I am very frustrated with my obgyn... my cycles have gotten way worse since I started seeing her I am am hoping this is the turn around! Thanks again and I will keep you updated! Good luck to you!
What to expect at the RE?
July 22, 2008
ok so after trying for 28 months and seeing my obgyn for 16 months for help I am finally going to see an RE for help. I have my appointment tomorrow at the georgia center for reproductive health and I am just wondering what I should expect for my first appointment. I am very nervous and excited but I figured knowing what to expect would help a bit! Thanks all!
I just read that you too have PCOS and are taking metformin along with Clomid or Femara now? I did 2 rounds of Femara alone with no results and had to have Prometrium in order to start my cycles however this month is my 3rd round of femara and i am now on metformin along with it and hoping that it works i am supposed to ovulate this week according to my RE. I will have to start clomid if this does not work so keep your fingers crossed for me. Again you should feel a million times better with a RE because they have more options to help than a typical obgyn so i bet you will have great luck now that you are switching.

I have my fingers crossed for ya!!! I really do feel a million times more positive now... my dh does too! He already has a game plan figured out... I have to go for a laproscopy(not sure if that is spelled right) and them we are starting injectables(which my insurance 100% pays for). The only down fall is that it is 2 1/2 hours away from me and I didn't realize how often I was going to have to go there... but it is all worth it. He said he is not sure that I infact have PCOS he is having blood work done(which my obgyn NEVER did) he thinks that because I am a little overweight and have had a history of one or two big cysts that she just labeled me with it.
So have you ovulated yet or still waiting? About what day are you due to?? I really hope that everything works this cycle for you!! Good luck... ****baby dust****

Hi Ethie i am so glad to hear that you and your husband had a good experience at the RE. That is awesome thatcyour insurance covers injectables that is hardly ever covered so what good news! No i have not ovulated yet and my RE told me that yesterday or today i was supposed to so i have another appt tomorrow morning to see what is going on. I really hope that i still have a chance this month so i have my fingers crossed for tomorrow. I am so nervous to go just because i am scared of the outcome. Let me know how your blood work comes back because that would be great if actually do not have PCOS. I think i have to starrt clomid if this round of femara did not work. I am nervous about that too so many scary side effects and multiple births this whole thing freaks me out some days! Good Luck to you this month what CD are you on?
Yeah I did the femara and clomid with my obgyn and was not ovulating at all and in fact once I started the clomid couldn't get a period even with provera. My obgyn said she felt like the injectables are what I needed and when I went to the re that is what he said too so I just started on those instead of the other stuff.

I was also seeing an obgyn until i switched to a RE in June and he has been wonderful. The RE will ask a million questions to you and your husband to find out as much about you as is humanly possible. I had an ultrasound, lab work and a pregnancy test all done while i was there. I brought all of my records from the obgyn with me so that he could reference all of the medications, lab work and ultrasounds i already had done. I asked alot of questions and he sent me home feeling that we had a plan of action so to say. He did diagnose me with PCOS but gave me new medication to start to help us conceive. I hope that you have the same experience that i did with a RE because i was so frustrated with our obgyn. Think about all of the questions you might have and write them down so that you can ask while you are infront of he/she and you should get very straight forward answers. Good luck to you and let me know how your appt goes!!
