Hello Doctor,

i am 5 weeks pregnant. my doctor advised me to use Utrogestan (progesterone) 200 mg vaginally twice a daily. i want to know what this medicine is used for?? does it have side effect on my baby?? will it cause miscarriage??

these days i am facing lower back pain. i wonder, if the pain is due to this medicine or normal pregnancy symptoms..

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ruda, welcome!!! and congradulations!!

if anything progesterone will help prevent miscarriage, progesterone is a natural pregancy hormone, and have no side effects, i do know it might make your boobs a bit more sensitive and fuller, though i would not call this a side effect!! lol!! dont be concerned at all, its completely natural.

if you need more info, use the "search for fertility info" box on the top right corner to see previous posts on progesterone.

all the best and lots and lots of ***stickly glue***

Yes,

Progesterone can be used for this, but is essential if IVF was done
