3rd iui, low sperm count after washing, follicle were 16 mm

I jsut finished my 3rd iui, now am on the 2ww. The RE said my husbands sperm was a 2 for motility and there were only 4.5 million. Usually those nubers were better. Also, i had several follicles. But,t eh two dominant ones were only 16 mm when i took my ovidril. Does that seem small? Do i have any chance? and, does it seem like my doctor is being conservative and not letting my follicles get big enough to reduce the risk of multiple pregnancies? should i move to IVF, we have unexplained infertility.

Here we go again!! Day 1 of Cycle 4, 3rd IUI

Well AF came last night so on to round 3 for the IUI's and Clomid.

My RE says this is the last cycle for that before we have a counseling session to discuss other options.

Oh please let round 3 be the charm !!!

I requested my RE increase the dose from 100mg to 150 to see if that will help any. I am an early O'er so I am always seen on day 9 and trigger. Last IUI was on day 10 and the 1st IUI was done on Day 11 so I asked them to reevaluate that too since this is the last Clomid IUI cycle they will allow me to do.

After 3 years and 5 miscarriages something has to work soon doesnt it?? I am starting to panic. My 37th birthday is on November 29th so all I hear is the constant ticking, Its making me crazy.

DH was devastated this time when we got the BFN. He was so sweet yesterday and suggested maybe we take a break and give my body a rest but I told him with my age I dont have that luxury. He is only 32....and a guy so he doesnt understand the time thing although he is quickly becoming an expert on this whole fertility thing.......

I just have to ask!

Ok soo many people tell me oh its ok to have that glass of red wine while in the 3rd trimester, not that I have and not that I will, im just so tired of hearing people saying it.

Is it really safe?

Dont get me wrong I love my wine, but I of course havent had a thing while pregnant and I just dont think I could even think about doing it, but I hear it can be so healthy for the unborn babies heart just like it is for us.

I hear if someone is having trouble with pains or other things the doctor instead of prescribing something to take will say I would rather see you drink a glass of red wine before bed to relax you.

Really how much truth is there to this. I know my cousin had a glass basically a night, because her doctor said it was totally healthy and totally fine, she did this through the whole pregnancy, and there daughter is as healthy as can be, never gets sick or anything.

Anyways I had to ask, I just have to know!

Thanks ladies!

Question on Cervix late ion Pregnancy?

Hi All,

I hope you can help me out on this one... All day today I have been having a burning/twinging sensation in my cervix. I'm 37w3d pregnant today. I just went to the bathroom and noticed this big chunk (whitish yellow) with a red streak of blood down the middle (Not alot literally just 1 red streak). Just wondering if I should call my dr.? I dont know if this could be an infection or my mucus plug or if something is wrong with my little baby guy. I have been doing alot of cleaning today but I have also been resting alot too, I definitly dont think I over did it. Also, we are going to a wedding tonight (shoot me now!) and am wondering what I should do? Anyone know??

36w6d Pregnant Question!!

Hi Dr.Q and Ladies,

I have a question for all you. It's gonna be a long one so I apologize!

Anyways, back when I was 11 weeks pregnant I had a pap smear done at my 1st prenatal appointment and the result came back high grade abnormal. My doctor then scheduled me for a coposcopy. She didnt biopsy anything she just did a vinegar wash on my cervix to look at the cells. Which at that time she said were still abnormal. I was about 17 weeks pregnant at this coposcopy.

She then said not to worry and she would do a follow up pap smear in August. She said sometimes pregnancy can cause abnornmal cells on the cervix and it could possibbly be all the hormones making the cells come up abnormal.

So I just had another pap smear done in Augst at 33 weeks pregnant. I got the resukts back last week and they came back high grade abnormal again. The nurse called me and said they need to do another coposcopy. So I have another coposcopy scheduled for 1:30 today. I ended up going to the doctor yesterday because of increased swelling in my feet and ankles and I asked why I need another coposcopy and if it's safe this far along in pregnancy (I am 36w6d today). She said if the does the coposcopy and the cells are still abnormal they will have to induce labor this week. Does this sound like a normal procedure for someone who has high grade abnormal cells? I completely trust my doctor but I had not heard of being induced until just yesterday. Also, will my baby be ok being delivered between 37-38 weeks? I'm worried a little about his lung development. Ohh and what does high grade abnormal cells mean? Does this mean it's cancer or very close to becoming cancer? My doctor didnt seem at all concerned with the baby but she did seem concerned about the abnormal cells. Thanks so much for your help and any advice or information will be so helpful!

Ohh also, when I went to the dr. last week I was 1cm dialated and 70% effaced. Dont know if this might speed up the labor process since I am a little dialated and effaced.

Dialted and Effaced... What does this mean??

