pregnant again

My friend just had a baby three weeks ago. Her boyfriend and her just now started to try and have sex again and he came in her. She wanted to know if it was possible if she was pregnant again, and if there was anything other than birth control and condoms that would help prevent her from getting pregnant.

What kind of Cysts Do Birth Control Pills Fix?

I am taking birth control for 6 months as per my RE...I am trying to figure out why? She says to shrink the cysts...but as far as I've read bcp's just mask PCOS not fix it...

Missing Period and Spotting?!?!

Hi Dr.

I've been on Solia birth control for the past months. This week (starting Monday) I was supposed to get my period, I'm on the sugar pills right now. I got spotting one night while my boyfriend and I were having sex, it didn't last more than that one spot. I took a pregnancy test and it did come out negative (but I also took it late at night and heard that isn't the best way to do it either, so we're planning on taking another one at the end of this week). Last night my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex while I'm on the sugar pills, is that OK? Or is it recommended to use a condom while only taking sugar pills? Also, I got brown spotting this morning. What is physically happening to my body now that I'm supposed to be getting my period and not?

twins

Dr.,

I have read that the chances of twins is a bit greater just after stopping birth control pills. Is this true, and if true does this likelyhood last a few cycles or just the first cycle off birth control?

ok, so as most know I had a miscarraige on 10/24. Still haven't gotten a regular cycle, my ob said he wanted to start me back on clomid even without a cycle first, he had given me a few days to think about it and decide, and also to see if i would get af on my own... well i went back in for my appt today and he told me the complete opposite! He told me the NEW PLAN... he wants to put me on Nikon birth control pills,, super strong birth control for 2 months, then immediately after my 2nd cycle he is going to give me injections to start the ttc process faster.. he said they were called beta hcg injections.. (ANYONE HEARD OF THIS?) is it like iui? I am completely lost and confused about the whole thing. I wanted to try another round of clomid go up to 100 since I was only on 50 and got pg with that, but miscarried, but now he wants to do birth control pills... i dont know what to think... any thoughts, any ideas, any comments, any advice.. .anyone?????

fertility

so i was on the quasense birth control, the cheap version of seasonal i think its called? anyway when i was on it i wasn't supposed to have a period for 3 months, but i spotted about 2 months of it, when i called my doctor to ask she said my body just had to get used to it but i was almost done with my 3 months, then i got to the pink bills and had a normal cycle, then went back on it for about a month in a half and my husband and i decided we wanted to have a baby so i went off of it then cuz i started bleeding a little then i had a normal cycle but horrible cramps. but now i'm waiting for my period for the end of november, and my husband and i are having sex everynight (we really want a baby) but since i was bleeding on the pill is there anything to worry about? my doctor didn't even contact me back when she said she would and i never got a hold of her, i wasn't happy with her at all, and i don't know what to expect?

Dr Q.........How can I skip AF when using a triphasic birth control pill?

I'm going on a cruise next Sunday (23rd) and it will be my AF week. I'm currently on Ortho Tri Cyclin and am wondering if I could skip my period by not taking the placebo pills. I was searching the internet, but like so many other things there is so much info and not sure what is the most accurate.

Dr Q please help me! Can I start taking birth control pills?

Hi Dr! I was on lupron depot for 3 months for endometriosis. 4 weeks after my last shot, I took provera to bring on a period. Well today is 17 days since my last pill. No spotting or bleeding at all. I'm so anxious to start. I heard about patients starting the pill for two weeks after lupron to get their period to start. Can I do this? Is this safe? I want to start trying again so badly and start taking clomid! HELP!! Thank you!!

PCOS, Birth Control, IUD....Dr. Q?

Ok I was just talking to my husband and he brought up a very valid point. Im actually shocked he paid attention to this in the first place.

So with PCOS birth control, controls the cysts right? Thats why I was told I lose weight when im on the birth control, but once I get off thats the reason I gain weight.

So what about the IUD, I know its a form of birth control but does it release whatever is needed to control the PCOS?

I wanted to do the IUD after im totally done breastfeeding when Noah gets here, but hubby said is that going to help your PCOS?

Im going to do the mini pill while breastfeeding, does that help any? I dont mind getting on Ortho Low again after im done breastfeeding but thought IUD would be easier, but if it doesnt help my PCOS I dont want to do that, and would rather be on the pill.

Thanks so much, and is there any specific pill thats best for the PCOS?

My first IVF/ICSI Cycle...

Hi ladies,

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted. I've been busy gearing up for my first IVF cycle (gosh, I still can't believe that's what we're doing). I plan to pick up all of my meds this weekend, but I've been reading all of the materials my nurse gave me and just sort of trying to prepare for it all mentally. I'm getting more nervous as I get closer to the injections. Am I *really* going to be able to do it?? My husband and I did sign up for the class that Shady my RE offers, but I just know I'm going to freak out the first time or two. My husband is very supportive (thankfully) and has offered to do whatever he can to help, which is good.

