My doc said she couldn't because my GBS came back positive and she can't risk doing something that might accidentally break my amniotic sac. I was told that I will be treated with IV antibiotics when I go on labor. I'm currently 3 cm dilated and 75% effaced. My doc told me that I'm progressing and that she's hoping that I will go on labor anytime this week. If I still am pregnant until my appointment next week, I will be scheduled for an induction. I understand that as long as the baby is still within the amniotic sac, she will be safe from the Group B Strep...but my concern is--what if my water bag breaks before I get treated for it through IV, will my baby get infected?