Hi All,

I went to the doctors this morning because over the weekend I noticed alot of cramping. It wasnt too bad but sort of frequent. Also I thought I may have lost my mucus plus on Sunday too. Anyways, I'm 35w6d pregnant today and I went to the doctors and had an internal and she said the baby dropped completely and she felt his head! She said I am 1cm dialated and 70% effaced and the baby was at a station -3 or 3... I cant remember what she said. Well of course I am a wreck! I'm just nervous about delivering so early because I'm only 36 weeks (tomorrow). Does this mean I am close to having the baby? Or is it normal to be 1cm dialated and 70% effaced for a while before he comes out? Anyone know? Thanks so much!

Iced Tea During Pregnancy

Hi Ladies!

This is such a dumb and anal question but I have to ask. I'm 35 weeks pregnant and have been very anal about drinking anything diet and with caffiene. I know both are ok in limited amounts but I am so anal I have been staying away completely. Well what about Iced Tea? I have had Arizona Iced Tea a few times and no where in the ingredients does it say caffien, but it doesnt say anywhere on the can caffiene free either. So what do you girls think? Does it have caffiene or not? Sorry for asking such a dumb question!

Tingling Sensations in Hands?

Hi Ladies and Dr.Q,

I have been experiencing something kind of strange for about the past week. At first I would wake up in the middle of the night with both hands asleep and I could not get them to wake up! The only way I could get them to go back to normal is to get out of bed and stand up and they wouold feel better. Then the second I would get back into bed they would fall asleep again... a pain because it's keeping me from sleeping! Well now I am noticing it during the day! Only during the day my finger tips get numb and tingly. What the?? Is this normal? I am 33w5d pregnant and I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I might call my doctor because it's really starting to drive me nuts! And usualy during the day when my fingers are a little numb it's only in my right hand... well this morning it's in both. Isnt this kind of weird? Hope someone can help! Thanks!

Brown Discharge at 32 Weeks Pregnant? Help!

Hi Dr.Q,

I'm 31w5d pregnant. The past 2 mornings I have woken up to a pulling and stretching feeling very low in my uterus area. Almost like I pulled a muscle. When I woke up this morning and went to the bathroom there was a clump of brown mucus. What could this be? I am praying not my mucus plus because it's way too soon for that! I have a doctors appointment this morning at 9:25... thank god! What do you think? Is this dangerous to my baby? Also I had an ultrasound done last week and the tech said his head is down very low so could that be causing the pressure and stretching/pulling sensation? Thanks so much for your help!

I had FET transfer on July 24 by beta test is on Aug 7 but I have no symptoms what so ever. this is my third try. the second try was fresh 5 day embryos which the dr said that look very good and the pregancy test was negative back in May. Now with the frozen ones which are supposed to be of the same quality i have no symptoms. i did a hpt toda and it is negative. Is it possible that the blood work comes out +. there is nothing wrong w/me i am doing ivf b/c of a tubal ligation back on 2003. before this transfer i had one of those test to look i your uterus to see if there was somthing wrong but all looked ok. are there any reasons why i am not getting pregnant. thank you for your answers

Gross Question But I have to Ask!

Hi Dr.Q and Ladies,

I'm having a very weird issue. I am currently 30w4d pregnant and have been having tons of pressure (in front and back) and have been having diarreah 2-3 times per day for the past 3 days. I dont know if this is normal or not. I'm going to put a call into my doctor in the morning but I have to ask because I'm a little concerned. In one of my baby books it says diarreah can be a sign of labor, which really freaks me out. I'm wondering if the baby is possibly pushing on my bowel or something. He is very active and at times when he kicks or moves it hurts! Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Gorgonzola Cheese During Pregnancy?

I know this is so stuipd to ask but I need your opinions!

Tonight for dinner I had this gorgonzola cheese beef and pasta dish. I thought it would just be a few pieces scattered on top and I could just take them off or eat just a little. Well the sauce was made from melted gorgonzola cheese and I ate it! I didnt love it but it was the only thing we made so I ate it. Is this going to affect my little guy? I'm 30w1d pregnant. My hubby said it should be ok since the cheese was cooked. I dont know though... what do you think? Now I'm a nervous wreck. Thanks for your help!

Measuring Bigger... What does it mean?

Hi Dr.Q and Ladies!

I'm hoping you can help me out with this. I had my 30 week appointment today. I'm 30 weeks pregnant today! And I am measuring over 31 weeks and the doctor said I have a big baby and said he weighs around 4 lbs. Does this mean anything? My expected due date is October 1st but I'm wondering since I am measuring bigger that maybe I will go a little sooner than that? Is it normal to be measuring larger? Thanks so much for your help!

