Questions regarding Glucose Tolerance Testing and PCOS

Dr. Q or the ladies who have PCOS:

I had 2 hr Glucose Tolerance and these were my results:

Fasting: 72

1HR: 173

2HR: 200

From what my doc is telling I am pre-diabetic and that this is due to my PCOS. I have never had this testing done before and I thought I was I was okay since I had sugar level tested six years after fasting. MY first 2 tests were normal. It's the 2hr test that is on the higher side. Does this mean that I am insulin resistant? If I am insulin resistant, would clomid even work? I guess I am asking because 150mg of clomid actually worked and I had two mature follicles. I have never been on metformin and it looks like I have to start. How does Metformin work with IVF? Is it safe to take while pregnant? How about safety while breastfeeding?

I would love to hear from the doctors and the ladies that may had similar experience...any thoughts and answers would be greatly appreciated!

Signs of sugar in urine.

I recently visited my Gino, she told me that there's been a trace of sugar in my urine. I've done a Glucose blood test, still waiting for the results. Will this mean i will be diabetic for the rest of my live or is it just during pregnancy? I'm 6 months along. I'm worried about it.

Is there some relation somewhere between migraines and blood sugar?

I woke up this morning with a migraine, and all day my sugar levels have been higher than normal. (Still within a healthy range, but significantly higher than usualy)

Is there some reason maybe the two might correspond? Or just a coincidence?

Is it true that drinking a lot of water can help stabalize glucose levels?

My dad told me that drinking tons of water will help keep my glucose levels normal. (due to the gestational diabetes)

I've never heard anything like this before... is this something he heard thats not true.. or is there some truth in it?

Glucose Screen results are in... what happens now?

My doctor said that my "levels were elevated" after my 1 hour glucose screen. (I'm assuming that means my sugar levels)

I am going in tomorrow morning for my 3 hour glucose screen. What can I expect if my levels are still elevated?

I'm scared to death I'm going to have to test my blood sugar.. I don't think I have the guts to poke myself!!!

Blacking out during GTT

Dr Q, I had my 3 hr GTT today and everything was ok the 1st one hr after I took the 100 g of Dextrose.

After about 1.5 hrs, I started getting very nauses and restless and as I was telling this to the lab tech, I started blacking out and lost my footing though I didnt faint per se or fall down. Then they made me lie down on the bed for sometime and I was ok in 15 mins.

My question will this type of incident hurt the baby?

Is this because the sugar level increased a lot or because too much insulin lowered my sugar levels?

Any advise appreciated. Thanks as always

Baby's weight Fact or Myth

Dr Q Is there a correlation between excreting sugar in the U and baby's weight? I have heard so many tell me that if the mom has higher than normal blood sugar levels, then the baby's weight will be on the higher end of the scale. Is this true ? Esp when not diabetic but sugar in the Urine sample? Sorry to bother you with so many questions..This will be my last for the week hmm or rather until I have my next appt. Thanks!

Well got my blood work back.......... :(

The only level she gave me was my Progesterone and my Glucose, my FSH and Prolactin were normal. My glucose was high but not too high she said 106 and the normal is between 60 some and 99 so its just slightly elevated so she wasn't worried about that and I was not told I was supposed to fast before the test and I had been drinking a little bit of pop before I had the blood taken but I had not eaten yet. My progesterone was only 1.51 on CD 21 which means I have not ovulated yet and my cycles are usually 21 to 22 days long so this cycle is almost over and I have not ovulated which I pretty much already knew.

I talked to the nurse since my doctor was not in the office today and will not be until Thursday. I have to wait for my doctor to call me on Thursday to discuss the clomid and I'm scared she isn't going to prescribe it for me since they said my progesterone was normal. So its another waiting game and praying to god I make it until Thursday before my next cycle starts so I can take the clomid when she wants me to.

I'm kinda down about this because I was sure I had ovulated but I guess not.
