Will even very large cysts go away on their own?

357
Sarita

March 23, 2009

I was recently on Gonal-F for almost 4 weeks trying to find the right dosage. We found it, only to discover that I overstimulated only 24hrs. later, resulting in too many mature and "boarder line" follicles. My Dr. insisted we cancel the cycle, though my husband and I decided to try anyway. I already had the trigger shot at home as well as progesterone suppositories, and both my husband and I were open to reduction if need be. It turns out we needlessly fretted over the decision, because we were ultimately unsuccessful at fertilizing even ONE of the many, many eggs (potentially 8). While this alone was disappointing, I found out today that I now have several cysts, some measuring as large as 55 mm. I do not have PCOS, and my Dr. said the cysts will probably go away on their own, but I can't help feeling doubtful. Do you think that cysts that big will dissolve on their own, or will I need surgery? Also, did I cause the cysts by taking the trigger shot even though my Dr. told us not to? Do you think the cysts are what caused us to be unsuccessful even with so many targets? I can't help but feel like we somehow punished ourselves. :(

I appreciate any insight you might have. Thanks!