I started my birth control pills this morning. I'm supposed to take them for 21 days, but I'll also begun Lupron on Day 18, I think (don't have my protocol in front of me).

You'll laugh, but I've never taken birth control pills before (never felt comfortable messing with my hormones unnecessarily), so I freaked out a little this morning after I swallowed my pill. Silly, I know. I'm generally anxious about taking meds, so this isn't unusual for me. Now I know that BCPs won't kill me! Now, if I could only think that way for my Gonal-F and Follistim shots...

I just have to keep telling myself that we have a decent shot at this working for us, and that if I'm lucky, I won't ever have to take all these meds again! Wish me luck.

OK, that's the latest. If all goes well, I'm looking at an embryo transfer on Dec. 9, which happens to be my birthday. :)

I hope everyone is doing well.

Thanks for reading,

Christine

Dr. Q starting the pill/ not starting the pill

Hi Dr. Q! Hope you had a great birthday. I told you a while back about my husband and I possibly going to Mexico for Thanksgiving. Well we are and I don't want to get pregnant and go there. Anyway... I'm still waiting for my period to start from provera. Today is 3 days post. You say clomid may not work right away from lupron so is ok if I take the pill for one month the month of November? Will it mess up my system? Will I have a good chance of conceiving when I get off the pill? I know sometimes the pill doesn't provide protection in the first month, but I will abstain. Thanks so much!!!

Birth control pills?

Hi doctor,

I'm about to begin my first IVF/ICSI cycle, and I'm supposed to begin BCPs for 21 days. I've never taken BCPS, so I want to know if there are any common side effects? I read all of the scary side effects written on the prescription, but I'm not sure how concerned I should be. I'm almost 36 years old and I don't smoke (never have) and have no known health conditions. Am I at risk for anything while on these pills?

Thanks so much!

Does going on the pill make any sense?

I am late again with another BFN, some mild pressure/pain in my left overy though. Either I did not O &/or I have a cycst again. Going to the Dr later this morning for BW to confirm BFN & begin provera. Also to discuss the possibility of my having PCOS. I have been reading alot about it recently & I seem to have some of the symptoms. I was checked for it years ago & my BW was "borderline", whatever that means. I am just going to bring it up to see what they say.

Anyway, I am thinking of asking them to put me back on BC for the next 2 or 3 months. I am still trying to reach my weight goal & even though I do pretty well with my eating I tend to slack & avoid exercise which is getting me nowhere. I feel paranoid to exercise while TTC/not using protection- always worried that I "might be O'ing" or "what if I'm PG", ect...and then I stop working out. Thinking maybe I will be able to really focus on the weight loss with out the worries.

Anyway, just wanted some opinions & sorry so long, lol!

Strange!!!

We're starting our ivf process on NOv. 4th. On CD 4 I had my 3-day labs done and then they started me on birth control pills. A couple of days ago I started getting brownish discharge, and just a couple of hours ago, I got red...bright red! I'm only on CD 18 and I'm on birth control pills, so I'm not even suppose to get af. What is going on?

I need help! Please advise me. (lupron, birth control pills, clomid)

I have moderate to severe endometriosis and PCOS. I got pregnant accidentally with my first child which was a blessing!! Since her birth we wanted another baby and were unable to get pregnant. A laparscopy and 3 lupron shots later I'm deciding if I'm really ready for the second child. I have an appointment with my doctor in a few weeks. His plan was to start me on clomid once I started menstruating again after lupron. But I think I want to hold off until after the new year. Can I go back on Ovcon 35 once I start menstruating again for several months? My fear is if I do this, the endo will grow back again and I won't be able to conceive right away when I'm really ready! I don't want to decide that "it's time" than find out after a year has gone by after trying its not working out. What is my best option? THank you so much!!

-Confused!!

To start ivf. my nurse told me that she was going to call me with results from blood work and see if i was ready to start b/c pills so like around 3:00 she called and she said everything looks good and i was ready to start the b/c pills that she had givin me earlier. so my question is theres 1blister card of 28 tablets theres 21 white pills and 7 brown. but im only supposed to take them for 21days so i have 7 left but they are brown and this is the first time that i ever actually see the pills so im not sure if im supposed to drink the brown ones or what are they for..... and also my nurse just said your blood work came back good so u could start with b/c pills now and im confused cause someone from here told me that i had to start b/c pills on CD8 but im only CD4 and my nurse just said start taking them so im not sure know if im supposed to take them now or no?? thank you!!!:):)
