Trying to get pregnant with a possible MS diagnosis.

For the past two years, my husband and I have been going through a roller coaster ride of tests and doctors. After a car accident, my doctor scheduled an MRI to check for injuries. They found lesions which they now think are the beginning signs of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Throughout the testing process, we were not able to start trying to have a baby as we had planned. In February 2009, my neurologist finally cleared us to start trying, but he really wanted us to get pregant before the end of the year. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. in January 2010, I found out that the MS has progressed and I have two new lesions on my brain. Now the neurologist is giving us 6 months to get pregnant by June 2010. In December, we decided to seek the advice of an RE. Since that time, I have been diagnosed with PCOS and given Clomid to force on time ovulation. It is so hard to go through all this worry and all these tests knowing that there is a deadline. We are hoping and praying that we can get pregnant so that we don't have to make the hard decision of treating the MS or having a baby. I would love to hear from anyone out there that can relate to my story.

Do Prometrium and Clomid increase migraines?

I have had irregular cycles since going off birth control. It's now been two months with no sign of AF so my obgyn has recommended that I take prometrium and then begin clomid. I've had problems with migraines (usually before or during AF) for years now. Is it likely that these medications will cause me to have more migraines?

Reproductively Challenged

Thank you for reading my journey. DH and I are happily married and ready to add to our family. Actually, been ready as I have been ttc for almost two years now. I have been a member of FertilityTies since September of 2008. This was when I first started seeing a doctor to try to find out what was wrong with me. I have always had irregular cycles. When I was younger, I would have very heavy bleeding, severe cramping, long AFs, and long cycles. Sometimes it would skip a month and once I bled for two weeks. The school nurse suggested I go on birth control but my mother was against this. Finally, when I was 18 I went on Ortho-Tri Cyclen for a year. While taking it I had AF every last set of pills on the Wednesday like clock-work. I got off the pills in May of 2008. From May-July I had a regular cycle, and then it started to go haywire. My cycles after that were anywhere from 19-65+ days long. I have brown spotting and sometimes pain after bding. In September, I finally went to see a doctor because I had been bleeding for 15 days. That is also when I started doing online research and came across this site. Because of my young age, I struggled with getting answers from doctors. I went to three ob/gyns before I finally decided to see a reproductive endocrinologist and was diagnosed with PCOS. I tried one cycle of clomid 50mg and was not successful with ovulation. My husband is in the military, so I have moved several places and have seen several different doctors. My cycles have gotten no better. Right now I am on 2000mg metformin and am waiting on AF to start a 100mg clomid + 2000mg metformin cycle and a possible IUI. I am glad I get to share my journey on this site as I have met many wonderful ladies on here. I love to help other members who have questions, too! Thanks again for reading my journey.

Have I BD on the correct days?

Hi

On my 2nd round of Clomid, really want it to work this time.

I had a positive OPK on 11th March at 6pm. (The morning of 11th March was negative and so was the morning of March 12th)

We BD that night, and also 4 nights previous.

As we had friends staying over, we couldn't BD on March 12th. Do you think this was a missed opportunity?

Do I need to BD today on March 13th or is it too late?

Thanks.

The short version of my story!

I am 26, DH is 27. We were ttc #1 for over a year when I was diagnosed with PCOS. After 7 cycles of Clomid I finally ovulated for the first time and conceived my daughter. She turned 3 in December, and we have now been ttc #2 for a year and a half. I knew it was going to take some time so I didn't want to wait to long. I go to Yale Fertility in New Haven, CT and I feel very luck to be a patient there. It is difficult because I have to drive an hour there and be there by 8am, but I know it will pay off in the end. Since ttc #2 I have done 3 cycles of just clomid with no luck. I did a cycle with Letrozol and Clomid, then just Letrozol, all with not even one follicle. I am so sick of hearing "Many less than 10". They finally switched me over to Gonal-F. I did 4 cycles of Gonal-F with "scheduled intercourse". Three of those cycles I ovulated, but they all ended in BFN. I am now starting IUI, and am looking for people to talk to through all of this. I am getting to the point where it's hard to get my hopes up. Even if your not going through the exact same thing as me, I'm here to talk to anyone if they need it. I find if I am talking to other people and making them feel better it in turn makes me feel better.

*PCOS is not an end all sentence. I was told I could not lose weight, that "diet and exercise doesn't help" and told so many things. THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! I started eating VERY healthy, almost crazy healthy but once you get into the swing of things it's not that difficult. I started going to the gym a few times a week and I have currently lost 26 pounds! I know weight is a big deal for a lot of PCOS patients, but sometimes you need to have someone have faith in you for you to have faith in yourself. I found that someone and I would love to be the person to return that and help someone else, or many more people. We can beat PCOS, no matter what "everyone" says.

Clomid...no effect

Dear doctors, is it normal for someone to not react to Clomid at all? I have 40 day cycles typically. I started was on 50mg and moved on to 100mg in the next cycle with little effect. I didn't ovulate faster & I also don't have multiple follicles developing. I only have 1 dominant follicle each time & they grow very slowly. It's as good as if I didn't take clomid.

Clomid started February 27, 2010 looking for cycle buddy

Hi Everyone! This is my first time ever posting on any website, but this has been a long journey for me, and decided it would be nice to have others to share it with. I have a son who is 2 1/2 years old, and ever since I decided to have another child, I have had miscarriages. I had one at 16 weeks (totally heartbreaking) and 2 more at around 8 weeks, all in 2009. I have been to MFM, they ran a gazillion blood tests, all which turned out to be negative, and now their theory is that I have bad eggs or an implantation problem. They put me on extra folic acid and aspirin and clomid 50mg days 3-7. I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything will go well this month. I usually don't have trouble getting pregnant, just maintaining the pregnancy. I just finished my last dose of clomid today. I would love to hear other peoples experiences and have someone to go through this journey with. I wish baby dust to all.

