads to another question. IF I were about to ovulate on my own and had a positive OPK, and I took an Ovidrel shot, would I still ovulate on my own, or would the Ovidrel kick in and delay my O till 36ish hours later?

Alright, final question: This month, I did Clomid 3-7 and Monday, I had a 20mm follie on my right side. Doc had me take my shot that night to prepare for IUI on Wednesday. I get how all that happens.

BUT, let's say I were doing this without the follie studies. I did not have a postive OPK till midday Wednesday (not sure if it was my LH or the Ovidrel showing up, hence the previous question)... I'd have called the doc the first day I had the positive OPK and had an IUI the next day, right? Does that mean that I would have naturally ovulated a day later than what I did with the Ovidrel shot (at least this month anyway)?

Thanks so much for answering my questions... we hopeful mommies sure do appreciate your expertise!

----

To everyone reading this, please hold your comments till after a doc responds. My question didn't get answered last time, and I'm guessing it's cuz someone else tried to answer the questions. Thank you bunches! :-)

question about HCG levels

Hello, I am 12dpo today, I took several pregnancy tests 3 different brands all came up positive the one's with the 2 lines the 2nd line was faint but def. there and I took a digital one that read "pregnancy" I had blood work done today and they called and said my quantitive was at 23 and my Porgesterone is at 10, and that quantitive is usually at 25 and they don't know if i'm pregnant, but my OB wasn't in and they would call me back tomorrow and let me know whats going on. What would cause my home pregnancy tests to all be positive, but my blood work to be so low? Could it be because I tested 2 days before my period was due or something else? Thanks

HCG shot combined with Femara

Hi Dr.,

I am currently on my 4th round of Femara and I had an u/s today which is CD 17 and I have been using opk's with no postive yet. I have one follicle that measured 16mm today and I am curious about getting the HCG shot. My RE told me it was up to me if I wanted the shot on Friday or to just wait it out and let mother nature take its course. I am very confused about what to do please give me your input on this my RE also said there has not been a study on HCG shots combined with Femara so I wanted to know if you have had any luck using the combo?

HCG injection

Dear Doctor,

Thank you in advance for your assistance. I took a series of 3 HCG injections in decreasing dosages prior to and following IUI. I am 13 days past insemination and testing faint positive on a ept this morning. Is it possible the HCG could be a cause of the positive test. The last smallest dose was 8 days ago. Thanks

What is pregnant and what is not

If you are getting BFPs on repeated HPTs (5 so far) and your first blood draw (at 13 DPO)came back with an HCG level of 5 and a second draw (at 14 DPO) came back at 9 only 24 hours later it seems the numbers ARE rising, how can one be told "you're not pregnant".

I have always read that anything from less than zero all the way up to 4 was NOT pregnant and anything 5 and up WAS pregnant. AND the numbers are rising.

could i be pregnant?

my domestic partner and myself have been trying to conceive for a few months now. This month we were very anxious to find out if we are pregnant yet as the process is becoming tiring and we are anxious to have our 2nd child. We took an at home pregnancy test it was positive although I have had a plethora of negative results. I know the pregnancy test was a dud though as my HCG level is only 1 and the test i took needed to have 20 to read it. I then called an OBGYN at KP and they ordered HCG Quantative test and a urine pregnancy test. The urine test came back negative and my blood test came back with an hcg level of ONE. Now I ovulated only 6 days ago, is it possible that I could still be pregnant, or that an HCG level of ONE is a rise from a normal HCG level?, or even that it could not yet be picked up as possibly implantation has not yet occured?

how soon can hcg show up?

Hey going to my doc for testing tomorrow (12dpo), he said if didnt show up wait a week. He said b/c implantation can take up to 12dpo. I started having sore nipples and fatigue yesterday but nothing else. I had cramping last friday too. I am on prometrium (9days) but the pharmicist said these probably arent side effects b/c the drug is in you systm in 3hrs, so he said if i was going to have symptoms i would have had them before now. Anyway heres hoping. baby dust and sticky glue to everyone. Oh yea how soon does it take hcg to get in urine or blood?

Low HCG level currently doing injectables

I am concerned I had my last cycle of clomid with my IUI on July 8th. Started my cycle on July 27th, very long cycle 36 days. Normally 28-29 for me. Took 4 preg tests all neg! Started injectables bravelle (150) July 29 cycle day 3-7 has first u/s b/w had 3 follicles range of 11-16. Notified dr I was still spotting light brown, so 2nd u/s b/w they ordered preg test. 5 follicles range from 12-16, got a call had a +hcg at a level of 28. What could this mean? Miscarriage? Never fully implanted? I have to go back in for bloodwork on Friday, not sure what to think! Any Suggestions

HCG Levels rise slower after 6 weeks?

Hello,

I've been having my blood levels checked every few days for the past couple of weeks (human pin cushion). Friday my HCG was 25,576 and today it was 48,227. I went in for an u/s yesterday (at 6w2d) and saw the heartbeat so I know all is ok. My question is, what is the normal rise of HCG once you are above 25,000? I read that it doubles every 96 hours as opposed to 48 - however mine didn't quite double over that span of time. I assume it's ok since I saw the HB which was 124 BPM but thought I'd double check. Thanks!
