Year Mark
August 07, 2008
My year of TTC has arrived! My year ob/gyn appt was just made and its Sept 26th. I am excited about seeing her and getting her opinion about the next step but it makes me worried that much more. My cycles are normal and I am ovulating, so I'm not sure why it's taking so long. My adorable spouse is working on getting a SA in the next few weeks, which would help give us peace of mind. Af is due this weekend and then we'll have one more month of trying before we go to the dr. 2 of my best friends are giving birth to their first babies in the next couple months, so I feel like I am on big emotional roller coaster. I just keep praying and holding fast to God's promises!
that is so crazy! When my hubby got a SA it was the most unprofessional thing ever! They gave him a cup and said "bring it back within 30 min after your done". Its an hour an 20 min drive to get to the city that does the SA's, so I am not sure what she was expecting. She just sat there blinking at us until I said "like, where do you want him to go?". She looked puzzled and said "oh, I think there is a public washroom down the hall". My hubby was so upset and can you blame him? Thankfully the washrooms were individual and not the big ones with 10 stalls! When we told our doc what happened he was surprized and disgusted! The only good thing was that we got the results in one week and everything came back fine. I thought they would at least give him a smutty magazine or something....lol.
It is so hard when you reach the one year mark. I had a lot of doctors tell me that I would be pregnant within a year and not to worry until then. So then the one year mark came and I was devistated. I have still not had an HSG and the doc wants to wait until I finish this cycle and next of clomid before he will refer me to an OBGYN. I sure hope that I get my BFP before then!!! Hang in there, you have come to the right place for support! ~~~Baby Dust~~~

2 weeks! wow, we had results of dh's sa in 3 days! i guess it just depends on the lab they use. oh my lord rachel! that is crazy!!! and wrong in so many ways! i didn't go in with dh although there was a loveseat (covered with a sheet) in the room if he needed a little help! LOL! oh those poor guys! gotta love them! i used to think we had it bad, having docs down there poking around-but i have to say-i'd rather do that than what our men have to do!
Amy-you make perfect sense! I've felt so much better and so much more in control since the moment I made that RE appt-which happens to be the first day I found this site. It totally helps to be proactive and know that you're actually going to get some answers (hopefully). Even if it is just to find out you're healthy-then maybe that'll give you enough peace of mind to relax a little more during the whole process. That's what I'm hoping. Although I'm beginning to think that there are definitely some weird things going on in this body! I hope you get you're appt soon!

My husband is definatly jelous... what your husbands experienced is more what he was expecting to have happen. LOL it is so funny. I did feel bad for him... but now I am on clomid and dealing with the side effects and I am feeling less sorry for him all the time. Besides how many SA's does a man have to have in their lifetime? Having someone poking around down there is routine for us! LMAO
Rachel-you make a great point! They don't have to do these things near as often or have to deal with side effects! My pity has lessened... ;-)
Amy-I'm sorry you have to wait so long! I hope you get news that was worth the wait! And guess what, we're still cycle buddies! Just a little farther apart! Ol' af came last night, so now I'm on CD2! I go in for my HSG on Aug 26th. I'm glad to hear you got your RE appt! Hopefully nature will take its course and you'll get your BFP before you even see the RE!!!
Good luck girls!!!

Hi Sunshine Amy,
You did the right thing pushing forward with finding out if everything is ok. Better to know now than six months down the line. My bf and i have just begun our 'investigating' and its been quite a tense time always WAITING for results. So far theres been a few abnormalities with both my bf and I, but im still none the wiser as to whether they are serious and have been having a direct effect on our ability at ttc.
Even though the last couple of weeks have been tense in a funny way its almost made me feeler a little calmer now that we've taken those first few steps.
Hope it helps to calm ur anxiety a little and everything comes back 'normal', although im learning that 'normal' is a very ambigous word when its comes to fertility!
Good Luck and buckets of ***BABYDUST***

Basically what they are saying is his sperm count is normal, motility is fine, but most of his sperm is funny-shaped.
My hubby has the same problem
He has 153 million, 54% motility, and 1% morphology.
Now its not great but before you freak out, let me tell you what my doc told me. He said Because his counts are so high, it kinda overrides the morph issue. And if you do research, you will see that morphology is a very controversial issue among docs. I went back 2 weeks ago to be put on Clomid and my doc did not even want to do another S/A on him. He said DH was fine. So, as of right now we are not worried about DH.
When you research morphology, you will read things that will scare you but the bottom line is, no one really knows what a sperm is normally supposed to look like and what I mean by that is what may be normal shape for one guy is not normal shape for others. There have been many couples who get preggo with low morph! He has high counts and high motility, no need to worry!
Hope this helped! = )
