Hi Susan and Welcome to F/T! What Casey wrote is very good information but many times a woman can ovulate anytime during her cycle. If you want to know when you are ovulating we would suggest for you purchase opk's (ovulation predicator kits). You can purchase those and any drug store, Wal-Mart, internet (e-bay), and/or supermarket.
If your cycle is 28 days long meaning the start of your period to the start of the next period then you would start using the test on cycle day 11.
If your cycle is 29 days long then start using the test on cycle day 12 and so on.
