Gestational Diabetes Throughout Entire Pregnancy?

Did any of you ever have gestational diabetes throughout your entire pregnancy (or close to it)?

Because of my family history of diabetes and the fact that I was diagnosed pre-diabetic before my pregnancy, they had me do a 1 hour glucose screen at my appointment on Friday. I just got a call from the nurse that I "failed" my 1 hour screen (was supposed to be under 139 and mine came back at 148), so I have to go in on Saturday and do a 3 hour test to determine if I have gestational diabetes (already). I don't mind drinking the drink (I actually kind of like it), but I am not looking forward to being poked a million times and having to sit in the lab for 3 hours straight. Oh well though, my mom is coming with to keep me company.

If the test comes back that I do have gestational diabetes (I'm only 7 weeks 4 days today), what will happen?

hi doctor,

i have been recently diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic at the age of 29, going to be 31 soon. have been ttc for nov 06. went through all the test, all came back great. was on clomid 3 times, great floicles- no pregnancy, tryed SOIUI-no pregnancy, now going for ivf. a few times a year i get irregular bleeding between periods, and sometimes it lasts for 2 weeks. when my doc does testing, nothing shows up and says its normal once in a while to have a period out of whack.

my question is, do you think i would be a good canadaite for ivf? giving that I am a type 1 diabetic, is there any percations to take? thanks doc in advance!

Regards

Stephanie

Pregnancy weight gain how much is too much?

Hi, I am currently 15W5D pregnant and at my prenatal appointment today I weighed in at 166 lbs. The thing that is freaking me out is that 5 weeks ago I was about 153lbs and 5 weeks before that I was 150lbs. The first two times I was weighed they used a different scale than today. My question is, is it even possible that I have actually gained 13 pounds in 5 weeks? I do not look like I have gained much other than in belly and boobs to myself or anyone else.

I am 5'3" and I am about a 34D in bra size. I have noticed that my breasts are heavier, but they also seemed this way at my last prenatal.

I am also worried about gestational diabetes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How likely is gestational diabetes with second child?

I never had it with #1. I'm 17 wks with #2. Just curious what the odds were with having it the second time around. I've noticed I've been very thirsty this whole pregnancy..and know that is a sign. Typically, when would signs like that start if you did develop it?

Thanks!

Husband with type 2 diabetes, possible retrogade ejaculation?

Husband has type 2 diabetes and after much research on my part I believe he is having retrogade ejaculation, family doctor keeps telling us its just stress but we are no more stressed now than we were before we became pregnant with our son prior to his diabetes. The question is what type of doctor should we consult to help us figure all this out? Is there ways of retrieving sperm from the bladder if this is happening? Is it possible for us to conceive even with very little semen upon ejaculation? Thank you for your time, it is appreciated :)

Starting Metformin

Hi all. I've been trying since last year to get pregnant. I tried Provera twice and the first time i only got in one month. The second time i tried it, i got it for two months. But once again, my periods have stop coming. About two months ago i went to a family doctor because i hadn't been feeling well and he diagnosed me with Diabetes. big reality check for me! Anyhow, I went back to my gynecologist and i had an ultrasound done, blood checked and the whole works. She said my hormone levels are good, No cysts of any type, my ultrasound came out great and I have slight diabetes. so she said I have POS.

She has prescribed Glucophage for me which is Metformin. I've been reading up on it, and it seems that the side effects are bad. She told me to start with 3 500mg a day and if i got sick, then i should go to 2 a day. Any suggestions on how i should start? Also, what are my chances in getting pregnant?? She prescrived me for four months. Is that long enough to know if it's going to work? Sorry so long!

Gestational Diabetes test...

My ob called and said my blood was ok, but the other part was abnormal so they are sending me for the 3 hour test tomorrow..

What exactly do they look for in this test (both the 1 hr and the 3 hour)?

I just cant stop crying over this, since the ob feels I am more at a risk for having it since diabetes is common in my family and even in my dh's.
