Would you consider my periods regular?

July 23, 2007

My husband and I are trying to conceive. My last menstrual periods are as follows:

April 5, May 2, May 29, June 28

On average, my period arrives about every 29 days, is this correct? Assuming as much, I seem to be ovulating on CD 15 (according to my OPK), which was July 13 of this month. Does any of this sound reasonable? We had sex on July 10 and 12th -- shouldn't this have done the trick?

Trying to have a baby is becoming exhausting and frustrating. Every time I think I understand how things work I am disappointed again.

Thanks so much for your input/advice.

You're pretty much on the ball with things, but you always have to keep a positive outlook...although human fertility is highly inefficient, most who keep on trying will get there. Just don't let the frustration get to you and have sex become "mechanized". Most couples (85%) do get pregnant within a year. Hang in there, keep on doing what you're doing and we'll get you there. If you don't get pregnant using OPKs for 6 months total, maybe time to consider getting a simple fertility work-up by an Ob or preferably RE just to make sure everything's is Ok

Ok, thanks! I'll try to keep things positive. It's exceptionally frustrating for me b/c I never messed with my hormones (taking BCPs, etc) precisely b/c I didn't want to have fertility probs. Not saying I necessarily have probs., but it's ironic when my 2 good friends who took the pill for years got pregnant on their first month off it! You can prolly feel my frustration now...

thanks again!

You're welcome and I think many of our users feel and relate to your pain...in this field, though, you have to remember, keep a positive attitude and we'll help you get there.
