Wishful Thinking Or Real This Time?
January 07, 2008
I am on CD 28 of a normally 25-28 day cycle. The longest cycle I've ever had was 32 days. I had 5 days of spotting starting on CD 16. Since then, no spotting and no sign of AF.
Here I am, CD 28, no AF, I've been much more irritable, and for the last two days, I've had A LOT of CM! We babydanced just in case, but I was wondering, could I be pregnant for real this time? I took a test on CD 23, but I think it was too early and it was negative.
How long should I wait to test?

I chickened out on testing this morning. I keep thinking that the longer I wait, the better it will be. At the same time, I'm kicking myself for not testing.
I took my temperature this morning (I know that it's not about the actual temp, but about the pattern), but my temp was really low and I got really discouraged. Is it possible to be pregnant even if you have a low temp in the morning? I'm starting to think that the spotting was just a VERY VERY light period...

what was the temp sweetie??
Its so hard to tell since you werent temping this cycle. If you can compare it to your other cycles around this time that might help.
If you have a link to your charts on fertilityfriend.com, please send it, so we can see the last ones, and let us know what this temp was.
The spotting could have happened from BDing or something close to your period. That happens to me, and then it takes like 2 days for it to come in full flow.
I pray you get that BFP though sweetie!
Lots of love!

The temp was 96.61, but I always have low temps. The spotting started on CD 17 and ended on CD 22... none of those days did I need a pad or tampon. Here is the link to my chart, but like I said, I only took my temp a few times, so it doesn't look like anything... The last time I temped was September... Thanks for helping me out.

Hey sweetie, yeah just a little confusing...haha. Are you 100% that you ovulated?? I see that you took lots of OPKs and none came back positive. Im just curious. Have you been to the doctor if you arent ovulating?? That could be why your cycles are so long. I have PCOS and thats what was happening to me, until thankfully Clomid came into my life, and gave me lots of hope.
Im praying for you sweetie, and hoping that you get a BFP soon!

Usually my cycles are short. I haven't had a long one like this since September. I went to the doctor... she said she suspected PCOS, but that she wouldn't refer me to a specialist. She told me that I should lose weight and then come talk to her. Like I haven't been trying long enough! I told her how long we've been trying... 28 MONTHS!
I'm not sure I ovulated because my OPK's are never positive, but it got close on CD 17. My temp today was 96.89, so a little higher, but not enough. I tested this morning and I shouldn't have wasted the test. It was obviously negative.
I am going to count my mid cycle spotting as an early very light period and test again if I miss the next one. I'm so sick of this heart break!

wanna be - dont ya just love when the doc tells you to loose weight and come back? I would hate that crap! WHen i was pregnant with my daughter i gained lots and lots of weight and one doc told me to stop eating so much or i was gonna look terrible after the baby was born. He was a little China man and my 200 pound self (at that point) could have crushed him..... jerk! The other doc i saw in the clinic was like - "hey, ya put it on and you will take it off, no big deal".
Anyway, that is WAY off the subject!! LOL!
I would deff start temping to see when and if you are ovulating. I hated temping but i knew i ovulated so it wasnt necessary for me to continue, for you it makes sense for you to temp.
My SIL went to the doc when getting ready to start trying and he told her to temp for 6 months and if she wasnt pregnant to come back with all her charts so he could see what was up. That way she only has to try for 6 months and not deal with years of this crap!
I waste at least 5 pregnancy tests every month - i buy from early-pregnancy-tests.com and they are super sensitive and less than a buck a test so test away!!! I am a testing junkie but it gives me a reason to get up in the morning :)

Hi Wannabe,
I can totally relate except I would look into finding a new doctor. You have been trying long enough to warrant extra testing either by a ob/gyn or a specialist. Most of the time all it is is a blood test to look at horomone levels and glucose levels at least to verify the PCOS. What ever happened to trying for 1 year under 30 and 6 months over 30 before more testing. When my cycle started being irregular my doctor at the time went as far to send me to a bariatric clinic who then tried to put me on a protien diet which was going to cost me $240 a month just for the protien powder. Needless to say I said forget it. We weren't trying at the time so it was no big deal. a couple years later my sister had gone to the doctor to find out why they were having problems and was diagnosed with PCOS. We had been trying for the same amount of time so I got checked out as well since it can be genetic. Long story short my doctor diagnosed me with PCOS started me on metformin because I am insulin resistant and after my insulin levels were not continuing to go down she sent me to a specialist. It just sounds like your doctor is not very proactive about the situation and it's not worth the heartache every month.

I cant believe your doctor said that....omg. I would be so mad!!
My doctor, and this was the first time going to this one, and will be my OBGYN for the rest of my life, he is great. Anyways when I went in after 6 months of trying and 6 months being off Birth Control and irregular periods, well I went in for a PAP and they knew what all was going on with my cycles being 45-60days. So they knew something was up, never lead me to worry at all. Anyways so after they did the pap and said it was normal checked my ovaries felt a small cyst and rushed me to U/S, thats where it was confirmed PCOS.
He told me to wait 2-3 weeks and if nothing has happened (period or ovulation), then to call. He also said that I wasnt ovulating for 6 of those months we were trying. I was heart broken!
Anyways I called back on like CD45 with no ovulation and they RX me Prometrium and then Clomid.
I think you need to have a chit chat with them or switch places. You dont need to see a specialist, they can get you on Clomid now.
Im wishing you all the best and im soorry about that negative test.
