Dr. Q and Ladies,

I am doing a round of IVF. I have started my injections, etc and my est. retrieval is the 26th, with a transfer on the 29th.

I now have a sore throat, sinus pain, etc and I am worried this will have an adverse affect on our IVF cycle? Will it make for "less than optimum" conditions?

I am due to begin my doxycycline on Friday, was thinking of calling the re to see if I should begin them sooner?

I would appreciate your input!

Low Progesterone and Conception

First of all, I had a temperature increase from 97.7 to 98.3, but it was on a day I had bad symptoms of what turned out to be a kidney infection. The next day I started antibiotics and my temperature went from 98.3 to 98.1, then back to 97.9 on cycle day 25. I'm a little concerned, as maybe I didn't even ovulate. Or I did ovulate, but my progesterone is so low. I have also read online that a low temperature could indicate thyroid issues. This is my first cycle of charting, although I have been trying to conceive for a year last month. I'm a little frustrated, what do I do?

I need to have a fatty tumor removed off my shoulder blade and had the consultation last yr right b/f my ivf cycle..and decided to wait b/c they were going to put me on Keflex, and antibiotic b/f removing the tumor. All they would do is punch a hole, squeeze it out and stitch it up..but the antibiotic is in case of infection.

Would that effect my breastmilk if I did it now or should I wait??

Can Antibiotic Zinnat cause miscarriages and affect my chances of pregnancy

Dear Doctor,

My husband has been taking an antibiotic called "Zinnat" tablets 500mg for the 7 days, we are coming up to an ovulation. Does this antibiotic affects sperm quality, chances to conceive, chances of miscarrage or can have any effect on a baby?

I had severe cramping with Amoxicillin, so dr has put me on Nicef (Cefradine). This is apparently also safe for use during ttc or pregnancy - do you agree? Also, do you think there will be any negative side-effects from switching (without finishing one course) from Amoxicillan to the Cefradine?

I've been sick for almost 3 weeks and am on antibiotics. I've been waiting to get better before I start the Progesterone for 10 days to make AF come but I'm just so impatient!!! Is it okay for me to start the progesterone now even though I'll be on antibiotics for another 4 days?? I want AF to show up ASAP so I can start my first round of Femara! Help! What should I do? I don't want to be patient any longer! ;)

Ok question is my DH had to get a shot the other day of a strong antiboct and was also put on a 300mg antibtcs for 10days. Now will antibotc decarse his sperm count? And if he has low sprem count will the antibotcs help to incress sperm?

My husbank took several kink of antiboditic drug (including tetracycline) one and half month ago (10/29/08). Now I found out I am pregnant. Will it cause any problem? Would the drug effect on sperm quality?

Clomid Round 3...Here we go again...

So, here we are. Round 3 of Clomid 50mg CD 3-7. This is the month. What a Christmas miracle it would be! I'm trying a lot of new things this month... Antibiotics for both me and hubby as prescribed by my OB/GYN for 10 days prior to ovulation, Pre-Seed and Mucinex as well. AND this month I'm springing for the digital OPK's. This is it!

After Hsg test...

I had my first hsg test done this morning at 9am. And I felt cramps during the procedure, but was fine for about 2 hours afterwards. Then I started to get pain on my stomach(like period pain) and fever.

So.. After about 6 hours, doctor prescribed me antibiotics.

After 12 hours (now), I took paracetamol because of more pain. Crossing my fingers that nothing too serious is happening to me. I was warned of 3 negative symptoms before the test : 1. Smelly discharge 2. infection 3. too much bleeding. I guess mine is the second one..

Has anyone experienced fever after hsg test like me?

Ok, I'm so confused... I am currently 37w4d pregnant and for the past several weeks I have been having some menstrual like cramps. I went to the doctor at 35w6d and was 1cm dialated and 70% effaced. So recently I have been having much harder cramping along with lower back cramps and cramps in my upper thigh. I have also had alot of pressure in my cervix area.

Yesterday I think I may have lost part of my mucus plus because I had a chunk with a string of red in the middle. Then I woke up at 4am with contractions 8-10 minutes apart with a ton of pressure and they lasted about an hour - an hour and a half. But then they went away. Now I am having a ton of cramping that seem pretty close together but they can be close together and then farther apart. So I'm very confused. I hate to call my doctor and I hate to go to the hospital for no reason. So how do I know when it's really time to go to the hospital?

Dr.Q can you help me out on this one? Also I tested + for strep so my doctor said to make sure I get to the hospital right when labor begins so I can get started on antibiotics. So I dont want to wait too long... but how do I know if I am in labor or not? I'm so confused! Thanks so much for your help!

Yesterday i went to the Dr and was dilated 1 cm and my cervix was a 1.8 down from 2.6 last week. So think babies are trying to tell us something. The Dr is giving me two more days until i have to go back on thursday to see if i am dilated anymore..If so then i will be in the hospital until 37 weeks or until i deliver if they come before 37 weeks..at 37 weeks i will have the scheduled c section if i can make it..which is 5 more weeks from now..She said that my babies lungs are most likely matured because of the steroid injections that i had 3 weeks ago but she said that we want to go at least to 34 weeks to make sure..I will miss you all but will be back very soon..take care...

Oh i am 32 weeks and 4 days and they are estimating babies right at 4 pounds if not a little bigger..Dr will do growth next week i think since they do it every 4 weeks and it wasnot quite 4 weeks from the last scan..take care all..

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a male. I took a small dose of Cephradine (about 500 mg total) and melatonin (0.5mg) a couple of days ago. I wonder if they have any adverse effect on sperm quality or not. My wife is trying to conceive these months. I am not sure if those drugs could cause sperm mutation that leads to birth defects or not.
