Luveris and Gonal-F for poor responders, does it work?

Hi,

I am a "poor responder" and in an IUI/Mock IVF cycle I did Luveris injectibles along with my Gonal F. I always get only 4 follies - and my E2 usually is 139 highest. This cycle I had my 4 follies, but my E2 was over 500... that seems normal, isn't it??

So what can I assume does that mean - does it increase quality of eggs within the follies? Can I assume I finally have "good eggs"?? My husbands donation was 56,000 good swimmers on w 18's and 20 and a 16 mm folly.

First IUI with Gonal F

Hello Everyone!! Hope all is well with the babymaking here...just had a few questions! Well I have been TTC for 9 months now - with no success on our own we opted for to go to a Fertility Clinic. ME 29 no issues, DH 32 no issues.

I ovulate on my own but the doc had put me on Gonal F shots for this month (I refused to take Clomid due to the horrible side effect and wanted to go straight to injectables). First 6 days I took 75 dosage, then moved to 112 and then 150.

So here is how it stands as of right now: Dec. 22nd

1 Mature Follicle at 18mm

Many many follicles at 13mm

In about 8 hrs I will receive my HCG shot to trigger ovulation and Tues/Wed I will have my first IUI!! Very excited and nervous really hope it works. My question is - what will happen to all those 13mm follicles? Will i have a chance to get pregnant with those follicles as well or only with my 1 lead follice at 18mm??

Its been very hard the last few months as well since my father is very very sick (major heart / kidney) issues and he's only 64 yrs old...I've been trying not to stress bout anything but its hard and i feel all that stress is having an effect on me!!

Anyhow - anyone else's experiences?? I am sending everyone out there LOTS of babydust and GOOOOOD LUCK!!! :D

Femara with Gonal-F Injection

I have been TTC with PCOS for a little over a year. I have done one round of Femara 2.5mg with no response and one round of Clomid 50mg with no response. I went to the RE today and he wants to put me on Femara 2.5mg one pill starting on day 3, then 2 pills on day 4, and three pills on day 4. Then on day 6 he wants to start Gonal-F injections every other day. Has anyone tried this? He wanted to try this first because it is supposed to have a lower risk of multiples. That is a little bit of a concern to me but I would really just like to get to the baby dancing part. It is so frustrating to try and not even get to that part! Please let me know your experiences.

Thanks

Estrogen levels--what is normal & how important is it?

I had my CD10 scan yesterday. I took Femara 5mg on CD3-CD7, and Gonal-F 37.5 IU starting on CD7, and this will be my 2nd IUI. I have 2-3 follicles that are still maturing (13mm, 11mm, 9mm). My E2 was 86. This is my 3rd cycle w/ injections, and no one has ever mentioned my E2 level until now.

My RE said that E2 level actually better this time than ever, and that even when I had 5 mature follicles (last cycle), my E2 level was only in the 80 range. Because of this, she suspects that I had lower quality eggs in the previous cycle (which ended w/ a chemical preg).

My Gonal-F dose was lowered from 75 to 37.5 this cycle, and during the u/s my RE said thought that this was a mediocre cycle (w/ just 2 follicles), and that I should go back to the higher dose of Gonal-F. But, after she got my E2, she changed her tune and said that this is the best cycle I’ve ever had, and that I should stick w/ the 37.5 dose (even though it’s slow going).

Is Estrogen that important to a successful cycle? What is a ‘normal’ E2 level? Could this be part of my infertility problem?

Getting 'primed' from Gonal-F??

I'm starting my 3rd cycle with Gonal-F. I also take Femara. With my 1st cycle on Gonal-F, at 75 IU, I had just 1 mature follicle. The 2nd cycle I had 4 or 5 mature follicles, at the same dose (I also had an IUI, which was nearly canceled due to the # of follicles. Got BFP but was a chemical preg). So now it’s CD4 of my 3rd cycle, and my RE wants me to decrease the Gonal-F from 75 IU to 38.5 IU. She said that your body gets ‘primed’ and tends to have a better response with each cycle. Has anyone else found this to be true? I’m worried about getting a poor response at a lower dose, but I also don’t want to hyper-stimulate at the higher dose.

To all the ladies who have used injectable follicle stimulation hormones. Please Help!

I have a question. When is the soonest that anyone has produced mature follicles. My first cycle where I conceived the twins was 10 days at 112.5 iu Gonal F. Now, I am on 112.5 iu Gonal F plus Menopur. On am on CD 7-treatment day 5. I have just went to the bathroom and have EWCV. I am nervous. The doc told me to schedule for Friday or Saturday. I just don't want to miss this. How much impact do you think the Menopur will have? Thanks in advance.

Should I continue to test?

