A fetal heart beat can be noted as early as 6 wks gestattion if the ultrasound is good enough. REs will do ultrasounds usually at 6 wks and 8 wks. Once a heartbeat is visualized, then the miscarriage rate drops signficantly
I got U/s about a week after i found out i was Pg...cause i couldnt ever remember my LMP date, so they would do a U/s for dates n sizes to get a estimate on how far i was. Now since i had a Ectopic Pg last July/August, i will always be getting U/s's done asap, to determine the bean went into the right spot. :) but at 6 weeks they see HB, around 5 weeks you usually see the sac...:)
Is it an internal ultrasound? I am calling tomorrow to schedule my first ultrasound. I have no clue how far along I am, only that I got the surge on the OPK on Jan 27th. As of Saturday, my beta was over 2,000 and my hormone levels were great according to the nurse. Now I am kind of worried about having an internal ultrasound. Is that silly?
Yes it is an internal ultrasound, they usually can not see much externally at 5-6 weeks. I had an internal at 6w3d and saw the heart beat, now i'm 10w 3d and i will be getting one again soon maybe next week or the week after depends on when my doc wants me to go get one because i have my first hospital oppointment on the 6/3/09.
And no its not silly and dont worry it doesnt hurt :)
I have had internal ultrasounds before but I guess I am more nervous now that there is something actually going on in there. I know it will be fine though, thanks!
