How long are BCP's given before IVF?

How long do they typically keep you on Birth Control Pills prior to an IVF cycle? Is it 2 weeks or an entire month? I cannot remember what my nurse told me.

THANKS!

skipping OCP/BCP prior to Lupron

What is the difference if I skip the BCP/OCP prior to starting the Lupron?

My protocol calls for about 2 weeks of OCP then start Lupron and wind off OCP. I want to skip the OCP, can I do this??

What if I do skip, does it change anything, other than maybe the timing?

Thanks so much for your help...I really don't want to call my RE's office and ask!

Why no CM on CD 15?

Here's my history:

Originally diagnosed with PCOS, tried Clomid 6 months, stopped but had still been Oing on my own.

Tried 2 IUI's with injectables- failed.

Took month off to have Laparoscopy which showed stage 2-3 Endo, all was removed. Oed on my own that cycle (1 week after surgery.)

Tried 1 more IUI w/ injectables- failed.

Developed an O cyst, BCP's for 2 weeks, u/s showed cyst was gone.

Had to take break this current cycle b/c of holidays, office is closed.

Currently, on CD 15 and have had NO signs of approaching O. I usually always get +OPK by CD15 and experience lots of EWCM, but so far this month, NOTHING!

I'm wondering if the BCP's could have screwed me up or do you think I may O late???

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

THANKS!

How long to get AF after stopping bcp for IVF?

I just took my last bcp Friday night. Just wondering how long it will take for AF to show? I have been on Lupron for a week.

Will the Lupron delay AF? How long should I expect to wait to see AF?

Looking for others to share their experience with this.

My first IVF experience

After 2 years of trying naturally, then onto Clomid, then 2 failed IUIs I am beginning my first (and hopefully last) IVF attempt. After all of the testing that both myself and my DH have gone through the RE has determined that I'm perfectly fine, but my DH doesn't have the strongest swimmers (low morphology). IVF is our last resort. I started taking my BCPs on Thursday and I go in this coming Friday for my trial transfer. I wanted to find what experiences other woman have had with IVF. Just as an FYI, I'm 37 and my DH is 47. Anyone close to 40 or over that has had success with IVF?

Should I use advanced or FAM method of detection on BBT chart?

Hello,

I am currently on CD42 and either 19DPO or 5DPO. I have been very confused by my chart and feel so lost on the whole thing. I don't want to be someone who obsesses about all of this and I truly want to be as patient as I can but at this point I cant feel relaxed about it when I can't even understand. I appologize in advance if I sound like I'm ranting.

I have been off birth control since June second, I stopped taking day before placebo week figuring I would still start flow the next day like I always had before but period never came. Next month it came on July 7, following month on Aug 18. Both very light and mostly just spotting and tiny flake like tissue looking clots. Since then I have not had a period and I worry that I am not ovulating because of the odd nature of my periods. With my last cycle being 43 days and this cycle being at 41 and not seeing an end in site I am feeling lost.

Ok, so my actual question regarding all of this is that this is my first month charting temps and am using Fertility Friend to record them. It was looking like I potentially ovulated on the 23rd and my temps did appear to go up a bit but then on what looked like 13dpo I had my first clump of jelly like CM, which I assumed was egg white cervical mucus before but I had never personally sn myself get that. Then directly after having that my temps rose signifcantly more and have stayed up higher since. So on Fertility Friend I first had my detection method as advanced at first and it had my O day as the 23rd like I had orginally thought but then I decided to move it to the FAM method to see what that would look like and it moved my O day to CD37, the day after I had the questionable cervical mucus. I now just feel lost on what to go by and what to trust.

Here is a link to my current BBT chart and if you could look over it I would greatly appriciate it. http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/28bd23

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to take a look at my problem. Take care!

prescribing birth control to shrink cyst, is there another method?

Hi, I did one round of 100mg of clomid with an iui, got a BFN.. did a baseline u/s on cd4 and had 4 lrg cyst.. I also hade 4 mature follies prior to iui.. Well, the nurse prescribed bcp to shrink the cysts but I really dont want to take it and miss out on another month just in case I do ovulate.. Would this be a bad idea or should I take the bcp.. I've already taken 2 pills(bcp)

When should I expect period after laparoscopy and birth control pills?

When can I expect a period after laparoscopy? I was on the pill for two consecutive cycles before that with breakthrough bleeding. Also, I've had weird pains on and off (now off) like ovulation pains in the weeks following the surgery, could it be from the lap or should I assume it's ovulation?

Thanks.

My first IVF

My story in short. We did our first IUI on July 28 miscarried at 15 weeks on Oct 29th. They couldn't find any reason, just one of those things that happen.
Getting off the pill

I have been on the pill for 9 years. I recently went off it because it was not working with my body. I have lost 6 pounds in one week and have had bloating in my lower ab. and cramping. I stopped taking it 6 weeks ago. Are these symptoms normal for getting off the pill?

Lactose As A Filler In Pills?

Hello,

I have a question. I have pcos and my dr. put me on bcp's to "rest" my ovaries for a few cycles before starting clomid...just found out that the majority of pills I have been taking contain lactose which I am severly allergic to. Eg, orthotricylin 21, gravol, my prenatal vitamines have a lactose coating, metformin...

I have not been feeling well since September when I started the pills and everyday I have a rash on my stomach, which also happens if I accidently eat something with lactose in it.

I just read that clomid contains lactose as a filler. Do you know of any alternatives to clomid that don't contain lactose as a filler? I am glad I found out what is wrong but scared now I won't be able to achieve pregnancy if I can't take clomid!! Thanks!

Chances of getting pregnant while taking the pill

I am pretty good with always taking my pill on time everyday. I have been on them for 2 years. About a week ago I took my pill close to 3 hours later than normal and then had sex with my fiance 2 hours after that. My periods usually start on Sunday (monday at the latest) and are fairly normal (not super heavy or light). Well my period came early morning on Tuesday and is WAY lighter than normal. I took a home pregnancy test on Monday night and it was negative. What are the chances of being pregnant?
