Why does amoxicillin reduce birth control pills?

Since the pill is broken down in the liver, any other medication that works on the liver, such as amoxicillin, can interfere with the function of the birth control pill

Dr. Q on the pill is it a false af you get because what I can remember reading is that you don't really have a true period with the pill is that correct....I have't take b/c for 10 years or so I cannot remember

the b/c puts your female stuff to sleep so i dont think its a true period cuz you dont really ovulate while on the pill.

Maybe the last week of pills are prog pills so that your body thinks you have ovulated and then when you go off you have AF?

ok that is what I thought chelsh...I was told the last pills were sugar pills and never took them when I was on the pill....thank god those days are over....

The last week are simply sugar pills, which means that there's no hormones (Estrogen+Progesterone), and this withdrawal of hormones causes your endometrium to shed...

i see, so if you dont take the sugar pills you should still get your period, right?

I ddint take them either but never got my period on the 28th day even when on the pill.... seems my body does whatever it wants even if i want it to do something else! LOL!

I have to start up with those stupid pills again now with the IVF cycle..... crazy hey?!?!?

Right..they are just placebos...so if you take the 3 wks..then skip the last wk...you will still get af!

yes that is correct Chelsh...I never took them because it was no need and sugar pills I had enough sugar pills. Ok another question about the pill...how do they control break outs. I was on some that help break outs I love them but now a week before my af I get pimple...ok what is up with that. Usually a really bad one also!!!!

only one pimple a month angela? Lucky duck, i get much more when i am about to get AF..... must have something to do with the prog in your body.... maybe cuz you dont get elevated progesterone cuz you arent ovulating so thats why no acne?

nope ovulating....this mth a few more....I do use proactive!!!!
