Is Vitex safe? Does it help progesterone levels?

When searching for comments on Fertilaid, I found a couple of women who said Vitex was also effective in regulating cycles and progesterone levels. Is it safe and will it help regulate my cycles with PCOS?

We are Finally Pregnant!

Our journey started back in September of 2008. We had been married a month, and knew right away that we wanted a baby within the year. After getting hired at a job where I had health insurance, we decided to discontinue the use of our birth control pills and get pregnant!

It wasn't that easy.... For the first 3 months, I was convinced every week or so that I was finally pregnant. But truth be told, I never had a period after going off of birth control, and when negative pregnancy tests (including bloodwork) told me that I wasn't pregnant....I knew there was a problem.

I went to an OBGYN in December of 2008. He put me on Provera to jump-start my period, and told me to start taking Metformin. This was in hopes that my body would regulate itself and my periods would start being regular again.

No period came. I wasn't ovulating. We tried a cycle of 50mg of clomid with no success. We tried 100mg. No success. At 150mg my Dr. told me that if my follicles were large enough, that he would give me a trigger shot to make me ovulate. But when I went in on Day 12 for my follicle check, my largest one was 12mm long, and my doctor cancelled the trigger, saying there was no way I'd get one mature enough in time to ovulate.

So we were in a pickle. I wasn't feeling very confident with the OBGYN we'd been using...I felt like I had to coach him along and convince him to try new things every step of the way. We decided it was time to go to an RE. This was tough choice for us, since the closest RE was 2 hours away, and our insurance didn't cover appointments there.

We thought long and hard, and after canceling, rescheduling, canceling, and re-re-scheduling, we finally decided that it was too soon to go to an RE. So we cancelled again.

In the meantime, my husband had been taking FertilAid for men, and I'd been taking FertilAid for women.

That week, I was at lunch with an old roommate, discussing my TTC despair....and she mentioned that her OBGYN had helped her fix some problems she'd been having with the Depo shot. So she recommended him to me. I went, and he decided to try putting me on birth control again with a high dose of Metformin to see if my cycles would catch on and regulate on their own.

Before I started the Birth Control pills again, I decided it would be wise to take a cheap dollar store pregnancy test and just make sure I wasn't already pregnant. Knowing my chances were slim to none, you can imagine my shock when I noticed a VERY faint line right before the time limit was up on the HPT. I didn't believe it. In fact, I almost threw it away. But since I'd never had anything even vaguely resembling a line....even an evap line...on a pregnancy test, I decided I better hang onto it.

After showing my DH and then posting a picture online here at FertilityTies, people were telling me that they saw a line too. I remained unconvinced....but the next morning I took another HPT and saw a faint line once again. So I called the doctor, had him order me a beta, and I went and got my blood drawn.

Still unconvinced, I went 5 hours later to pick up my results. When I read the words "POSITIVE" and saw that my number was at 37 (over 5 is considered positive), I didn't believe my eyes. I went into the lab again and asked the receptionist if I was reading the results right! She laughed, and said, "Yep, that's the number."

Wow. Just wow. It was TRULY a miracle. After months of trying, waiting, wishing, and endless praying...and after cycles of side-effect ridden Clomid and gut-wrenching Metformin....I was pregnant. And I'm still not sure how!

FertilityTies, along my journey has kept me sane. There were times I thought I was going to go crazy or just fall into the depths of depression and despair. FertiliyTies is a community of friends and you always feel supported and understood here.

Good luck on your journey to becoming a parent! May God bless you to have a very SHORT stay in this world of infertility and move on quickly to the world of parenthood. :) It's much happier here.

Can I take FertilAid with Femara/Bravelle???

CD2 today and I just ordered some FertilAid. The reviews sound great! I have PCOS and am also on Metformin. Going to be taking Femara 5mg days 3-7, and Bravelle 75u days 6,8,10. Just wondering if it is okay to take FertilAid with these meds? I know there are varying opinions, but just want to know what you all think and why?

Thanks so much!! :-)

Thinking of trying fertilaid, any thoughts or experiences on it?

I have been on clomid off and on for about two years, and I know the next thing is injection. I am holding off on that for a few months because my life is so razy busy that I can not stress right now anymore than I have about meds. Not to mention I am on a diet to loose some weight before my friends wedding next month.

I was thinking of trying fertilaid, but would love to know of anyone who had experience with it. It is always helpful to hear from others who have done something so that you have an idea of what to maybe expect. Before the clomis my periods were crazy out of control, and while on it I had mantained a pretty regular cycle, howerever I have not shown to o on my own so I am wanting to try a natural approach.

