Dr Q... I am doing IVF this cycle. I have my flow sheet and 2 days before ET and day of ET and day after ET I have to take Vibramycin and Medrol.
I am wondering why this is given. I know that teh Vibramycin has the active ingredient doxycycline and that has the ability to inhibit the growth of a wide variety of bacteria and certain other organisms but not sure why it is given unless they are worried about infection???? Is that the reason??
Also the Medrol is given to increase the chance of implantation by altering the immune system slightly for a short period of time so that embryos are not rejected. I dont understand why my body would reject the embryos?
To my knowledge my body has never rejected my embryos since I have 2 children already.
