Post-Coital Test

I'm supposed to have a post-coital test when I get a + OPK.

What is this for? What does it screen for? Doc said something about testing how my CM and hubby's sperm mix together...

Dr Q or Ladies..... Help Plz!

I was wondering if there was something that I could take to increase my CM. I have some but I think I want to increase it to see if that will help me with TTC? Also, is there a test that the doc can do to see if ur CM is hostile or not? How do u know if ur CM is hostile? Will that keep u from conceiving if ur CM is hostile?

Bad Post Coital, Bacteria, leading to IUI and stressing (again)

Ladies and Dr.,

I have been on clomid and responding nicely. This is my 2nd round and I had a post coital. The nurse said that I have some sort of bacterial infection. He said I have too much of the good bacteria and my chances of preg this month are slim to non because the sperm cannot swim. He said my only choice is to take antibiotic and do an IUI next month. Is there really no chance of preg this month? Could this have been a cause of earlier miscarriages? and Is an IUI really necessary after the antibiotic?? Thank you in advance.

My RE in planning a post coital near ovulation. The nurse was explaning the procedure today but, was a bit confusing. She mentioned something that it could effect getting pregnant this month. Is that true??? Do my chances of pregnancy go down this month because I am having this test?

Dr. Q, Post Coital Exam??

First question is what is this, and does it really work, because what I wrote below is what a good friend of mines, mom told me, that she did years ago, and im just really curious. Also whats the price on this without insurance covering a thing???

One of my friends moms had this thing done, and I have been meaning to ask Dr. Q about it. Its called Post Coital Exam, now she had this done YEARS ago, her children are of the ages of like 30, 25, 24 or something. So many years ago was this done, but she too had to take Clomid and all that with number 2, and then stopped and said she would leave it in Gods hands but then her doctor wanted to do this exam, and BAM she got pregnant. She also told me in the email, "The doc was so funny, he said jokingly oh lots of times my ladies become pregnant in the office after this test, I was like WHAT??? But that is exactly what happened, we found out that I had a high PH level that was killing a good bit of the sperm and also I had excess cervical mucous."

So my question is Dr. Q what is Post Coital Exam?? Does it work? Price?

PCT minus Ovulation

Dr. Q here is my question. My RE ordered a PCT for Tuesday. Everything that I have read says it should be done around ovulation time. Well, since I don't ovulate regularly because of PCOS why would they even make me go through this test. Are they assuming my body will be preparing to ovulate even if it doesn't happen? Just curious.

When would you perform a post coital test?

For instance, if one of your patients was on clomid for a few months and hadn't gotten pregnant would you do a post coital to rule out hostile cervical mucuous or would you only do it at your patient's insistence if she noticed she didn't have much cm?? Is the post coital test still widely used by RE's today or no?