I was on meds this cycle and usually without meds (before I was on meds at all) I would ovulate on cd14 now since Ive been on the meds, I ovulate on cd16-19.

I did both Clomid 150mg and Gonal-f 150iu this cycle. When I went to the doctor I had too many follies so he didnt give me the HCG shot. Nor did we continue to the IUI.

Well Im on CD21 and still I have no +++ on my OPKs.

Could it be that Im not going to ovulate this cycle if i didt get the shot?

Should I continue to test on OPKs and BD every other day just in case I ever do ovulate?

I BD every other day starting CD9 and from CD15-19 everyday.

AF is due on the 13th, I have 31day cycles while on meds.
Question about mixing Gonal F/Menopur-Please Help!

The first time I was given instructions about injections, the nurse said to take the Menopur in the morning and Gonal F at night. Now, today, the nurse told me that the liquid that comes with the powder Menopur is just water and that I could mix the Gonal F and the menopur together and have one shot instead of two. Is this correct?

GOING HARD!!

So I went to the new doc 2day for b/w and u/s and we are going hard! Its funny cuz I will be taking MORE meds that with my IVF cycle and im only doing an IUI, lol.

I will be starting 2moro and taking 175 of menopure (I took 75 with IVF) and 300 of gonal-f and I think I 225 with the IVF.

She knows that I don’t want to play around and she is on board! Yeah! I don’t have any cysts so I will be fine to start the meds 2moro night. Im switching to Gonal-F cuz my insurance pays more for that medication than the Follistim.

I wont be going back until next Monday for u/s and b/w and then hopefully trigger soon after that. I am hoping that this will do the trick cuz I am surely running out of steam with this TTC bullsh*t!

To all our astonishment, my ovaries are hypher simulated and my IUI was scheduled on CD 10.

On Sep 30, went in for progesterone BW and the numbers are 16. RE wants me to use the Crione 8% cream once every morning.

Hoping I am almost there girls... Wish me Baby luck and lots and lots of baby dust to you all

It is nice to have found this website cause sometimes, not everyone can understand what we are going through...

Finally, Nikki's Journey

Hey guys. I've been waiting to post because I have had such a rough life. I got pregnant when I was fourteen. My daughter died at 2 1/2 months due to SIDS. Even though I was young, I urned for another baby so bad that I got pregnant purposely right away. I had my son when I was sixteen. When he was 18 months, my mother was watching him while I worked and went to school. My mother had recently had a baby as well (wow!). He was five months older than my son. Anyway, one day when I was at work, the Sheriff's Deputy came to my job and said that something was wrong with my son but wouldn't tell me what. He rushed me to the hospital and all the while, I had a horrible feeling. When I got there, my son and my brother were hooked up to all sorts of monitors. They were rushed to the nearest children's hospital 45 mins away. They were basically keeping them alive so that we could have more time with them. What my mom told me was that she fell asleep and the boys got out and heading next door to where my step-brother was digging a septic tank. They either jumped or fell in. My mother reports that she woke up and looked for them and found them floating in the water. She performed CPR until the ambulance arrived. How could this have happened to me again. Well, that was enough for me. I finished high school and went on to college where I finished at the top of my class. During my senior year (in college) I gave birth to my son who was born during spring break. I came back with the rest of the kids and no one was the wiser. So now on to the present. I tried conceiving, starting when my son was 2. I tried for four years before I went to my OBGYN. She put me on clomid for 5 months (50-150 mg). Nothing worked and I told her I was ready to move on. I saw an RE who told me within 5 minutes what was wrong. I was ovulating but not producing any mature follicles. He put me on gonal f with intercourse only and I became pregnant with twins in March 2008. I carried for 4 months a lost my two boys. Am I not one of the unluckiest people you've ever met? What did I do to deserve this? I go to church and I am a good person? How can God justify this? I work in foster care and it seems that the people who shouldn't have kids can have any many as they want, whenever they want. Why me Lord? Maybe having another child is not what he has in store. I wish he would relay the message to me so I would stop trying. If he is trying to tell me something, I have tried to be quiet and listen and haven't heard anything. I wish he would send me a sign. Anyway, I had a period 5 weeks after the miscarriage and did one month of birth control pills. This time wasn't as easy. No luck. AF came last Saturday. I talked to the doctor about IUI and he said because of DH stress of having to perform on demand, it usually doesn't make a difference unless you have sperm motility problems. So, I am on day 5 of birth control pills. He will try mixing gonal f with menopur next time. I hope this works. I really don't know how much more of this I can take.

Thanks ladies for all of your support. You don't know how much it means to me to have found this community. You guys are GREAT!

My doc seems optomistic but I am unsure. I had my ultrasound and he could not even find one folical is this normal for your first cycle? Sorry for so many questions and help would be appreciated.

Amanda