BFN after trigger....is there still possibility for BFP?

My husband and I have been TTC for several months, though this is my 3rd medicated cycle with my reproductive endocrinologist (RE). I have been on 100mg of Clomid for CD3-CD10. I triggered with Ovidrel on Saturday, 2/20 and had an IUI (never had one before) on Monday, 2/22.

My husband had the full workup this cycle, they did a semen analysis on him for the first time and of course, a sperm wash before my IUI. His count was 21 million and the motility was great. As for me, I had 3 good follicles (I think).

I know I shouldn't have tortured myself by taking a test because the HCG from the trigger can create a false positive, but I couldn't help it. I wanted to do *something* I guess, instead of just waiting around...I wanted to know if the HCG was still in my system or not. Well, I got a BFN yesterday, which was 8 DPO.

Bottom line...I know it's too way early to get a BFP under normal circumstances, but is it possible to still be pregnant this cycle even though I got a BFN yesterday? I just thought if you triggered, an HPT would show positive all the way from time of trigger (false positive) until HCG from true pregnancy was in my system. Now that I got a BFN, I'm really sad that maybe there isn't hope that I will get a BFP in a few days. :(

Sorry to babble...I've scoured the net trying to find anything on this, and haven't had any luck....

- Stacy

TTC#1 & bfn's...Does anyone feel scared too?

Sometimes I'm not sure how I survive the TTC journey each time AF shows up. I cry my eyes out & I just don't even feel like going to work or doing anything. I've been TTC #1 for almost a year now. I know I'm not supposed to get frustrated or stressed out as its not going to help, but how do you deal with the pain & disappointment?

In the meantime, friends & relatives around me seem to be getting preggos so easily and it's making me SO depressed! I'll be going for my first IUI this cycle. I'll be having a first scan tomorrow to see which will be the day. I'm hoping & praying for a good month this time.

I'd really like to hear if anyone else is feeling this way too. It'll be wonderful to talk to someone who knows how this whole thing feels so that we can share experiences together!!

Clomid

I am to be taking 100mg this month. I began yesterday on day 3 with one 50mgpill in the morning and one in the evening. I have no idea why I did it this way.. i just assumed that meant 2 different times daily... but now I noticed that it says 2 pills daily. Which I assume means that I should have takn them at the same time...

Will this affect my cycle??? and the results?

Trying after Ectopic pregnancy?

in late jan i found out i was pregnant and in early Feb after U/S showed nothig in my uterus they put it down to ectopic pregnancy, because wasn't very far along and levels were still not too high they gave me Methotrexate on 8th, the first dose never worked so i got a 2nd does on 19th feb. my levels went from 2300 to 1000 odd and now sitting at 500odd, that was all since 19th. back on sunday for more bloods to check and make sure my levels are still comig down, once they are a zero i am gong to start taking Folic acid again, but how long should we really wait before trying again? it has taken us well over 2 years and 6months worth of fertility treatment to get this far, we really ant to try again but don't want to take chances, we were wondering if anyone knew how long we should ait and if there was anything we could do to get healthier before trying again? this is the first time in about 3years i have not been on prenatal vitamins so once my levels are zero will be taking them again... anyone have any other tips or advice?

Just had trigger shot. Best times for intercourse?

I am currently on clomid 100mg days 3-7. I went in for an Ultrasound and trigger shot today. My lining is 7.2mm and I have 3 eggs sizes 28.2, 27.9, 28.3.

Is the lining adequate? The doctor said it was good, but have been reading on the internet that it should be 8mm. Do you think it will grow to 8mm over the next 36-40 before ovulation. Also, are my egg sizes too big? I know they say over 20mm is good for clomid, but mine seem so much bigger. Also, will all three eggs release?

Sorry for so many questions. My main and final question is this. What is the best times for intercourse? I had the shot today (Thursday) at 1:30pm. I am thinking that tonight, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning for good luck would be the best option. What are your thoughts?

baby diary

call me crazy but i've wanted to be a mom since i was 16 years young. i've always known i was meant to be a mommy. we're young so we thought we could just conceive without much effort but we were so wrong. i feel like my biological clock is ticking LOUDLY, and has been for the past 7 years. so i guess here's our timeline so far:

i'm pretty sure the pcos started at 16 but no real idea as my mother had me on birth control from 15 on ...

i've spent a majority of the time between ages 17 and 22 bleeding everyday, heavily. when i went to GYNs about it they stuck me on birth control and didn't bother running any tests to see what the underlying issue was ...

in february '09 my husband joined the army, which opened up basically unlimited health care. at that point i started seeing a OB/GYN and got the ball rolling on diagnosis and treatment. we did an HCG, a million blood tests and did one trial of Clomid before i realized that my doctor wasn't giving us a fair shake.

we've moved since then and i haven't gone back to see a doctor because i'm not ready. i'm ready to be a mommy but not ready to do a pregnancy. i need to lose weight and accomplish some things that i never let myself want ...

we looked into adoption, but it just feels like we're being punished for having fertility issues. no one asks any questions when you conceive a child, but when you reach out and try to do something good, there are 10 million questions and the ones in the beginning have nothing to do with your want or desire to be a parent. i just think there's something seriously wrong with the adoption process today.

next summer, hopefully, i'll be about 100 lbs lighter and we can start our fight again. we will be parents someday. i truly believe that's what our calling in life is ...

thank you so much for reading this and for any comment ...