Ohh, I also have been having horrible heartburn. Of course I forgot to mention this to my doctor when I was there. I dont get it during the day at all but it keeps me up at night. Is there anything I can do to prevent it? I dont think it matters what I eat because last night I ate a few graham crackers before bed and I didnt think you could get heartburn from graham crackers but lately I get it from anything I eat! Even water!

Nipple Question?

Hi Dr.Q and Girls!

I have a question for all of you. I'm 29w2d pregnant and have noticed a little yellowinh loooking crust on my nipples for the past few weeks. Well the other night a clearish discharge came out. It looked like water. Does this sound normal to anyone? Also my nipples have been very sensitive and sore lately too. Anyone ever hear of this? Or should I call my doctor? Thanks so much!

Medication During Pregnancy... Help!

Hi Dr.Q,

I was wondering if you have ever used a medication to treat pregnant women with anxiety and panic? The medication is called Buspar and my doctor mentioned trying me on it. I had never heard of it and was wondering your thoughts on this drug. I looked it up and it's mostly for panic, anxiety, worry, fear... which are all the things I have! I dont have any depression at all really... I just get so frusterated when I have panic attacks because I really dont want to have them! Can you let me know what you think about Buspar? Have you ever trated your pregnant patients with this med? Thanks so much Dr.Q!

difficulty breathing

I"m in my 26th week and have noticed in the last few days I have difficulty breathing at times (just feels harder to do so), I have the LOUDEST hiccups and I don't know if this is just indigestion? Any reason to be concerned? Is this just the baby pushing my lungs up?

3rd Round of Clomid...a Saturday of Hope

THIS IS LONG, but it's SO AMAZING!!!

Well i'll start my 3rd round of Clomid tomorrow, day 5, July 5th--easy to remember what days i'm on this month! But i had an AMAZING experience Saturday morning, and i can't wait to share it with you.

I got up to test right after my hubby left for work, and i was all alone, b/c my daughter had spent the night at my sister's house the night before b/c we had a gig. And i questioned whether i should test or not, being that i'm so used to getting negatives, i didn't wanna see another one. Well, i did the test, but couldn't bring myself to look at it for the longest time. Right there as i sat up in my bed, i started praying to God. I thanked Him for an amazing week teaching 4th grade VBS last week, and all i took away from it, which was much more than i thought. And then i told Him, "If you want this to be it for us this month, let it be, but if not, help me to deal with the disappointment." As i slowly reached over to get the test, i'm feeling nervous. I look--it's negative.

I called Jack (he was still on his way to work) and told him the news. He consoled me for a moment, and then had to go, as he approached his work. I hung up the phone.

I lost it. I cried. I really cried. Feeling overwhelmed and distraught, I began asking God, "why, why...i don't understand." I didn't understand why it was happening to us. Why did we have such an easy time getting pregnant with our daughter, and it's taking us 18 months and counting for this one? I felt bad to be asking why, because i had just prayed for comfort and encouragement if i wasn't pregnant. Why did i feel this way?

I suddenly felt like God was telling me to open my Bible. I turned to Psalms thinking i would find verses of encouragement. Looking back it seems selfish, but i know i just wanted His love and support. As i opened to Psalms, i began to read. I IMMEDIATELY felt a sense of comfort. WOW! I mean, no more tears, not thinking about my sorrows....just COMFORT. And what i found myself reading next wasn't the verses i thought they'd be. They were verses of God and His glory, His faithfulness and strength, and His awesomeness. Right then i knew was He was saying. He caught me when i was so broken, and it was like He was telling me, "I'm about to do something amazing in your life, but it's not gonna be about you, it's gonna be about me." And it WAS.

The more i read, the more i kept reading. I grabbed a piece of paper and began writing the verses down. I wrote and wrote, and after filling 1 page, i began searching for verses of hope, faithfulness, etc. One of my favorites i found was:

"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, b/c we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance- character, and character-hope." And that's SO true. When you are going through what all of us are, it's hard not to get down about it, but our suffering makes us stronger, and makes us press on, and builds our character. Psalm 130:5 says "I wait for the Lord, ; my soul waits and in His word i put my Hope".

This INCREDIBLE morning gave me hope, and it gave me a jump-start to getting closer to the Lord. After i filled up two pages of verses, i looked over at my clock, and it had been an hour! It's amazing how the time flies when you're focused on Him. He allows you that time of not feeling rushed.

Anyway, i know this is long, but i had to share it with you guys. Y'all are always there for me and i wanted you to know that we will pull through this. All in God's timing, not in our own. If He wants this for us, He WILL make it happen, and i truly believe that.

I wanted to share this verse with you that has always been my favorite, and we can all relate to it:

"Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart"-Psalm 37:4.

Love you guys.