Can any of you ladies shine some light on this for me? You thoughts and responce is GREATLY appreciated☺☺

BABY DUST

I Think I'm Finally Pregnant!!!!!

So, I took three pregnancy tests today and they all came up positive!!! Thank God!!!! I am so excited. I'm going to call and get a Dr.'s appointment tomorrow! It has been so long and so frustrating and so heartbreaking .... my husband and I are so excited now! We tried FertilAid for men, which did not work for us. I don't really know if this actually had anything to do with it, but I bought two fertility stones (a set for me and a set for my husband) from a local palm reader and now it's finally happened! I could not be more excited!!!!!!! Whatever it was, we couldn't be happier! :D

Are there any vitamins or supplements that help with infertility?

Someone recomended that I take selenium, a mineral? When I looked it up on line, it said it improved male fertiliy. Do you have any suggestions?

Fertilaid and Ovulation

Hi, I recently wrote to you about Fertilaid and thought it caused me to not ovulate this month. Well, I am currently 4 days late for my period. I took a test 2 days ago and don't think I'm pregnant. My question is.. If i didn't ovulate, will I still get my period or should I make a doctor's appointment?

Thanks

Blepharophimosis-ptosis-epicanthus-inversus type 1 and infertility

I have the above genetic diagnosis and have no cycles at all but my body feels like it needs to. Is there anything I can take to try and regulate cycles or try to induce ovulation besides clomid? I only have a cycle like once or twice a year. The doctor I was seeing said the he thought I had gone through premature menopause, but then about six months later, I had a full blown cycle. Is Fertilaid a good option to try or is there something you could recommend?

Can FertilAid cause changes in your cycle?

I started taking fertilaid for women this month. I've always have been pretty regular when it comes to ovulating and my cycle. I also use the clearblue easy fertility monitor to know when I'm ovulating. This month it has shown me all low days. I just read a few reviews about fertilaid from women who seem to have had the same problem. It looks like it's caused me not to ovulate when i was supposed to..

I stopped taking them as of 2 days ago. Why do you think this happened? Why are these pills on the market if they cause interuptions of your cycle?

Can i take metformin and FertilAid at the same time?

Hello,

The doctor just prescribed me metformin today to help me ovulate. My husband and i have been trying to conceive for about a year now.
Male Infertility and fertell tests

My husband and I ordered the Fertell tests and took them. Mine was great, but it turns out he has a problem with his sperm. I ordered FertilAid for Men and he's almost taken one whole bottle - no pregnancy so far. One lady on the FertilAid website said her husband took the FertilAid with Vitamin C, so I bought some of that today so he can start taking it. I honestly don't know a whole lot about fertility treatments and drugs to take...but I was wondering if anyone knew if - even though there is nothing wrong with me- I take Clomid it would help us get pregnant? I've been taking prenatal vitamins for a year ... but that's it. I'm just curious. I'm trying to find answers. I'm 25 and he's about 10 years older. I'm hoping to find something to help us conceive. :(

FertilAid and Clomid combined. Good Idea or Bad?

Hello Ladies,

I need some help.

I read that Clomid only has a 22% success rate when used alone, and a 27% success rate when combined with metformin. I have taken metformin already (by itself)and HATED it! I am set to start taking FertilAid in Jan 09 after we get the last results back for me and DH. I was thinking that since FertilAid boasts to be all natural that it couldn't hurt taking it with Clomid (which I would have started if FertilAid didn't work). My husband is concerned with side effects and I guess I wanted a female opinion on it. Any help would be great. I was diagnosed with PCOS 12yrs ago - so I have an uphill battle ahead. I have been ttc for 18months now. I want this and I feel ok with taking the two together. If Anyone has taken either product and can share some info on what to expect I would be greatful!

Fertilaid

For women who are trying to conceive, hormonal balance is important for regular ovulation, for the maturation of the ovarian follicle and the healthy development of reproductive tissues in the uterus (to prepare for implantation of the egg).

FertilAid for Women is designed to provide key vitamins and herbal nutrients to support fertility and reproductive wellness, and increase your chances of conceiving.

FertilAid for Women is the only fertility supplement that gently balances “fertility-enhancing” herbal nutrients (including vitex) with a “Just Right” formula of key vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

The formula is based on established scientific research.

Unlike other products,

FertilAid offers complete vitamin and antioxidant support – the same critical ingredients in a prenatal vitamin. Studies indicate that preconceptional multivitamin support may enhance fertility*.

Only FertilAid provides complete vitamin support; no need to buy an additional prenatal supplement while you are trying-to-conceive!
