No Periods After Stopping Birth Controll Pills

Hi

I was on birth controll from 2001 in order to treat irregular periods, but now as we wanted to start a family,

I stopped taking birth controll pills in Novemeber 08. I received my first period on December 27th 08, and then I do not have any periods thereafter. I am trying to get pregnant, and I did take a HPT last month, but it showed negative. I feel like I am going to get periods, but I do not have any periods, I sometime have lower back pains, stomach pains and I am not sure what is causing this. I am going to see my doctor soon, but I also needed other piece of advice. How can I start getting periods and hence ovulate, and then get pregnant? Thanks

How long does it take to get a period after stopping birth control?

I stopped taking birth control at the end of December and AF was on Dec 27, 08. It is now March and nothing other than some spotting at the beginning of February. AF was always regular before I started birth control. Is this normal?

Symptoms while on NON ACTIVE Birth Control Pills?

I am preparing for our first IVF cycle and have been on birth control pills for 3 1/2 weeks now. I just started the non active pills on Sunday, and though I had no symptoms whatsoever on the active pills, I have had pregnancy symptoms everyday on the Sugar (non active) pills. Has anyone else had this? I have never taken any b/c prior to this so I am a little confused. I also had ovulation symptoms while on the pills but opks were all negative.

TTC after 7 years on birth control, Now taking Clomid

Ok.. So here is where our story starts. I am 25 years old, and got married about 1 year ago. After getting married I decided to stop taking birth control, since I had been on it for about 7 years and I didn't know how long it would take to start ovulating again. Also, at my yearly checkup in January I asked the doctor why would my periods be getting lighter & shorter ( I was hardly having a period at all), I was assured this was a normal side effect & it was nothing to worry about. I also asked if everything was okay so that I could stop taking the bc after getting married to try to have a baby, the doctor said that everything looked good, just stop taking the bc when I was ready. So, I stopped taking bc in May. I know sometimes it takes a while for your body's hormones to start working on their own, especially since I had been on bc for about 7 years. Time went on it was now October & still no period. I didn't think I was pregnant but since I wasn't having a period I took a preg test every month. (I am a nurse & I have a fear of being the patient who is pregnant for months and months and never realizes it, until they come to the ER for abdominal pain). I called my doctor and was told this is no big deal due to my taking bc for an extended period of time. They said to wait until November, then come into the office for an appt. Now, during this time I had gotten a new job & new insurance, which meant I would have to switch doctors. I called around to different offices & could not get an appt until Dec.

I went to the new doctor in December (now 7 months with no period), I assumed it would be for the whole exam. The doctor sat across the room from me with her laptop & did not have any physical contact with me at all. She just sat there & asked me questions... At the end she told me I was not ovulating since I hadn't had any periods since May, which I already knew, the she ordered some blood work which I had done that day. She said she would wait on the results of the blood work then call in some medicine to make me have a period, then we would start Clomid. The nurse called a few days later to say I wasn't ovulating (duh) & they would call in Provera to induce a period. Then the 1st day I started my period to call & we would start Clomid 50, I would take it cycle days 5-9, have sex every other day days 12-18 & on cycle day 21 we would do more lab work to see if I ovulated. Now, the sex every other day thing provides a problem since my hubby is a fireman & he works 24 hour shifts & he is out of town, but we improvised. All went as planned & I went back for the 21 day progesterone level & they said they would call with the results next week. I don't know if it was the side effects of the medicine or what; but I really thought I could be preg. My breasts were extremely swollen & sore one was even lactating a little, I was very nauseated, & really tired. After over a week of waiting I called the office back, it turned out I did not ovulate & my progesterone level was like 0.75. I was crushed..They said since I did not ovulate, there was no need to give medicine to induce period, we could just start back up with the Clomid again but this time increase the dose to 100.

This time I tried to prepare myself & not get my hopes up too high. We did the Clomid 100 cycle days 5-9. But this time I had help I bought the Ovulation Predictor Watch. It tells you 4 days before you ovulate which is the best time to get pregnant. The watch told me I ovulated on cycle day 14, so we had sex days 10-15. On the 21 day progesterone level I found out I did ovulate this cycle. But my level was a 6 and they like to see levels above 15 (I think this is what they said) with medicated cycles. They decided to increase the Clomid again to 150, after I started my period.

Here we go again... Today I just started taking my 3rd round of Clomid with the increased dosage of 150. I have an appt at the end of March for my yearly at the gynecologist, I booked it in January, but now it looks like if I don't get preg this month I will be on my period. Crap! I guess I need to reschedule, but it will be several months until they will be able to get me in. And I am very impatient.. I want a diagnosis or something, so I know what is causing all these problems. Wish me luck!

