Hi Mel,

cd17 or cd18, and you can learn more about your most fertile days, predicting ovulation, learning about the menstrual cycle by searching this site. Good luck mel, and keep us posted!

Dr. Q,

I'm curious, how do you know what cycle days give you a boy or a girl?

Hi Sar,

I know there's a lot of information on the net...my mother used to tell me "don't believe everything you see on TV" (wow, am I getting that old that I'm saying TV?)...well...thing's are proping up on the net in the same fashion...

Unfortunately, there are no scientific studies proving that a particular cycle day, time, position, etc, will get you the gender you so desire...

What is proven to increase your chances consistently is sperm sorting for an IUI or PGD...

I do agree on Dr. Q on that. I do hear from so many women that if you want to have a boy, you baby dance on the day of ovulation. If you want to have a girl, do it the day before ovulation. They said the female chromosomes live longer than the male. If you baby dance the day before ovulation, by the time the egg comes out, the sperm carrying the male chromosome is aleady dead, and the sperm that carries a female chromosome is still active to fertilize the egg. If you baby dance on the day of ovulation, the sperm that carries the male chromosome will still be alive to fertilize the egg. I don't fully believe on this...maybe there is truth to some part of this. hehe!

Oh, and one more thing...the Y sperm (male chromosome) can swim faster than the X sperm (female chromosome). If the Y sperm swim fast enough before they die to fertilize the egg, then you'll have a boy. If the Y sperm don't reach the egg before they die, chances are an X sperm will get there shortly, and then you'll have a girl.

I don't care what we have..as long as it's healthy. BUT...I always thought that it was the man who decides the sex and not the woman..which I liked because if we don't have what my husband wants then it's his fault. LOL :)

Haha thats soo funny!! I do believe its very true that the husband decides on that! I cant really decide which I would rather have, boy or girl, both have just such great things to offer.

My husband at first kept saying a girl and for years before we got married always said that when and if we did have kids (he is still a little scared...haha, but knows its something I want, and that it will be great and wonderful) he wanted a girl. Then the more he thought of it, he said well boy would be good too. I guess he didnt want another me, after thinking about it. I was basically an only child, my brother is 9 1/2 years older than me, so when I was old enough to actually realize I had a brother it seamed like he was always gone, or then off to college, but I tell you what, that boy is my best friend and words cant say how much my brother means to me. The years between us I think just make us that more closer.

Anyways all I know is that either way, whatever we do have when we get pregnant, I just want it to learn how to play soccer like its daddy did, plus to see my husband on the soccer field will make me soo happy. I never saw him play, but I know he misses it.

Ok im just blabbing and dreaming here. Time to wake up...yall ladies have a wonderful day and talk to you shortly!

Yup, it's our hubby's sperm that will decide the gender of our baby. All the eggs we produce only hold the "X" chromosome (female chromosome). If a sperm that will fertilize the egg carries a Y chromosome, it will be "XY", therefore it will be a boy. If the sperm carries the "X", then it will be "XX", therefore, it will be a girl.
