I'm READY already

I'm 27 and DH and I are ready for a baby. We just started trying. I have PCOS and have been trying to get my symptoms under control for quite some time in order to be as healthy as possible for pregnancy. I'm happy to say that I'm FINALLY at a healthy weight and my PCOS seems to be fading in the background a bit. I take 1000mg of GlucophageXR (Metformin) as well as prenatal vitamins. I found out not too long ago that they're fairly sure I'm now ovulating. I scored an 8.8 on my day 21 progesterone test. Now, I'm trying to pinpoint how long my luteal phase is in hopes that it's longer than 10 days. I'm pretty sure last month was only 9 days.

I love that there's a site like this for women. What a wonderful support network.

Dr put me on clomid and glucophage.

After waisting a year at a dr without any progress i decided to see a new gynaecologist. Immediately she ran bloodtests, did a papsmear, went for ultrasound and gave me some medication. I am now on glucophage for 4 days so far and will start with clomid in 2 days time. What will my chances be of conceiving. TTC for 2 years now. It really gets one down at times to keep on trying but nothing happens. I need some positive feedback and motivation.

Thank you and hope to get a quick reply about this.

We're at peace...taking a break

Hey you guys. Just wanted to let you know jack and i are taking a break from TTC baby #2. We've been trying for 2 1/2 years now, and have been on Clomid, Femara, Glucophage, and Prometrium. As a lot of you know we've lost 2 over that time.

We finished our last round of Femara in April and i got my period last week. Althought we'd be thrilled to have another still, we feel like God's given us a total peace about it, and we know we'll be okay if we don't have another. We feel totally blessed with our daughter, Savannah, who will be 5 in a few months, and heading off to Kindergarten!!! We can hardly believe it!

We'd talked about IUI in the past, but just feel like its not right for us. I'm not getting back on birth control or anything...we're just letting it "be" for a while. We're taking a break from testing, tracking, meds--the whole game. Believe me, i'm ready to forget about it for a while! It can be a headache trying to keep up with it all--you guys know :)

Anyway, just wanted to let you know what was going on. I know i haven't posted mcuh lately--honestly there just hasn't been much to tell, so i've kind'a been layin low. But i'm actually doing okay with it all. God has given me a peace about it that i didn't have even six months ago.

Thank you for all of your support the past 2 1/2 years. I will be on from time to time to check up on you all, and let you know of any news that may come to be :)

How big do follicles need to be for trigger shot?

My LMP was 4/30 and I started Clomid 100mg CD 5-9. Today is CD 12 and I had ultrasound done... 4 5mm follicles on left and 15.5mm and 12mm on right. I have to go back for another u/s on Wednesday (CD 14) and they will let me know when I have to give myself HCG shot (Ovidrel).

How big do the follicles need to be in order for the RE to ok the shot?

What chances for conceiving are there with a 15.5mm and 12mm follicle on CD 12?

I am also on 1500mg Metformin. PCOS and IR. 24 y/o.

Thank You!

Trying to conceive.

Hi, my husband and I have been trying to conceive for around 2 years now with no luck. I went to the Dr. and found out I have PCOS so she put me on Glucophage. After my husband gave a good sperm analysis she was going to also put me on Clomid.

I've been on Glucophage for exactly a month and I have't had a period. (they are irregular, I get 3-8 a year) But should Glucophage regulate me?

Since I didn't have a period on Glucophage is it not working? Or is there a chance I'm pregnant?

Could it be?

I had a tubal reversal in April, 07 and we still have not gotten pregnant. I have only one tube and one ovary. We were resigned to the fact it was lack of tube function and are praying about doing a round of IVF. I had a check up with our new family doc and he said "I think I know why you aren't getting pregnant: insulin resistance". So I am going back next week to talk about starting glucophage and diet and exercise.

He wants us to try this for 3-4 months before we make an IVF decision...So we are praying this is God opening a door.

Please pray for us! I am excited for the first time in months about ttc!

Metformin During Pregnancy

Dr. Q- Im wondering your professional opinion on the metformin during pregnancy.

I am 12 weeks today- and the docs say to stop the metformin tomorrow- and Im having an early GTT (1hr) next week as per the MFM's reccomendation. The MFM said that there is NO real data to prove that metformin is harmful, or beneficial- and that it is on a patient to patient basis.

Im scared to death to sop taking something that I feel like has helped sustain this pregnancy- I feel like if things are working, why just stop to see what happens? He also mentioned that there is a "2nd generation" glucophage that is called glyberide- sp? Which he would reccomend starting if the GTT comes bad positive, or high.

I am also stopping the provera and estrodion vaginally tomorrow- please can you tell me your opinions on all of this- I feel like Im stopping everything that I have convinced myself is a security net until now...

I need some reassurance and guidance.. Ladies if you have experience, please weigh in...

Many thanks...

Glucophage

I have been trying (or wanting to try) for a year now. I have not been having a period (ovulating) since stopping birthcontrol May 2007. After many doctors appointments and several tests I was fianly diagnosed with PCOS.

I started Provera and have finally received a period. My docotor has prescribed clomid and gucophage. I start clomid on Wednesday (4/30/08). I am very very very excited! They are starting me on 50mg.

I am a little concerned about starting the glucophage. My lab work came back "normal" for bloodsugar. My OBGYN says it will still be okay to start glucophage... but if my sugar levels are normal will the glucophage drop my blood sugar too low?

I am just so excited and want to do everything right :)

Thanks,

Rachie

Two follicles

I am on Clomid (3-7) and glucophage. I went on day 12 of my cycle to have a sono. The dr said I have two follicles, one on each ovary. The right side was 21 and the left side was 29. Is there a chance of both of them ovulating or do the follicles have to be on the same side? Plus are they both large enough to ovulate? Thanks!
