After Hsg test...

I had my first hsg test done this morning at 9am. And I felt cramps during the procedure, but was fine for about 2 hours afterwards. Then I started to get pain on my stomach(like period pain) and fever.

So.. After about 6 hours, doctor prescribed me antibiotics.

After 12 hours (now), I took paracetamol because of more pain. Crossing my fingers that nothing too serious is happening to me. I was warned of 3 negative symptoms before the test : 1. Smelly discharge 2. infection 3. too much bleeding. I guess mine is the second one..

Has anyone experienced fever after hsg test like me?

How do you know when to go to L&D??

Ok, I'm so confused... I am currently 37w4d pregnant and for the past several weeks I have been having some menstrual like cramps. I went to the doctor at 35w6d and was 1cm dialated and 70% effaced. So recently I have been having much harder cramping along with lower back cramps and cramps in my upper thigh. I have also had alot of pressure in my cervix area.

Yesterday I think I may have lost part of my mucus plus because I had a chunk with a string of red in the middle. Then I woke up at 4am with contractions 8-10 minutes apart with a ton of pressure and they lasted about an hour - an hour and a half. But then they went away. Now I am having a ton of cramping that seem pretty close together but they can be close together and then farther apart. So I'm very confused. I hate to call my doctor and I hate to go to the hospital for no reason. So how do I know when it's really time to go to the hospital?

Dr.Q can you help me out on this one? Also I tested + for strep so my doctor said to make sure I get to the hospital right when labor begins so I can get started on antibiotics. So I dont want to wait too long... but how do I know if I am in labor or not? I'm so confused! Thanks so much for your help!

Ladies....I am going to be leaving you all for a while Sorry!!!

Yesterday i went to the Dr and was dilated 1 cm and my cervix was a 1.8 down from 2.6 last week. So think babies are trying to tell us something. The Dr is giving me two more days until i have to go back on thursday to see if i am dilated anymore..If so then i will be in the hospital until 37 weeks or until i deliver if they come before 37 weeks..at 37 weeks i will have the scheduled c section if i can make it..which is 5 more weeks from now..She said that my babies lungs are most likely matured because of the steroid injections that i had 3 weeks ago but she said that we want to go at least to 34 weeks to make sure..I will miss you all but will be back very soon..take care...

Oh i am 32 weeks and 4 days and they are estimating babies right at 4 pounds if not a little bigger..Dr will do growth next week i think since they do it every 4 weeks and it wasnot quite 4 weeks from the last scan..take care all..

A Quick Question

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a male. I took a small dose of Cephradine (about 500 mg total) and melatonin (0.5mg) a couple of days ago. I wonder if they have any adverse effect on sperm quality or not. My wife is trying to conceive these months. I am not sure if those drugs could cause sperm mutation that leads to birth defects or not.

Thank you very much for your time and your help.

Sincerely yours,

Richard

Anitbiotics

I have to take erythromycin. I'm starting clomid on Sept. 2nd. Can the erythromycin change or affect how the clomid works in my body? I know that advil & aleve can affect ovulation. I'm just worried about taking anything because we're starting our second IVF cycle soon.

Antibiotocs and sperm

My husband is taking Amxoil since having a wisdom tooth removed and has a 7 day course of them along with strong painkillers. I am due to ovulate in around 8 days and am concerned that the antibiotics will have an effect on his sperm. Worse case scenario that it will cause a miscarriage if conceived or disabilities with a child conceived whilst he's on antibiotics.

TTC with UTI

Hi, I am currently TTC. I have been for 13 months. I woke up this morning with a UTI, took a home test and the white blood cell count was postive. I am on CD 10 so ovulation is right around the corner. Will taking antibiotics and having sex with the UTI have any effect on TTC??

Do I need antibiotics?

Dr. Q,

Most of the women on these boards say that they were given antibiotics when they had their HSG done. I just had my procedure done today, and I was told that the risk of infection is low, so I don't need meds. What do you think? Do you normally prescribe for your patients? Should I ask for them, just in case? Please advise. THANKS.

Antibiotics and effect on sperm

Hello,

My husband may have an ear infection and he is concerned about taking antibiotics due to the effect that they may have on his sperm. We are hoping to conceive soon and have read that certain antibiotics can be detrimental to sperm production.

Which antibiotics would be considered safe to take at this stage?

Also, if the antibiotic could possibly damage his sperm, then how many months do we have to wait until new sperm are produced and healthy enough to try for a baby?

Also, will a heavy cold alone have any effect on his sperm?

Thank you for any help you can offer us.