After being in birth control for 14 years when will my cycle go back to normal and be able to conceive?

I have been on birth control pills for 14 years and have just stopped taking them to try to conceive. I went 2 weeks without taking them and then had some break through bleeding. Is this normal? and will my cycle go back to normal to be able to conceive?

Thank You

Clomid vs Birthcontrol

Hello.

I have had irregular period since I was a late teenager. I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend (now husband) for at least 5 years and never got pregnant. I decided to go on the pill to regulate my periods (they were coming every 3-6 months). I missed a few days taking the pill and got pregnant in 2004 and had a healthy baby in 2005. Now we would like to conceive again and the dr's wont put me on birth control to get pregnant. They put me on clomid which is causing me to ovulate but I'm not getting pregnant. December made cycle 5 of clomid 50mg. Earlier this month I went through two rounds of IUI treatment and the pregnancy test came back today negative. I also found out today my husbands sperm count is a little low so they think that may be an issue. I just don't get how it could high enough before to conceive and a few years later lower. I would like to go back on birth control to conceive since it worked before but the drs are telling me its not the right way to do it. What do you think?

Can you still get pregnant after long-term birth control use?

I was on birth control for about 7 years. I started when I was 14 going on 15 and now I'm 21 going on 22. My fiance and I are trying to conceive. I was on Tri-Cyclen for a few years and then the Evra patch and then I ended with Depo Provera for about 2 years. My last shot of Depo was on May 24, 2007. It's been about 21 months since my last shot. Should I be fertile again by now? I'm really worried that being on birth control for that long, especially the Depo messed up my system. I'm paranoid that I don't ovulate or that I'll have scarring on the uterus or something. Is there any hope that I'll conceive? What are the chances that my body is really screwed up because of BC? Or could I be perfectly fine and it's all in my head?

Anyone had a tubiligation after a vaginal delivery?

Just curious..I'm due in two wks, so we need to get the ball rolling. Dh does have a vasectomy consultation in a few weeks.

If you've had a tubiligation after vaginal delivery...did u use epidural or what? How long after birth was it done? How long did it take? Do you regret or are you happy with your decision?

Thanks

We need to figure out what we are doing soon b/c I am close to due and we are changing insurance and want to get either the tubiligation or vasectomy done prior :)

ttc coming off of bc for 1 month

I started taking BC (birth control) back in December so that I can regulate my periods. I took them as directed and when it was time to start the second pack of pills I never stopped bleeding. I took the blue pill for a whole week and I was still bleeding so I stopped taking them (I then began bleeding really heavy, with lots of clots and pain) I went to the ER on Jan 10th (After about 8 days of heavy bleeding) and they checked me and I was fine they just told me to stop taking the pills. I stopped bleeding around the 14th. I did have sex A LOT within that time (When I say a lot I mean a lot) idk if I should call that “bleeding” in January a period or not, but I have yet to have one in Feb, idk if Im pregnant or not. I have been really nauseated today, And I want to take a test but I just don’t want to be disappointed! What do you think? I don’t want to really say I have symptoms b/c I read A LOT, and sometimes think im making myself believe that I am when im not. Please let me know what you think! Thanks

Also this is after ttc for 13months

THINGS LIKE THIS GIVES ME HOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CALGARY, Alberta (Reuters) - A 60-year-old woman in the Western Canadian city of Calgary has given birth to twins after going to India for fertility treatments, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp reported on its website on Thursday.

The report said the twins, both boys, were seven weeks prematurely delivered by caesarean section. Though one is breathing with the help of special equipment, doctors said the twins are doing well but will be kept in hospital until they gain weight and both can breathe on their own.

The woman, originally from India, traveled back to that country for in vitro fertilization using donor eggs after being refused the treatment in Canada because of her age. The CBC said she had tried for years to get pregnant but had miscarried three times, even after surgery to correct a problem with her womb.

While unusual, a 60-year old woman giving birth is nowhere near a record. ABC News reported in July that a 72-year-old woman in India, who already had five grandchildren, gave birth to twins after in vitro fertilization, making her the world's oldest mother.

The CBC report said the Calgary woman's obstetrician thought it was a joke when she was referred to him before she showed up at his office. He is still questioning the implications of someone having children at an advanced age.

"I couldn't imagine if I was 65 having two five-year-olds running around crazily. The energy to do that is incredible," the CBC quoted the doctor as saying.

(Reporting by Scott Haggett; editing by Peter Galloway)
